I’ve done both in the team event – the course at mayhem is easy peasy, the one at plymouth is a bit more engaging.

Atmosphere wise mayhem is bigger with more trade tents/shops etc & the 24/12 is quite a bit smaller.. if I was going solo I’d probably do mayhem, because the 24hr racers seemed to be in the minority @ last years 24/12 & it was about midnight when all the 12ers stopped & the rain really set in…

I was recently very tempted with apple tv, to the point of harassing the people in the apple store about it. Was trying to work out what it could do for me.

I then realised it couldn’t really do anything that the ps3 couldn’t apart from play any itunes drm, of which I don’t have any.

DRM still winds me up – as what I would like to do is download movies from the itunes store as they mostly have 5.1 sound, whereas the ones on the ps3 store mostly still seem to have 2.0 & then stream it to the ps3 without paying £104 for the privilege.

From what I’ve seen, the cost of tickets is reaching a silly level. Are people still prepared to pay? Are all venues sold out?

Seems to me the big gigs are selling out within seconds – however I’ve been to a couple (Oasis/Foo Fighters @ Cardiff springs to mind) where there have been loads of empty seats, but lots of touts outside with handfuls of tickets. So my guess is the touts are artificially increasing prices.

There used to be 3-4 indie record shops down this way, there are now none, only HMV that isn’t much better than a supermarket for buying cds. Shame really.. that said the last few albums I’ve got have all been downloaded.

Chances are it might not output sound through hdmi – you might have to hook it up separately from the headphone socket for sound…

Apparently not very good for mountain biking – the interior is just proper exposed & windy – a lack of trees offers no shelter.

I went in May 2007 the evenings were starting to draw out nicely, barely saw any darkness. I expect April will be too late for the northern lights.

As others have said the golden circle tour is good. The iceberg lagoon at jokulsarlon is truely a magical place. We hired a car & explored the south side of the island, every time we went round a corner we were treated to another fantastic view. Definitely want to go again one day, but there are plenty of other places I want to visit first!
