Hmm listening to it now, does it ever get going – it sounds like it’s building up to something but I’m 33 minutes on and it’s just sort of plinking along. Maybe not for me as I used to listen to techno and the harder end of the goa/trance spectrum.

Is barefoot the running equivalent of 29ers?

Possibly, maybe 29er SS – guess what I ride 😀

If you hate running and dont have any motivation why are you running (or thinking about running)

Why dont you you just go out and have a run?

Fitness – easier than getting on bike for a 45 minute run than a 45 minute ride – plus I can take dog, thought it might be fun if I can get beyond the “I hate running, me”.

“traditional heel strike running” there is no such thing. I have been running for over 30 years and I didnt and dont “heel strike” it unnatural.

Isn’t heel striking what “running trainers” sort of force you to do – that’s how friend explained it.

minimalist shoes? – not a bad idea

    This.

Friends have “sold” me on the idea that it’s much better physiologically than traditional heel strike running. But they’re pretty zealous about it and just wanted to get some opinions of other people expecially as I’m a total noob.

Bit of an “old” model now but Mrs has one and I’m very impressed, pretty much all the phone you need – only criticisms really are the slow shutter on the camera and a (being picky here) screen not quite as sharp as the current “retina” displays, but still very good.

My partner met someone at one of the kids activity things (swimming or something) who moved (from one nearby town to another) to get her children into our local “good” school from her local “requires improvement” school.

I wouldn’t move on the grounds that you outline but I would in the case of a school which showed “weaknesses in a significant number of subjects including English, mathematics, science, modern languages and design technology.” as she did.

My eldest daughter is in year 6 too and I actually prefer the local “good” school to the “outstanding” school which she ended up choosing.

The Dodge Journey – rebadged as a Fiat Freemont in Europe is not going to be released in UK, not sure why, it’s selling pretty well in Europe.

Spend £40 more and get one of these . Keep the phone 2 years and it works out to £7ish pm, or about 2 pints for us southerners

Very pleased with my tn 719’s seem bomb proof, but given the choice again I’d go wider, maybe p35’s, just gives you much more tyre choice

If you’re on orange, they were knocking out the motorola RAZRi for £150 which is a lot of phone for the money.

Missus just got one of these, very impressed. Pretty much all the phone you need if you don’t want something high-end.

I had it for a few months, never used the US one but by reputation a lot bigger choice over there (surprise!), however the US netflix has recently lost a lot of content as some of their studio deals have expired. Was a bit meh about it.

So now trying Lovefilm – seems to me to have a slightly bigger choice, interface (on Wii) not as good as Netflix and picture too not as good as Netflix prolly going to bin it when cheap trial finishes.

Our “ribby” lurcher (border collie x whippet – we think) gets about 2-3 hours per day. We could probably halve this simply by chucking the tennis ball for him but too much would probably be bad for his long term health and he’s too ball obsessed as it is already.

The SP’s 4.6-inch screen comes loaded with a 720p resolution, and underneath you’ll find a relatively snappy 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, Android 4.1, 8-megapixel version of the Exmor RS sensor, and 8GB of on-board memory.

Very good spec for the money. No real world experience but for the same price you can get the Nexus 4 (8Gb) and for £280 you can get the Nexus 4 16gb – which is what I’ve got and is a very good phone.

I like On One and 29ers (have an og Scandal) and have long pondered getting a Lurcher but the Canyon obliterates the On One on spec, both minging bikes though. What wheelset on the Lurcher btw?

No fan of the German obsession with writing the manufacturers name on every available surface. And the lurcher, I dunno I’ve tried to like it but I just can’t.

Have Alpkit wide boys, very happy with them, although kinda wish we had gone for Dozer’s, dunno why though because I’ve never had a poor nights sleep with the Wide boy.

Smoke detectors – I think probably more effective to have smoke detectors in all habitable rooms than have fire doors which, let’s face it, will never be shut. Presumably mains smoke detectors have secondary power source because not exactly useful if your electrics are on fire

Might get one of these too

Reading up on Combi vs Megaflo, seems even the staunchest Combi backers say that they’re not up to 2x showers, so I suppose a combi and power shower would work?

Anyway these are details at this stage I suppose.

We’d need a steel to carry the extra roof out to the gable and this would have to go into the chimney as that is central, would this stop the chimney working – currently have a back boiler which vents through the chimney – or would there be some sort of extra duct in there already?

Thanks all some good stuff here. Not sure I’ll need steels to hold up the floor, the joists (?) look massive and are fairly numerous. Another oddity is that first chappy said you can have mains smoke detectors in all rooms and/or fire doors, second chappy said fire doors and smoke detectors.

Checking this Planning Portal seems second bloke is correct?[/url]

    Thanks all so far.

MM – I’m in Hertfordshire so prolly a bit cheaper than London, asked the second chappy for a ballpark and he said about £32k (undecorated) without the Megaflo system and £36k with it.

Got one of those from a previous sale but it was much cheaper than that maybe £15, rubbish quality and half the tools are for defunct standards.

Happened to my daughter on her Android tablet, running a version of 4.1,the os defaulted out to resetting the tablet password using her Google password. If yours doesn’t do that you may have to factory reset it I think. If it’s Windows there are lots of different methods depending on which version.

If you count drinks then mine is Black Cherry Coke, which is sort of an actual name. Food only then it’s Black Starbar . Better than Black Cauliflower and Chickpea Curry I suppose, name wise anyway.

IMO the education system has been severely dumbed down, the level of literacy is often shocking, respect for self and others is at an all time low, responsibility and accountability have been replaced with laziness and self-entitlement etc.

Total bowlarks IME and IMO, although tbf we live in a niceish area and the schools of which I have experience of are “good” schools, both of which have strong minded, driven heads and motivated hard working teaching staff.

My eldest daughter, in Yr6, is certainly working far beyond most stuff that I was doing back an junior school in the seventies, they’ve also started doing – shock horror – grammar again. I didn’t even know what grammar was (i thought it was just a type of school) until I started doing French in secondary school. Sport is encouraged (my eldest is school sports captain/junior leader-whatever) and has taken part and had coaching in swimming, athletics, football, tag rugby, netball, basketball and tennis.

All in all much better than my seventies junior education, having done the rounds of the secondary schools over the last couple of years they also seem a lot better than the soulless, impersonal exam factory with grammar school pretensions and largely time serving teachers which I attended in the eighties. Thumbs up for “modern” education.

Been through various inflatables from Coleman, Camping Gaz, Eurohike etc and now much happier on Alpkit self inflating maps. More comfortable, much warmer and more compact if you take into account all the extra insulation you have to use on the inflatables. We went for wideboys but if you want ultimate comfort at the expense of weight, size and cost then go for the Dozer, or if funds allow the equivalent Thermarest.

Have an aerobed at home, think it’s massively overrated – much preferred our old (camping) Coleman inflatable (the best inflatable we had by a mile) to our (dometic) Aerobed.
