In what way is it better than Sonos?

From their website they support 24/192 files, whether you can actually hear the difference out of the iddy biddy little speakers or not is moot.

I was mainly looking at one of these

Pioneer N50 and adding amplifier, although I have the nagging feeling that as these are two years old a new model is around the corner.

Or maybe one of these, Yamaha R-N500 which seems to be a pretty good compromise between hifi and a one box system.

I’ve also listened to one of these Marantz Melody jobs. The sound was amazing really and really surprised me, however it’s a bit plasticky and weighs just 3.5kg and can’t help feeling it won’t last that long. It really does everything though.

Had similar issues with a dying wireless router – have you got a spare? Check out the wireless network to remove that from the equation.

Went to Nerja a few years ago when mine were toddlers/babies – it was alright, definitely not “English breakfasts….” but y’know not the “real” Spain – whatever that means. Enough to see/do/eat, on the coast, fairly nice.

Give away most of it or set up some sort of charitable foundation. Buy house somehere – Ibiza? and here. Get prospectuses (sp?) for some boarding schools :D, travel.

Thanks for the replies, they are much appreciated, I’m going to avoid the the brands with too much “fanny/faff factor” I’m a fit and forget type of guy!

All 3 of the routers I talked about above were pretty much fit and forget, the Netgear being the easiest followed by the TP link with the Asus just a little bit more complicated (but I think that may have been my fault)

    Had 3 routers last year

Netgear N600 – good range, brilliant ui and app, occasional crashes – died after 2 weeks

Asus RT56Nu – best range, ok ui, crashed quite often, ran quite hot – died after 3 months

TPLink Archer C7 – good range, slightly better than the Asus on 5Ghz, slightly worse on 2.4Ghz, ac compliant, 1 crash in 8 months, UI better than the Asus worse than the Netgear, runs totally cool, bloody bright LEDS/notification lights

I kinda like them, they look different. Crossovers are the perfect car for older people, nice high driving position wide doors etc which is why I advised my old dear to get one.

If you hate on crossovers you’re gonna have a bad time – it looks like almost every manufacturer is going to be selling them

loving the look of the yet to be released Jeep Renegade – like a little Tonka toy

I’ve met a lot of dogs since we got our Lurcher, nicest dogs I’ve come across are Labradoodles and Cockerpoos, ie the poodle crosses. Cockers and border collies the biggest pita (I’m aware of the contradiction there). Oh yeah Lurchers are by reputation and ime fabulous with kids.

Apropos of not much but France doesn’t really have a second city either according to Zipf’s law.

Meh. Looks like an S4, which may be an excellent phone but it looks cheap and plasticky

Don’t most people carry their phones in “cheap” (mine cost £15ish) and plasticky cases anyway? *clumsy*

Interesting. I was about to post a what supplements do you take thread

The latest Joe Rogan Experience #459 had Dr. Rhonda Patrick on it (ads finish around 6:50), found it very interesting although I was a bit perplexed that she hadn’t heard of Myostatin Deficency.

Here’s Wired’s take on it, seems a sensible move for them but still a huge amount of money

LG is the Nexus 5’s sibling – bigger (better?) screen, better camera, much bigger battery. Samsung S5 is imminent as is the HTC One 2014. As an object the HTC is the nicest IMO as a phone I’d say the G2 or Nexus 5 if you like pure Android.

I don’t really get WhatsApp – doesn’t everybody get unlimited texts these days anyway?

Some perspective – what I copied from Twitter

    Netflix: $25.6B
    Tesla: $23.7B
    Macy’s: $19.7B
    WhatsApp: $19B
    Whole Foods: $19B
    Gap: $18.9B
    Sony: $17.7B
    United Airlines: $15.7B

Tesla is worth $24B – they only make 30000 cars per year
