They were a very expensive alternative for a couple of turns of inner tube secured with tape. IMHO.

You say that as if thats a bad thing… Look tidier though…

What a trip down memory lane.

I am one of the above "missing persons" but I'm not saying who…

As a matter of interest, do you know what it weighs?

    Not a clue…

V.nice, but your saddle is tilted back?

Dunno, it might be. the saddle has a raised nose so it might look worse than it is.

    Yep – BP.

Best time to go? Anytime it's quiet.

Great for nightrides, but my favourite time is proper early in the morning.

Not had a run in with a ranger in ages as they seem to be very lazy and don't bother to leave their Landys at the entrance.
You get the occasional bit of verbal/dirty look from Dog Walkers who clearly think they own the place but to be honest most people are fine and it's such a big area anyway.

What are they going to do ban bikes?

Having said that I would avoid riding there at 3pm on a Sunny Sunday.

ph0010421 – The pics are taken in a special cheeky riding spot that doubles as Leicestershire's biggest Deer related Tourist Attraction.

Short stems rock – was running the same 40mm stem on my PA before building this up.

On an entirely related note, this got build tonight.

I have them on my singlespeed.

    They are very very stiff.

How do you design a bike for use at a trail centre?

You make it so it looks nice infront of the Dropoff Cafe/Hub at Glentress.

The only things I have seen with "designed for the UK" have been hardtails with big forks.

    It's all marketing guff.

Anyway, some yanks do get the big forked hardtail thing as well, but they are generally in the Pacific northwest or in New England. Which makes them almost Canadian.

Having ridden all around Europe on a Dialled Prince Albert with marz Z1s there does seem to be a different interpretation of Mountain Biking and what would be deemed to be a good ride.

Case in point in Lake Garda you had to make sure that you explained to anyone recommending routes that you weren't German/Italian and that you liked a bit of Tech.

I think the Euros tend to treat XC and DH almost as separate sports and don't get you can combine the 2 in one ride.

Average issue IMHO. So that would be about 1000% better than any of the competition, apart from possibly DirtRag (which is bloody hard to get hold of now Borders is dead).

Keep up the good work STW Gents.

I think the previous 3 issues have been bloody corkers by the way.

I'm sure there are people on this thread who complaining about the size of portions in restaurants and how "that's very expensive…", and probably could do with getting out a bit more.

Mike/Ash, is that an EBB on that Alpine?

Lots of talk about long legs/short bodies on here.

It's worth remembering that the relative lengths of the shin and thigh can vary markedly for the same length of leg.

This obviously affects seated pedalling and optimal saddle positioning.

Hi Guys not sure if this is allowed as I am essentially hijacking hubby's username, but he left it on the computer so have decided it's fair game!
We got one of those Tommee Tippee Suresound ones with the pad that goes under the mattress in case they stop breathing.
I've got to be honest and say we used it for about a week when our baby went into his own room at 3 months but it kept going off when I'd get him out to feed him and freaking us all out!
I don't remember it going off for no reason, but then we didn't use it for long so probably not good test. Had friends who used them and were pleased with them. For peace of mind they're worth it. We got ours cheaper at TK Maxx- worth a look. Good luck!

    I have had 2004 130mm Fox Talas, 2004 130mm Marz Z1 FR SLs and 140mm 2006 RS Pike Air U-Turns on my Mk1 PA.

All have been fine but the Pikes were the best over the Z1, only just though. The Fox forks were the worst by a lot.

"billoddie – what is the "point" of night riding? "

Ummmm riding in the dark, ie with less light than in the day making it a bit different?

If you are riding around with 2500lumens you don't get a different experience to riding in the day.

I'm putting 24hr racing to one side here.

I'm using a 5 mode P7 Torch on it's own mounted to my helmet.

Low = Easy climbs/ being seen
Medium = Harder Climbs/Flat/Faster Road bits
    High = Descents

To be honest on high you really couldn't want more light. If you do you are probably missing the "point" of nightriding.

Personally, don't think its so much the where, as the how, you live.

    Well said that man.

However, such common sense and well reasoned thought is not welcome here.

Can I be the first one to say "Man Up Princess!"

I have these rims and I can get all my tyres on and off them (Maxxis, WTBs, Halos, Panaracer) with just my thumbs.

Maybe my thumbs are manlier than yours though.

Would seem rude for me not to wade in.

Cats = Apex predator introduced into a ecosysrtem not eveolved to cope with them. They are horrid shitting things too.

    Cat owners = stupid.

    Pythons = on order.

They are forky, they are fine.

Same length as a 100mm sus fork.

    Quite stiff like Project 2s.

What else would you like to know?

bend to find someone ambling along at 10mph next to the white line?

Or a horse or a tractor or a queue of stationary vehicles.

Surely you should be driving within your stopping distance?

I have a 13 month old and another due at Christmas.

    It’s not baby-sitting it’s “baby wrangling”.

In addition to the points above:
    1) Grab any opportunity to ride you can.
    2) Low maintenance bikes rule. Singlespeed or roadbike for example.
    3) Be organised, keep your pack um packed and just grab some water and go.
    4) A quick 30mins on a turbotrainer can do wonders for your fitness (but prod not your mental state.
    5) I do weights too in winter when I have not enough time to ride but want to do “something”.

    Ace event as ever.

    Regarding the overtaking.
If there was space I would pass and shout which side I was passing.
If there wasn’t space I’ll happily sit behind. It’s not a race after all.

Has to be said, I did not see anyone get held up by anyone pushing a bike.

    Was proper muddy though… ;-)

Cafe seren whilst not cheap, the Curry on the Sunday night was very nice indeed.
