He took it to a PC fixer chappy and it’s the motherboard apparently. Thanks for help.

Just got off the phone with him, no sign of capacitor plague but the new power supply he bought had a 20 pin motherboard power socket, while the motherboard only seems to have 16 😯

Thanks all – described as dead dead no lights, nothing – I’ll get him to check for Capacitor Plague (new one on me, thanks)

Another shout out for an ASUS router, the slightly cheaper RT-56NU. I use Open DNS with no problems on it. Would prolly have bought the 66 if I had the cash. Originally purchased a Netgear N600 which had a much better GUI and roughly equivalent performance but it died after 2 weeks.

We weren’t allowed to find out in the hospital my eldest was born at in that London. Intentionally didn’t want to know for second and glad we made that decision.

Great shout OP, listened to this a lot recently especially on a 9 day decorating binge. Such a relief after listening to planet rock for years and becoming dog tired of the 600 (or whatever) tracks which they consider the entire canon of 40 years of rock music, plus y’know I like Metal, anathema to Planet Rock. Even laughed heartily in the shower this morning at Steel Panther’s “Community Property”.

German satellite TV – RTL I think have it, or at least used to. Amazing how little I’ve missed watching F1 since it went on to Satellite

Got one that looks like this, brilliant, not rechargeable though unless you splash out on rechargeable “D” cells and charger, batteries last ages though.

Something about the Italians calling it “Speeder”, the English thought they meant “Spider” and the rest is history, or at least that’s what FIL told me.

+1 Keen. I’ve got the leather Newport and love em. If I were to criticise them I’d say they were a bit heavy on the other hand they’re now in their sixth season and still going strong. Newports are fine for UK mostly but if I lived somewhere hotter I’d go for a more minimalist keen style. Also got some Teva (can’t rememberthe name and tthey don’t seem to have a direct equivalent, pretty techno though) which are much better water sandals and are okay for short walks/bodding around in.

My favourite piece of esoteric Stw knowledge was a when forumer asked an obscure lift (as in elevator) related question. STW did not disappoint.

Just got a new Panasonic smart TV, very, very pleased with the picture and the ability to play stuff from USB/NAS etc etc, but the Smart functions are a bit meh. I knew this before getting the TV but Panasonic are in now way as good as Samsung/LG maybe Sony at the Smart TV lark. The have a lot fewer apps generally but they do have iPlayer, Lovefilm and Youtube, but not ITVplayer, 4OD etc etc. The Smart phone “remote” does make navigation through YouTube etc much better than the clunkadelic UI of selecting letters from an onscreen keyboard. Interface is pretty good but a wee bit laggy, kinda wish I’d gone for the dual core processor (yes TV’s now have dual core processors on them) model.

Never really got on with mine, was so pumped when I got it and my first total bike build but it just felt a bit meh. Dunno perhaps I expected too much. Like other comments I always felt on the bike rather than in it, changed everything I could think of to make it fit better but to no real avail. Bought an og Scandal 29er as an experiment and sold the Soul immediately as I felt so much more comfortable on the Scandal.

They’ve been recalled in Australia and parts of Asia

But “apparently” uk/Europe unaffected. I wouldn’t get one until this plays out.

    Try the Guardian Newspaper

Came in to say this. Worth noting that the Guardian took the lead on the Snowden NSA/GCHQ spying thingy and have loads of spys, or trackers, on their own website.

Personally, I think they should be paid more, but barred form any other form of employment during their time as an elected member of parliament.

    Pretty much this^^^^

Large salary, flat living expenses – with 3 tiers, London MPs get a certain amount, Home Counties get another, provinces get larger.

No other jobs, no company directorates, no charity work, just MP-ing. 1 parliament ban on lobbying/joining lobby group after deselection/loss of seat.

To echo all above, nice house, decor tired. You may not want to watch Phil and Kirstie but expect Phil Spencer Secret Agent will give you lots of good ideas. Basically pale colours are your friend.

    +Spend some time/moolah on decorating,

    +Decluter.

+Possibly try and get some outside space inside pace thing going on, needn’t cost a fortune

+Get a better agent, better ad, better photos

    Profit.

Do you live in a van Bimbler? Maybe have a couple of dogs on string and a wardrobe full of purple tie dye clothing?

A man can dream. I also like this stuff but I’m guessing that also scores quite low on the “acceptable” music scale.
