I watched the episode purely because sections of the internet were complaining about the wokery and wanted to see for myself.

While the woke stuff seemed silly to me and added nothing to the story I think their time would have been better spent complaining about the terrible plot, writing and acting.

TJ I largely agree with you, humanity faces huge challenges. I think the push back you’re getting is the assertion that billions will die. That’s your opinion not fact. I personally disagree, humans have a great many flaws and are pretty terrible at forward thinking but when our backs are against the wall we can do amazing things.

I’m sure that in the 1930’s as the nazi war machine rampaged across europe things looked pretty hopeless but people fought on, persevered and things improved.

As the plague ripped through Europe things must have looked completely hopeless but humanity marched on.

Take your pick of any of the many disasters that have faced us and we persevere. The general trend is upwards.

this is an interesting and nuanced point. You bring up big mo, he’s a national treasure I love the guy. I’d have to stick to my guns though, if he commits a crime it’s different than if a ‘native’ commits the same crime. After the sentence is served big mo gets deported the native stays.

Here’s the thing, we’ve been talking about immigration for many pages now. This wasn’t my intent, I was interested in what makes someone ‘right wing’ in the UK today. Say I was to completely concede the immigration point, what would be considered right wing in the UK today (immigration aside) 

and yes I would consider changing my approach if it’s perceived that way

ok, perhaps I didn’t explain my position properly. If you commit a crime you should be treated equally under the law. So if you were to for example steal something you should be equally tried under our laws. A native thief and an immigrant thief should receive the same punishment, however after you’ve served your time the native thief is let back into society, the immigrant thief should be deported IMO
