There’ll always be the type of people that only get together to stand in front of a hundred of their ‘mates’ and get rowdy. Normally in football stadiums. Then there’s the people who have a valid point of view and do not make themselves violent because of frustration at their inability to express it. No fun filming them guys though.

Me personally, I’d have got up and wooped like Pastrana when he totalled that Scoob rally car….

Then gone home and sat in a ‘hell-yeah’ smokey de-brief whilst listening to some Pink Floyd til I looked like this…

Know one of the painters from Orange, went down there and looked at a good few options hanging on racks. I’d already made my mind up for apple green option but went to see if anything else jumped out.

I’m more than happy with it. Only other combo I considered was matt black front, white swingarm. I’d put pics on but I cant take photos with a pot on my arm

They were going to send Guy and Mave for elocution sessions but decided to send Ol’ Tarbuck for double instead. One thinks one is something one is clearly not.

Suppose the problem lies in the ‘them and us’ mentality.

This situation only serves to benefit the noisy minorities. The people with greivances (in both parties).

To some members of the public they only see the uniform, not a person inside and to some police officers they ‘are’ the uniform. They change into people who brand everyone as sub-standard when the shift starts. Like that military type who says “a civvie couldn’t do this”.

But thankfully (hopefully) as I said these should just be the ‘noisy’ minority, after all if the police force was mainly populated by such people there’d be anarchy.

There are bullies in every profession and the badge, cuffs and uniform are bully-magnets so it’s to be expected in a way.

    How boring is this thread…

Just watch ‘The Battle in Seattle’…paints the picture well.

I’ve yet to meet one that doesn’t have the same little man, football hooligan, lionheart when your mates are behind you, type. There must be some, just not in my experiences with the po po and that’s all I can go by.

MrSalmon I’ll admit that’s one argument against I’d not considered.

I’ve had a motorbike crash and been laid in the road with people looking at me like I was just a ‘type’. There’s a disconnection with a suited up motorcyclist as if there’s not a human being under the leathers and lid. Suppose the fact that someone looks more fragile might make people take more care when passing or look at this in a different light.

I don’t want it made the law. This would be very bad as it would add another page to the Dummies Rulebook for Life

Each to their own then I suppose. Like I said before it depends how and where you’re riding.

GW’s ‘rad’ statement is a bit of a stupid statement in my opinion. Sometimes I ride super steady for most of the ride then want to push it for a couple of minutes at which point, because I can’t magic up a helmet out of thin air I am glad I put it on to begin with.

I mean what’s the argument for not wearing one?? Looking uncool? I feel for you such people and don’t feel you should be treated if and when it happens. Good luck to you, it’s true, you might get away with it.

As for the ‘used to ride to school and I’m still alive statements’, me too. Only 15 or so years ago but how busy have the roads got and how many more distractions (sat navs, ipods etc) are there for drivers now? Not to mention how noiseless and insulated even basic cars have got and the fact that most have air-con only amplifies the ‘bubble’. People don’t rely on common sense now as they used to in most areas of life, they spend more time looking at their speedo than the road. Living to the rulebook.

Each to their own. I’ll be wearing mine.

Why do I feel like this statement has been made a few times before I joined this site.

Guess there’s no ‘rulebook’ answer, only common sense.

Suppose it depends why you’ve been off. Not been here long so maybe I’ve missed something…

I’ve found after being smashed to smithereens in a RTA(just wanted to type that word) I’ve found gradually building up targets with swimming first before getting on the canal bank (building up targets) then getting back to the rougher stuff worked well for me. Boring as, having to swim round people in our local pee filled pool then having dogs trying to pull me in the canal but jobs a good un so far..

Depends what you’re riding like and where.

If I was out alone caning it through the trees and rocky stuff I’d be wearing one. Out with my young nephew taking it steady maybe not, unless I was showing him what he should be aiming for. I remember riding with older, fast lads when I was younger and thinking fk yeah I’ll have some of that when I’m older.

Any time spent on the roads at all then yeah I’d be wearing one 100% of the time. There are some total, total sh1tbrains on our roads immersed in their living-rooms-on-wheels.

    Thanks everyone,

Bored was probably not the right word, we are spoilt in this area but when you’ve been doing them for as long as I have…I probably need to be out riding with some fruitloop that’ll push me on a bit more. You know how it is, tend to settle into a riding comfort zone.

Guess it depends if you want to push yourself or not.

For me it’s exercise but it’s also about wanting to give up and not doing.

Round our way gyms are full of rock stars and pools are full of old people and p1ss.

    Anyway I’m away the noo

Started making the effort to definitely go out every other day for at least an hour. In any weather. Then you gradually end up doing more and more. Was on the local moor a couple of Sundays ago with it going dark. That much wind and rain I thought ‘this must be what stone-work feels like when it’s being sand blasted, sod it, I’m turning round’ then some guy has the brass cheek to jog past me. Right, not having that, pedalled my way through the rocky streams that should be dry paths, made it to the top and hammered back down it and home in the dark (well, as light as 5 year old cat-eye contraption allows). Not felt that sense of achievement through adversity for years.
