Back from the vets, he’s ok and the vets are very pleased with the wound, fresh bandage (kerching) which we can take off ourselves on monday (phew no kerching) but boring lead walking for the next two weeks. Appointment booked for boosters on Wednesday (kerching).

Is it an ex-farm dog or an ex-racer? If so, many of them don’t spend a lot of time on pavements and tarmac. It might be best to build up walks on more solid surfaces so that its pads toughen and get used to it.

No it’s a rescue, we live in a town but are lucky enough to have access to various off road walks pretty close to our front door although he does a over a mile a day on tarmac on the morning school run before he goes to the common. So maybe more tarmac walking then

    What’s he cutting them on?

The first (bad) time – no idea it’s a large park/common all grass, pretty well looked after, well used football pitches there in the season. Loath not to walk him there as it’s the main place he hangs with his homies. Second time possibly flints, he does love it there but I guess we can go somewhere else.

I’ve checked out the ruffwear grip tex, expensive but cheaper than regular vet trips and I’ve just spend £140 on boots for me and the missus. Dogs eh, more expensive than bikes.

Unlimited and tethering leads to overloaded networks when people try to do without a landline then game or download massive files

Would people really do this with 3g/HSDPA speeds?

Another + 1 for the XTAR WP2, if you want a charger that does “everything” then the Nitecore Intellicharge i4 looks good.

At that end of the phone market I wouldn’t get tied into a 2 year contract, buy phone on PAYG and get a SIM only contract – much better value. Nothing wrong with the phone a bit low spec but should be fine for what you want.

I won’t be using it to watch TV or listen to music.

I could do with getting an idea of what my usage would be.

If you’re not streaming media or downloading podcasts etc on the move then 500MB should be fine

A friend has recently bought a LR Discovery, must admit it’s the nicest and most “grown up” car I’ve ever been in and would almost certainly get one if I had the disposable to do so. I don’t so I’ve got a Renault Scenic which is also overkill for 90% of the journeys I make.

I am mildly amused at the program, my 11 year old however is howling with the laughter at the P45 which is making me laugh a lot.

Ditto my 10yo daughter – laughing like a drain, turned a mildly amusing skit into a hugely enjoyable and memorable bit for me.

Bridgestone A001 all weather tyres are absolutely brilliant, on in November off in March/April, make an RWD BMW actually driveable in snow and ice. So two sets of tyres used for roughly half a year each = no extra expenditure.

The Nexus 4 issues: LG finally explains itself

Is the Nexus 4 production going to stop?

LG refuted this information [rumors said that the korean group planned to stop the production]. The Nexus 4 is not stopping. On the contrary, the pace will increase. Starting mid-February, there will no longer be any tension in the market.

For s bit of insight (well nearly 3 hours worth) into the world of (mainly athletics) doping the Joe Rogan Experience podcast #277 has Victor Conte ie Mr Balco on it, audio is available on itunes. Interesting but I now believe almost everybody in competitive sports is prolly hopped up on something.

We’ve got a Whippet/Collie cross, he’s a bit of a dick at times if I’m honest. At his best he is as the others have eulogised above, alas I think he has too much collie in the brain department. He’ll chase anything from a mobility scooter :face palm:, to a train in fact anything moving faster than a walk, although he prefers to be chased than chase other dogs, more sport in it I suppose.

    He loves these

more than anything else in the world, in fact you can see his eyes refocus and change as he goes into “ball mode”, he will run 500m across a park to hassle someone with a ball chucker. He is the sneakiest food thief ever, if the kitchen door is ever left open he’ll realise in 0.25s and be in and up on his hind legs checking out anything left on the side, if there’s nothing out he’ll just give it a good old lick down just to make sure he hasn’t missed a crumb.

Still I think most of his faults are down to his collie brain, he also seems to have collie levels of endurance combined with Whippet speed and maneuverability and will run almost any dog he has met into the ground, he’s a phenomenal sight in the woods running and bounding over obstacles. Some proper dog people (always men) with big hunting dogs (Weimeraners, Ridge backs etc) get the hump when our rescue lurcher tears up the wood leaving their pride and joy dogs a panting confused mess and Barney wanting more.

Despite his faults he has a great temperament is great with kids and (most) other dogs (he will bully wussie dogs) even eliciting playful responses from dogs whose owners have thought them well past such youthful japery. He does make me smile everyday and cry out in frustration too. I’d not hesitate to get another Whippet or any other sight hound/lurcher but I’d think twice about a collie or collie cross. My dog Barney, he’s a dick but I love him all the same.

Watch the walkthrough and follow it step by step, you need to download Trinity Rescue Kit on a different PC, create a bootable USB/CD (you may have to go into the BIOS of the laptop in order to boot from USB) and away you go. It seems a bit hardcore and has I guess has the potential to mess things up but follow the guide and you can’t go wrong.

Other option find a Win 7 disc of the same flavour as already installed on the laptop and reinstall the OS – there should be a Win7 product key sticker on the laptop.

Going to look at the recovery partition option as cannot get in to system to use downloaded options. Yhanks for the help but I’m still stuck!

You don’t need to get into the system to use downloaded options, if you’ve got another pc you can use that.

I recently bought a new PC with Win 7, set up everybodies accounts, set up my account giving myself admin previleges etc using a password I use for a couple of other things – must have typed it incorrectly twice and was locked out of admin privileges – d’oh! Tried a couple of simple things which didn’t work, in the end I used Trinity Rescue Kit

    Walkthrough –

Pretty easy to do, it worked.

Other obvious solution is to re-install Win 7

Bimbler, any idea why the mod has variable wattage as well as voltage?
    Cheers.

The VW mode measures the resistance of the tank/cartomiser whatever and then will provide the same power (?) to deliver the hit as you like it.

So I’m using a Vivi Nova with the 2.8 Ohm head at 8.0W, once the head is done (I’ve not got into re-wicking yet) and I put the 1.8 ohm head onto it the Vamo measures the resistance and then ups the power to deliver the same hit. Something like that anyway, I run it in VW mode as do most other users I think.

A really great source of info on E-Cigs are the numerous you tube reviews the two best reviewers I’ve found are

    PBusardo reviews

    and

I’d still rather have that than an Astra, higher (better?) driving position and more comfortable (a supposition have driven neither). OK it may not satisfy the vrooom vrooom constituency of STW’ers but it’s prolly a decent car, a better proposition as a family car than the usual 5 door hatchback.
