Yeh i have one & its the best bike i have had

    +1

I am 6ft and have a 34 inch inside leg would the 18inch or the 19.5 be most appropirate Im leaning towards the 18 as lighter and its easier to make a bike bigger than smaller theory ?

I’m a little bigger than you and ride an 18″ however it does mean I ride with a silly amount of seat post and 3 headset spacers – still absolutely love it, I’d like to try a 19.5 out but I can’t imagine it being as perfect.

Blimey we’ve got one of those POS and we’ve had the non-lighting pilot light issue – turned out to be in need of a good clean – we get it “serviced” every year now.

I’ve been using my K24’s since 2006 and they have been bled once. Lovely modulation and power but terrible squealing and pad life on Formula pads (much better on SS sintered). Only major criticism is the made of cheese nature of the fixing bolts for the levers and pad retainers – I’ve rounded them all off and have now cut slots into them – anyone got any spares?

Would buy another set of rotors in a heartbeat when my K24’s give up, although checking the prices maybe not.

s’funny but Ti HT 29ers now seem so ubiquitous on here that when you see a Ti HT 26er it kinds looks wrong. I’m thinking of that Moots that was on here the other day.

I ended up with Ciba Vision Air Optix after not really getting on with Acuvue Oasys. They’re ok, better than Focus Dailies but not that much better imo.

Can I just take the opportunity to say that both the “community” and the mods do a really good job of dealing with things like homophobia etc on here – it really is a pretty fab place to be…

Disagree it’s a bit too po-faced, for my tastes. But hey it’s not my forum.

1979-1980 was a bit of an aberration in terms of historical oil prices due to Iran-Iraq kick off.

ctrl+alt+del get task manager running and see how many processes you’ve got at start up. I’ve got my relatively ancient, sclerotic pc down to under 40. I use winpatrol to find out what they all do but I’m sure there must be newer programs ou there.

It’s very easy when you begin camping to over spec what you need. Simpler is better, and especially if you’re just starting off doing weekends, quicker (to pitch) is better, which usually means tunnels rather than domes, and smaller rather than bigger. On the other hand if you’re going to be doing weeks rather than weekends and you’ve got the storage and transportation sorted go big and comfortable.

Never seen the need for leccy hook ups or fridges, good cool boxes like Coleman Extreme or Igloo Maxcold will keep cool for ages, just feed them a bag of ice every couple of days and you’ll be good.

One of the luxuries we allow ourselves is comfortable chairs, which are usually bigger (to pack) than the typical folding camp chairs, but well worth it ime.

    Tentipi, yum!

We’ve got an Outwell Montana which we love but bought an Outwell Virginia, a smaller tunnel tent for weekends. It’s a Yeomans Outdoors exclusive 5 man, slightly ‘cheaper’ material and fibreglass poles instead of steel, but it’s so good I did consider getting rid of the Montana. It was about £150 last year. Was in some silly weather and remained completely dry. A slightly smaller tent also gives you the flexibility of maybe buying a day tent for longer camps. There is a Vango equivalent which is probably just as good.

Ferrari and Mclaren wanted to build their exhaust systems out of this stuff this year but weren’t allowed. Betting it’s not cheap.

Snap. I bought a Gobi Wingflex a couple of years ago following the good reviews etc. I persevered with it for 3 rides then had to get rid, it just really wan’t for me. Went back to WTB and bought a Pure V or is it a Speed V, cheaper, more comfortable (for me).

I too have an Outwell Monstana 6, it’s a brilliant tent but it does need 2 to raise the tent, but that is just a small part of pitching – say 5-10 minutes, you could probably get away with it with a littlun.

After thinking about our need (me+partner + 2 kids) I think a more flexible approach would be a smaller 5 person type tent + a day tent like the outwell oaklahoma.

I got emailed about these Vango airsbeam blow up tents, check the video on the link. Expensive though however surfing round prices have gone a bit bonkers – much like everything else I suppose.

Is the answer the same as “why do roadies shave their legs?”, ie because they do?

Definitely go for a fresh install. However may be worth checking how many processes your machine is running, fire up task manager and check. A mate recently complained of a slow laptop and he had over 60 processes running at startup, all resource hungry mainly useless. I managed to get it down to 30 odd. I use winpatrol to stop these programs and services automatically running on startup. I’m sure there must be loads of other programs which do the same thing.

I’d say Science purely because of the hands on stuff and it’s a bit less crowded. But at 3 yo I think either is a marginal experience.

I’m the same size as you and ride a 58 Mares. It’s probably the correct size, but often wish I’d gone for the 56cm as I’ve come to the conclusion that I get on better with smaller frames. Not much help I know.

Got some Endura FS260 Pro for Christmas, nice fabric, much better pad, better but more techno cut with loads of different panels compared to the previous FS260. However had to send the first pair back to CRC (who were good as gold) as half the stitching on one of the numerous panels unravelled during the first wash. Replacement pair holding up perfectly so far.

Bought some of these Jagwire Pro based on price and the favourable reviews. Haven’t fitted them yet, so difficult to judge.
