the VM deal is worth a look but the speed is capped at 2 meg so if you download a lot that’s something to think keep in mind.

Don’t think so, currently getting about 3 meg at my desk, regularly get 5-6-7, got 14 the other day (may have been an error on SpeedTest?)

Having said that though if you are in a good 3 reception area I’d go with 3, just because they seem to have a good 4g strategy. I’d prolly change too but currently only pay £8pm for my virgin VIP sim.

Edit – Just did a bit of googling and apparently unlimited on Virgin Mobile means up to 3.5Gb after that you’re capped at 3g speed of 384 kb/s

Second the Al-Fez (currently 99p according to My Supermarket) stuff it’s pretty nice. I used to get a nicer one which was Australian but haven’t got that one for a while.

In the great tradition of stw “recommend me” threads I’m going to recommend the one what I’ve got, of the 3 I had last year, the best overall and the one which didn’t die is the TP-Link Archer C7

Our nearly 10 year old Bosch washing machine is dying so we popped down to our local Euronics and got a bit of a lecture about them.

Apparently they are all much worse than they used to be, and very much cheaper built, don’t expect your next Bosch washing machine to last as long as your current one has, unless you spend big on a Miele in which case they’ll last 10+years.

Recommended brands were Bosch, AEG and Miele. Mid end Bosch easier to repair than hi-end Bosch. Don’t buy lowest end Bosch as they don’t have a single Bosch part in them and are built ultra cheaply in Spain. He swerved us away from Hotpoint based on lifespan/warranty, seemed a bit prejudiced against Siemens but admitted 5 year warranty was good.

Power consumption of Ecoair is 390w on low and 620w on high, not incosiderable but so worth it. You may well save money on CH costs as the house feels warmer as it’s drier plus the dessicant’s use a heater, so it’s not completely “wasted” energy.

I bought the Ecoair model linked above, very pleased so far. Narrowed it down to that model or the more expensive Ruby Dry. Ecoair won out in terms of cost and two year warranty. It’s properly made a difference.

+1 for the Motorola G, bought daughter one for Xmas and it’s pretty much incredible for the money. Motorola / Google have pretty much rewritten the rule book for cheaper mobile phones, must be cheesing off a large proportion of handset manufacturers.

Do you select real time protection or not? will it use loads of battery or something?

Set it up on my daughter’s tablet/mobile as she downloads all sorts of nonsense.

Don’t have real time protection going because it slows her already sclerotic phone down even further plus I dislike the icon permanently visible. Not sure it eats up that much battery.

I don’t bother with avast or malwarebytes on my N5 as I don’t really download anything “that” questionable and always check the permissions/reviews of anything I do download.

id say its quashqui / xtrail / antara /freelander competitor rather – yes you can get a used one cheap but my point still stands that for 17 grand you wont get a new car thats similar in spec.

Not really, Qashqai yes, the others are SUVs. You also only get a 3 star NCAP rating. But you pays your money etc. I actually like them but an amazing bargain it is not.

“Diesel Duster with 4×4, Lauréate trim, touring pack, 5 year warranty and traction control £17k ish.

But its all relitive – thats not expensive for what you get – yes its alot of money and it will likely depreciate like a stone but its still cheap for what you get imo – and while its no looker id sooner have it than a quasqui

Well it still seems like a lot of money and puts it into the same bracket as base Skoda Yeti’s, Suzuki SX4 S-Cross and a myriad of nearly new competitors

Dacias look great vfm in standard spec but when you start adding extras they quickly become quite expensive

For instance base Petrol 2wd Duster with no options £9k

Diesel Duster with 4×4, Lauréate trim, touring pack, 5 year warranty and traction control £17k ish.

    Amazingly popular on the continent.
