If you’re going to go the tensioner route VeloSolo do a push up tensioner – cheaper than the Singleator but not as nice. The Singleator does have a draw back in that it may foul on the chainstays if you’re running the front ring in the outer position – it does on my Scandal anyway. Other than that try a half link.

I live in Herfordshire, do most of my riding in Hertfordshire, and for Hertfordshire, rigid is just about all you need – if you just want to ride XC. Besides I kept breaking myself on my Soul. If I lived in a rocky locale I wouldn’t ride rigid.

bimbler I don’t understand the instructions. once I locate the file on my pc I should change the file name and include /wuforce?

also where should I get spy bot search and destroy from

You don’t need to do this step unless Windows is reporting that Auto Update is turned off and you can’t turn it back on, as was the case with me.

Basically download the file I linked – remember where you save it to.

Click on start button.

Go to Run command which will be on the right hand side of the start menu (not in all programs menu)

Click on Browse.

Browse to where you saved the file above. Choose the file.

Add the space /wuforce command. Click OK.

This will force the MS update program to reinstall itself. Reboot. MS update should now be working.

Hope this works – this won’t get rid of any vestiges of the virus/malware but will fix windows update.

Can anyone help out with this, I haven’t stopped for days and have no idea what I’m doing!

I seem to have this thumbs.db in a lot of my picture folders

Should I be deleting all of them?

Hi kaesae

Go here

Microsoft Update Agent

Download it.

Then go start>run browse to the file which you just downloaded/saved put a space then /wuforce and then ok it.

Hi ds, absolutely nailed the interview and presentation. Did the presentation on helmets, a bit of history, a bit on are they effective which led into should they be made compulsory.

Just a matter of waiting now.

You can get the team cups for under £20 – I’d prolly go for those. Unsure with the new bearings whether you can pop the seals off and pack with grease, but if you can do it, if my old GXP cups were anything to go by there isn’t much grese in them and it seems quite thin grease. Managed to make a set of original cups last well over a year by packing with grease every so often.

The superstar ones look “interesting” but I thought the whole point of the GXP system was that you can’t sideload the BB therefore negating the USP of the SS BB’s? Not sure if that’s right.

Thanks ds, excellent advice I’m sure. I’ve got a couple of ideas now (3 including clipless pedals) I was working on a presentation helmets splitting it down into

1/Potted history
2/Arguments surrounding them being made compulsory.
3/Possibly talking about how I could incorporate helmets in a class discussion – although not sure about this bit.

Now thinking about still using a helmet as my object but giving the actual presentation on the rise of the MAMIL

Ref the bread thing, Motivforv’s gram flour bread is good and will go well with a Chilli.
That gram flour bread is one of thebest things I’ve discovered through these discussions.
Thanks Motivforv

Thanks Solo, yeah I’m a fan of the flatbread, super quick too (is that the one you mean?), my kids less so “errrr dad it tastes like foam”. I’ll probably try and chuck some seeds in next time.

Half way through Week 2, week 1’s loss was 2kg, down to 84kg, pretty pleased with that. Finding it hard not to eat porridge in the morning. I love pulses, meat and veg so the diet is no hardship. Other than porridge I find bread hardest to not want, had a lovely veg chilli last night would have gone lovely with some crusty white bread, mmmmm. Crusty white bread, looking forward to Sunday.

Done it!

Download a copy of Windows Update Agent from that there Microsoft, install it. However on the laptop that I was using it wouldn’t install as there already was a version of the MUA installed. It’s pretty tricky to unistall it but you can force it to install by using the Run command browse to the location of the update agent and put /wuforce at the end of the command line. wo0t!

Weird. I’m fixing the exact same problem on my mothers laptop.

Used MBAM and super antispyware. “Seemed” to get rid of all the nasties. However on reboot all of the file associations had been lost.

Followed this advice and that seemed to fix that.

Had a problem connecting to anything on the internetz, which was apparently caused by the virus taking over the host file. Had to clean the host file

NOw I’m stuck with the same problem as kaesae, in that the virus has disabled windows automatic updates. Haven’t found the resolution for this yet.

Just found this link, I’ll give it a go and report back

I’ve started this diet new way of eating, on Monday 84kg start weight.

Like others I’m finding breakfast the hardest meal to replace, I’ve been adicted to porridge so looking for alternatives I found this recipe for a Quinoa breakfast and from that the reference to Stevia, anyone used it? Looks ideal if you’ve got a sweet tooth (which I haven’t) and are looking for alternative sweeteners.

However I then found this article on Stevia and Insulin on the Livestrong site so it may increase Insulin production which is ummmm bad right? Also this which I don’t really get and can’t be bothered to work out, other than Stevia used as a sweetener have a higher postprandial insulin response.

Nut milk then eh? Allowed?

Use Firefox and occasionally Opera on PC’s. Opera on my Android phone. I tried Chrome early on, didn’t like it, never bothered trying again. Echo the comments above about trying them all out, maybe exclusively use each for a couple of weeks to get a real idea about the feel of the browser.

Recently got a desire, replacing a Nokia 5800. The Nokia was much better as a Satnav imo, almost as good as a fully featured stand alone unit. Google maps is ok but I think you have. to download maps on the fly and the voice is an annoying computer generated thing not helped by the tiniest pos speaker I’ve ever heard.

You see no issues with this?

No I understand 2×10 and if I was in the market for more than a single gear I’d prolly go that way. It’s the 1xthing I don’t really get, you lose a shifter but need a chain device, so the net loss is a shifter and a cable and a chainring (or two), seems like a worthless compromise versus gears.

Bimbler

I don’t get this 1×9, 1×10 stuff. You lose a shifter at the expense of lots of gears, doesn’t seem like a worthwhile exchange.

Only 3 political parties are totally against it, the Tories, The BNP and the Commies (unsure which particular strand of commiedom).

So I guess I’m for it.

I’m voting No

AV sounds like a right load a crap and the main reason the labour party now has Ed Millibrain as leader

Cameron was elected via AV too. Oh I see what you mean.

I’ve used Viewranger + other apps on a Nokia 5800 and latterly a htc Desire and it’s good for what it is. But if you want and can afford a “proper” GPS get one, they’re miles better than phones, much longer battery life + ruggedized. No worries about a usually flimsily built £300 smartphone in the firing line on the front of your bike, better UI and screens that you can use with gloves (resistive, rather than capacitive).

Bought a set s/h – lasted 5 years, eventually the free hub gave out had that replaced and then on the very next ride the shell cracked. So if anyone wants a one ride old DT Swiss 240 freehub then drop me a line.

For the record I would have bought another DT240 in a heartbeat but went Hope instead, couldn’t really justify the 2x price differential.
