Seeing this has not changed my mind about wanting a new Bell Super one bit.

Got a Moon Shield 60 and a Flare. The Flare doesn’t get a look in, unfortunately it’s too unreliable for me – just won’t stay on the flashing mode.

I’d say the Moon has a more secure fixing to the bike too.

Can’t go wrong with the Thompson.

I couldn’t get enough forward tilt with my layback elite. Found other seat posts can offer far more adjustment.

I do a 22 mile round trip with a back pack – works well for me 🙂 I don’t take much though, leave shoes and jacket in the office.

I used to use indoor football trainers with Endura MT500’s – worked a treat. The overshoes do take a beating from the pedal pins though, don’t expect them to last long!

I really rate my 20l trail – just the right size for my needs and very comfortable. Very secure on my back and very well compartmentalised. Fortunately haven’t needed to use the back protector, but nice to know it’s there.

11 miles each way, but was clear as you like on the way in. Starting to lay now, will see how it goes.

Got a spiked slick for the front and a balloon slick for the rear. Have copius amounts of zip ties to make effective snow chains if it gets deep.

Last year a large number of cars were abandoned on main A road round here. All got fines, some were towed away.

Underarmour balaclava for me when it’s seriously cold. It’s nice and thin so can still use the lid over it.

100 zip ties (never know when it may snow atm)
    Pump
    Spare tube
    Puncture kit
    Tyre levers
    Sram powerlink
    multitool

Some good suggestions – I do usually cook more than required, but I also manage to eat more than required that night too!

I’ll make more of an effort to cook and save for next day.

Alu ones. Don’t pay for proper branded bottle cage bosses. Couple of alu m5 bolts from Pro-Bolt or similar.

I did notice some rather obscene prices for a what is effectively a couple of alloy bolts over on CRC! Ta.

you want the Ti/Magnesium alloy ones with the carbon heads – lighter and 200% stiffer than normal ones

They sound awesome! You got an imaginary link?

Mine is the older maxel with the lever and the Bolt kind oth thing sticking out the opposite side.

I supose i could get a new version of the maxel

Wouldn’t fit. Get used to it or change the fork.

Sure? I swapped my Maxle with an axle running through it for one that doesn’t without any problems.

I went from standard to a Thomson layback because the original kept on slipping down. The issue was fixed, but then I had another problem – the seat adjustment didn’t allow enough forward tilt.

In the end I went for a carbon truvativ noir t40. It’s perfect, zero slip, improved comfort and lots of usable adjustment.

That said, I probably wouldn’t have changed a thing had the original post done its job properly!

Just get a Stealth Bomber and be done with it 😀

On a serious note, if you wanted a decent mtb with electric power I believe Cube, Corratec, KTM and Scott may have suitable offerings. I’m sure there are more too!

If you’re more into DIY and want more power (and maybe a more capable bike) then you could look at a DIY option such as a hub motor into an existing bike.

I think some of the manufacturer bikes are looking pretty good these days though – especially those with Bosch power.

I had a similar problem with a Mira Play – turned out to be nothing more than a poor design!

Basically the large push switch to turn it on was sticking on the main plastic body of the unit. Try pulling the body away from the unit when turning it on – you may be surprised!!

Google revealed this to be a very common fault btw. Hope it works for you.

I don’t follow? Maybe a little work, but you can filter them down to the 128 60cm fridge freezers and compare 3 at a time side by side? Will take about 15 mins to get a short list together.

Have you looked at “appliances online dot co dot uk” yet? Does everything you need to pick one out.

I really rate ‘appliances online’ – great site, easy to use, lots of choice, cheap, can compare all you like after filtering down the options to suit your needs.

Used them twice in the past and can say that they have the best delivery service I have ever come across. Worth a look-see.

You appear to have a thing for bikes that look like labradors shitting.

Being the owner of a labrador myself, now you say it I can see exactly what you mean! The Mondraker particularly, but I still love the look of the thing. Odd.

    do you not like stems?

Not when my amazeballs are flung into them! But I do like the uninterrupted top tube to bars the integrated stem creates.

Electromagnetic suspension that can be controlled on the fly from the bars? (Audi have this on some of their cars I believe).

Electronic wireless brakes without any feel to them, but lots of servo assisted power?!

I use Maxxis FR tubes on my HT and DH on my full suss,i weight 18st and never had a puncture with them even doing the Dudes of Hazzard and Inners uplift days. Downside is they are heavy tubes.

That’s what I’ve been using for a while. They’re ok, but still getting punctures! Not too fussed about the weight, just thought a change of material might help.

Everything’s a compromise in the end, whether it be cost, weight, hassel mess or whatever! I’m sure I’ll find something suitable in the end!

People on here spend much more than that on stuff they don’t even need! The Evans £20 discount thread is testament to that!

I doubt riding across a lake would puncture any inner tube, but I don’t want to go off on a tangent really.

Fine on SRAM as that’s how I roll, can’t comment on Shimano.
