    I thought it was alright.

I know, that opinion wouldn’t fit with it’s trolling script aimed to polarize.

Thought Lotus would have got a mention when they were testing that toy car and banging on about light weight, small-engined models like they’d just discovered the wheel.

Who would still watch it if it wasn’t on on a Sunday night?

Did someone say Heartbeat’s coming back on? miiiiiiiiiiiiiint!

People get swept up by the times that Rossi can post in testing, practice, quali etc but then he gets smoked by the kids when they start the race on cold tyres.

He wont win a ting if they don’t sort that area.

    For people planning to drive..

I decided to head through Lux and avoid the tolls last year.

It added 3 hours on but I avoided €75+ in tolls for the van and fuel is dirt cheap in Lux so swings and roundabouts if you’re in no mad rush.

Anybody have any experience of the Valle D’Allos area?

    Excellent programme.

Says a lot about personality types.

Not sure I could look a man in the eyes then leave him to die even if I knew the consequences of my not doing. Suppose a person would have to be put in the situation to truly find out what they’d do.

I blame everyone called Jeremy (apart from Beadle)

Fundementally and perhaps too simplistically shit doesn’t sell if we’re all on the same side. We buy more of one thing and even promote it if there’s a ‘them’, who we’ve been made not to like, buying the other thing.

Does that make sense? It did to me before it left my head.

Some decent budget bikes around at the moment.

Would be nice to get something fancier but I don’t have the cash and couldn’t justify it with the use it would get.

The amount of frame only second hand sales speaks volumes as for the VFM of the YT Tues (components).

Only 2 basic maps I’ve just found but may be of some use to you..

    Thanks jameso.

Jambalaya I cant really tell you that much as it was just a bit of a rushed last stop in that area before heading up to Pres de la joux.

Not sure how much you know already but there are 2 mountains to go at for pure DH. One very tree lined with exposed roots here there and everywhere. The other more rocky but more exposed and accessed by multiple lifts.

It was the first mountain with the main lift which most interested me as I knew from looking at a map supplied in the lift station that there were miles and miles of trail off the back of said mountain.

I did explore a little but as I said was limited on time. Thought of going back but it doesn’t really fit with a plan to return to Aosta/Pila then south to Valle D’Allos.

I’d highly recommend La Clusaz, the village is beautiful.

I went in the last 2 weeks of the season on a 140mm bike with air shock. My arms and wrists were ruined. Part of the reason for wanting to combine DH with XC this time.

You guys just cost me £35 for some Saints.

My Sunline V1s have lost about half of their pins and since I had them painted are pretty slick. Loved their width, although thought they did make me look a bit *special*

    Thanks everyone.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the classifieds of a few sites for months thinking something suitable might come up but things have been quieter than I expected.

As an aside does anyone know of any demos coming up withing reasonable distance of Halifax?

I was looking at Fraser Mcglones(?) 322 for a while but it sold.

Its back up for sale again now with the owner saying its too small for them.

Wonder if I could get some sick skills thrown in for 3k…

As much as I’d love that bike (although for 3k i’d prob just spend a bit more for full carbon frame and better resale value) think I’m looking closer to the 2k mark

Are Syndicate riders on standard frames!?

I’ve heard that Glorys feel pretty good for the monkey-armed of us.

YT industries…not heard that much of them. Need to look into that.

I’m on a 2012 Five with 50mm stem and ridiculous bars for uk stuff, think they’re 820mm. Never cut them down. Feels perfect.

My budget’s not vast so been looking at used Scalps and alike. Would love a v10 but not sure I can justify the pricetag to use ratio

So up to this point it’s the law because gov say its bad.

Don’t get me wrong I’m no advocate of any drug. I know pot heads who dont leave the house some days, I know beer monsters who drink when the doc has said it will kill them soon. I know coke heads who are fighting and smashing places up every weekend. (I do know decent folk too)

I know people who understand and practice balance and moderation in life. So maybe it’s primarily illegal so as to babysit the people who can’t moderate their behaviour and take personal responsibility.

manufacturing prohibited weapons for your own ‘private collection’, or growing japanese knotweed in a pot plant in your conservatory.

I see risk in these two activities and your other example is a taxable industry so I see logic there..

Can’t see how it would be different to saying it’s okay for someone who doesn’t interact with the rest of humanity to watch child abuse images on their computer, not directly harming anyone else (assuming it’s not paid for) etc….

The images will have come from the direct abuse of a child somewhere. A crime.

    We are a strange bunch.

Do people think there would be all this outrage if it wasnt presented to us with the nhs taxpayers money angle?

We seem to not be able to care about our fellow man until we’re told their negative actions are taking money out of our own pockets.

I dont assume an individual has got fat from being lazy miketually

I’m not assuming laziness on an individual basis I’m stating it as a general cause.

As I said in my first post I’m judged in a similar way without people knowing a thing about me but I have enough about me to see that the generalisation is true.

    billysugger

I was talking about the majority of fat people. You’re not in that majority grum. You’re defending them from one of the minorities who are fat for reasons other than being lazy.

    billysugger

I think your attitude could do with a some adjusting grum.

Maybe some exercise right now would mean you forget your obsession with winning an argument.

Are you one of the people who are fat but try not to be therefore boil like a kettle when generally true generalisations are made about lazy fat people?

    billysugger

I’ve been part of a minority that people are often prejudged and generalised about but i’m a rational enough person to see that I don’t fall into the category thats causing the pant wetting. It seems if you are a fat person, for whatever reason then you’re so defensive that you cant see that this generalisation is true..

The majority of fat people are fat because they eat too much and dont move enough because its easier than MAKING yourself adopt a different lifestyle.

Plus how can a fat parent look their child in the eye and try and be taken seriously about weight issues. I see lots of people expecting their child to develop the strength of character to make their own path to good health.

Take responsibility and if thats the road you’ve put yourself on then more power to you.
If you’re fat because of some factor beyond your control then I wish you all the best with it.

    Are you me sharkattack?

I now have 2 bikes, a tent, a van and a camera. I’m going to the first 3 rounds of the downhill world cup this year which starts in Scotland then goes to Italy and I’ll have a month to kill until round 3 in Andorra. While I’m in Europe I plan to meet and mingle with as many people as possible and take advantage of any and all opportunities that come my way. I’m hoping to not come back and spend the winter somewhere warm and pleasant like southern Spain or Portugal. I have no idea what is actually going to happen but I can not wait to get started.

Also grazing the info in this thread with great interest.

Nice plan. I’m just grovelling around doing any old work til maybe April when the weather perks up and I’m doing something very very similar.

Burned out in a job a few years back and left to try and do something similar but circumstances put a stop to it. The start of it was to drive to the Le Mans 24hrs and go from there. Was a very very memorable 6 weeks. Hope it lasts longer this time. 30 winters in a row here is soul destroying.
