We’re riding different roads. Loads of B ones round here. I’m buying another one day..

If you want a bike for all occasions as with every all in one-er there will be compromise.

My YZ450 was geared to do 110 but that’s why it blew up. They’re not made for constant high revs. More corner to corner squirt

I’m a big Aprilia fan, having owned, put 20k miles on then smashed to smithereens an 03 RSV but those big supermotos (and big KTMs) are just wrong, a compromise.

Supermoto is about light, flickable fun, not all day comfort. It’s about grip, lean angle, wheelies, riding up ginels/snickets and just generally upsetting hand wringers.

Sounds like you want to give her beans now and then so I’d seriously recommend a track day with whatever you buy. Find out what you and it can do without frost/diesel/lamp-posts/manure/potholes/them smallest french cars with the worst drivers/mad cyclists.

You’ll probably do what a lot do and push the limit on the roads slightly more and more as time goes on. An approach which favours the involvement of luck.

    Just Skeletool or Leatherman Skeletool?

    Me?

All of it, it’s lacking something too, maybe a Dirk….. or Hans or something

This feels like the day I accidentally clicked on a faces of death video. I’m changed.

Looks like we might be getting silly over the road then.

Is there phone reception up there? 😮

    You’re right Deviant.

    And I agree totally.

Thread hijack – Who’s going to want to see Colin Edwards and Ant West rattling round at the back 4 seconds off the pace? They should have an under 21 championship on the CRT bitsas instead

    Thanks peeps.

Weather’s due to be good and I’m only an hour away so won’t be too disappointed if I have to do a few runs.

Isn’t there some trails over the road? Might try these if we get (nearly put bored but that never happens on 2 wheels) silly.

For the road – Yamaha wr450f with supermoto wheels. Fun fun fun. Fun

But yeah, I see your general point

You’re not that STW. I take it back.

You’re so money supermarket STW Graham.

Just don’t still be rolling up to junctions looking left when there’s traffic approaching from your right and we’ll all be happy.

    billysugger

Yes traffic will be coming from the right, but anything could be happening to your left: someone doing an odd manoeuvre or pulling out a driveway/shop next to the junction, a pedestrian crossing from the left, a cyclist lying in the road after being hit

So your first instinct is to look left? Don’t know about anyone else but I roll up to a junction looking right when I know this lane is clear I’ll then look left. I’m talking about people who look to get fliers from give way junctions, not stop junctions.

I’ve ridden motorbikes for a good 10 years and I see a lot of people caning it up to a give way all the while looking left. This used to scare the bejeesus out of me.

A couple of years back it was a farmer looking left while crossing my carriageway that nearly did for me.

I could start a thread about farmers and illegal vehicles/shit strewn roads blah blah

Some reactionary modwannabe will probably report me for sharing my own personal experiences but here goes..

I’ve driven tens of thousands of miles, seen good and bad male and female drivers but there is definitely a trend I have noticed. When a car approaches the road I am on from a side road and the person is looking left it is more often than not a woman. IME and all that.

I have male friends who are less coordinated and aware when driving than female friends but this does seem to be a trend.

Jacked a job by telling the boss what I thought of his sinking ship and all the ‘family’ members he’d employed to make eachother brews in their offices. Went driving/biking round France for 2 weeks then over to Ballycastle for 2 weeks for the NW200.

Got a simlarly dead end job upon my return.

It’s really easy to do if you are:

    2) Adaptable
    c) Childless and mortgage-less

    FFS when’s it pie time??

I’d pie him for his annoying whiney voice alone never mind over use of the word proactive.

He should have to wrestle the guy in glasses to the death. That would be better TV.

To be fair to derek this country is wrong to legislate for the nutters.

If someone wants to go nuts in a school and kill a load of students they could do it with some cheesewire. But then I suppose it makes the worriers feel more safe if the government blanket bans something in such a way

EDIT Was going to say it’s ok if you live in bear country but would a bear attack if someone let an air bomb off in it’s face

Yes, you can get ‘behind’ the seat for really steep stuff but that puts your weight really far back and is more of a ‘hold on and survive’ pose than an attack position. If you want to ride downhill fast, I think you’ve got to have your seat down – particularly if you’re the kind of rider that likes to hit things hard and hop over the odd obstacle.

    This

Buy one. Reverb. 6 months no problem.

If you ride long descents that change incline where one minute you want to peddle like a banshee and the next the trail steepens then you’ll love a dropper. My back could have been given such an easier time if these were around 10 years ago. Yes you can get behind the seat on steep descents but that stretches you out of shape and tends to put more shock through your back.

Where can I buy that little orange number Sir Sean’s wearing above? I could rock that look.

Done that in reverse rockhopper. Really slowly, desperately looking for a trail off that cobbled road. That’s a waste of a steep hill.

Not sure about the filing cabinet thing. Might have been funny the thousandth time. Yeah people who buy because of hysteria should be mocked but I only live less than a mile from the factory and a mate works there so I can feel all warm inside about making his job secure for the fraction of time he worked on mine.

The Omen music on the video on the last page is more suited to xfactor than that trail.

    Tame.

So, I’ve been on 2 wheels for 20+ years and never ridden at a trail centre. I’ve watched this thread and t’other one and am none the wiser as to which I should try first. Personal taste it is then?

billysugar, your pretty much a Hebdener then arent you?

My mum grew up there. Explains a lot about me really.

I’ll be there tomorrow slipping and sliding around Hardcastle Craggs area on me green filing cabinet.

Uh-oh the internetters just got local:)

Hebden seems to have got a lot less edgy after dark. With the new skate park it seems to have given the yoof something positive to do.

So what conditions can the UK launch a nuclear attack under? Presumably as a response to one.

Not my opinion Elf but it basically boils down to the time old statement:

    Because it’s ‘us’ not ‘them’

That’s about the size of it neils.

I watched a player for the local football team start on a (dickhead) spectator the other week. It’s different.

So far as riding goes I hope you like hills. Good place to just explore
