To use an old STW favourite this properly boiled my wee wee, ok it was pretty one sided but then again the show was at pains to point out that the Trump organisation, the police and the scotch  government all refused to be interviewed.

Maybe it was a bit of a one-off fu but why are the “socialist” SNP so supine in the face of capital? And although this happened within the union, it really doesn’t shed a particularly good light on Scottish politics in an independent Scotland.

They are the biggest questions that science can possibly ask: where did everything in our universe come from? How did it all begin? For nearly a hundred years, we thought we had the answer: a big bang some 14 billion years ago.

But now some scientists believe that was not really the beginning. Our universe may have had a life before this violent moment of creation.

Horizon takes the ultimate trip into the unknown to explore a dizzying world of cosmic bounces, rips and multiple universes, and finds out what happened before the big bang. (R)

Here’s the link – watched this again last week, mind boggling stuff.

Both of my daughters don’t yet (both me and OH are speccy four eyes) but they seem quite sanguine at the prospect. I asked my eldest if her best friend, a specs wearer, gets teased and the answer was no. I think the danger period is years 7-11. Even weirder, compared to my school days, tooth braces, especially the full on metal mickey types, are considered fashionable.

From my experience of meeting quite a few Cockers when out walking my Lurcher oh and at puppy training is blimey they look like hard work. Then again so is my bloody dog. Cockapoos are lovely, seem a lot calmer, more attractive dogs imo.

Listened to the London Real Podcast called “Don’t Hate the Player”

All about being a Pick Up Artist, the speel :-

Pick-up Artist Nic Krauser joins us to talk about his journey from divorce to mastering ‘Game’ with women, how men are attracted to beauty and women are attracted to confidence, why ‘Game’ can help a man in a relationship, how women are honest to their emotions in the moment, and why pick-up routines can be a substitute to addressing one’s inner demons.

Quite interesting techniques which I’d definitely consider adopting should I not be a pussy whipped beta male.

Just had a quick google and there seems to be a whole subculture of pick up artists and a whole industry from books to videos to courses to support them.

    From Paramo webby

I have a stain on my garment what should I do?

Prior to washing, try applying undiluted Nikwax Tech Wash directly to the stain – if this doesn’t remove it then phone Páramo Customer Services for advice on 01892 786444. If it is a very stubborn stain, like oil, we would suggest a professional dry clean and re-proof which we can organise for you.

Regatta from Go Outdoors, same company as Dare 2 b, they’re not gonna win any marks for style but it’s high on value, they have several which fit the bill. I’ve got the Bradwell, it’s absolutely fine and has changed my mind about cheap gear, in many instances I prefer wearing it to my spangly Rab softshell

They are a bit rubbish, haven’t tried any of the (not so) new “Team” variety, but you can extend the life of them by popping off the seals and packing the bearings with grease – there’s a surprisingly small amount in there. Managed to get over a year by doing this on my CX’er.

Another alternative is using the Hope GXP adaptors and a Hope BB.

First Chapter of Hydrogen Sonata, new Culture Novel on line

    Synopsis –

The Scavenger species are circling. It is, truly, the End Days for the Gzilt civilization.

An ancient people, organized on military principles and yet almost perversely peaceful, the Gzilt helped set up the Culture ten thousand years earlier and were very nearly one of its founding societies, deciding not to join only at the last moment. Now they’ve made the collective decision to follow the well-trodden path of millions of other civilizations; they are going to Sublime, elevating themselves to a new and almost infinitely more rich and complex existence.

Amid preparations though, the Regimental High Command is destroyed. Lieutenant Commander (reserve) Vyr Cossont appears to have been involved, and she is now wanted – dead, not alive. Aided only by an ancient, reconditioned android and a suspicious Culture avatar, Cossont must complete her last mission given to her by the High Command. She must find the oldest person in the Culture, a man over nine thousand years old, who might have some idea what really happened all that time ago. It seems that the final days of the Gzilt civilization are likely to prove its most perilous.

It is possible to let kids watch TV without them turning into couch potatoes.

They’ve got TV time now, just thinking about cutting it right back for all of us

You mean broadcast TV, or the whole hog excluding movies too?

Unsure as yet, early days, not sure how we’d deal with not watching the Great British Bake Off etc which we watch as a family and which the kids enjoy mainly for that reason.

Are your children into TV now?

Yeah, I think we all are, especially me, but when we go camping we don’t have TV we all really enjoy it, unsurprising because we’re on holiday but even wet evenings when we’re tent bound we’ve surprised ourselves by having a really good time.

    Can I ask why?

Spend more time together as a family, get more stuff done, stop letting screens devour our time – internetz/DS etc included.

For anybody into Iain M Banks, The tenth volume of the Culture series ‘The Hydrogen Sonata’ will be out soon

    Faptastic

I guess this is Sci Fi, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Poorly written but a proper Nerdfest for any child of the eighties, although with obvious American bias. A clunky, but enjoyable page turner.

Don’t really get the hullabaloo surrounding Michael Marshall Smith, I enjoyed “Only Forward” but didn’t find it particularly well written or compelling, maybe I’ll have to re-re-read it.

I really like the Chiba Drystars I bought from Merlin last year, has to be pretty cold to wear them though. Got them in one of Merlin’s sales for £17ish, currently £27. Maybe a bit chunky for the OP though?

I think the OP has gone off the Phantom.

Has the OP been in touch with Gore? They replaced (well gave me money for a new one) my 2 tear old Phantom N2S when all the zips started failing.

We’ve tried Orijen which was very good but spenderific, so looking for a cheaper grain free alternative we found High Prairie by Taste of The Wild, it’s American but can be bought on the internets, it’s still spendy in comparison to some of the regular brands but as Sandwich said above the cost per meal is not all that different as you have to feed them a lot less. Plus I like the idea of my hound eating Bison and Venison.

There is a British brand which is 75% meat, and no cereals, Applaws, but a total chicken diet proved to be Barney’s craptonite.

My old dear had run flats on her BMW 1er, the first lot – Continental(?) were laughably harsh, felt like solid rubber (not helped by “sports” suspension ) the second set Michelin(?) were better.

So does the razorpit work well? Sounds like a good way to save on blades.

I’ve had one since the start of 2011 – I’ve used about 5 (Mach 3) razor blades since then, I used to get about 4 to 5 shaves out of them, shave once every two days.
