Seatbelts on bikes make absolutely no difference, on local roads, or in Amsterdam.
Just thought I should clear that up, bikewhisperer

I got so bogged down in the simile they sort of blended together as one in my mind..

    Yes, yes and yes.

Anything else is like saying that I wear my seatbelt on local roads but take it off when I get on the motorway.

Curiously I feel no compulsion to at all when I'm in Amsterdam though.. Strange how the brain works!

The problem is the sleeve ends. Take the cable out. Take the sleeve end caps off. Trim the pointy out bits of wire off the sleeves and then reassemble. It should work fine then.
Replacing the sleeves will cause the same thing to happen again in another 3 months.

Eyeleted rims don't like it. Hayes brakes DEFINITELY don't like it. The paint around your bottle bosses won't like it… The inside of the bolt heads won't like it either.
And I bet you a pound that your brake pistons won't like it!
The only real cure is to rinse the salt off after each ride.

I've got a front xc3 24 spoke. Plenty stiff enough for me (70kg). They're wound up nice and tight.
Go for the 3bolt! Just coz it looks super sexy. However, you may need to true the rotors a little when you get them. One time only though.. It's just coz the rotor is narrower so it's less supported. Mine's not warped at all since.

Mine gave my brake rotor a good kicking while in a screaming temper. I sorted it straight out with an adjustable spanner. Wish I could have sorted her out so easily…

Never really checked on the flat, but got 50mph on a tarmac downhill on my Inbred when in NZ.
    Fastest Inbred in the south!

They'll feel slightly more wooden, but won't the slightest bit more powerful. Physics, innit?

Thanks for the inspiration guys! I decided a while ago to lay the booze aside in the new year, and I've been telling everyone so I can't fall back.
I've had too many lost periods on it since I told my crazy ex to go away. It's all too east to 'self medicate' in these situations. My fitness is fubared because of it but I want to go racing in the spring.
Being drunk is fun, but it's damn expensive and my body isn't designed for that constant punishment.

    Happy new year everyone!

The plain flavour SIS psp22 with the blue label doesn't have it I think.

EDIT: Yep, checked the bottle and it's 100% maltodextrin. I like the stuff as you can add flavour and electrolyte to taste.

Would probably be cheaper than the scooby on fuel!

Not the answer you want, but we did a cheap returns deal on a camper hiace in Tasmania last year. I loved the way it drove, especially sideways on dirt! Would recommend it for that. Don't know if maybe there's a camper returns website for the UK?

You could remove the spherical washers below the calliper and replace with thinner flat ones. Remove 2.5mm and you'll be sorted. Hopefully your mount will be straight enough for that to work.

It's not going to fall off the rim. It might squirm and fold over if you do corner hard at low pressures though.
IMHO there's not a huge point in running wide tyres unless you're putting them on wide rims and running them softer than a viagraless octogenarian.

Pace 506? I borrowed a 405 tester for a weekend a while ago when a customer didn't come for it and was very impressed. It climbed really well, and wanted to jump off everything.

Wow! The tread pattern on those Schwalbes takes me back to '92 and the Swallow tyres on my Dawes One Track!

    What awh said ^^
Pump them up to 60psi+ and shake them and bounce the tyre on the floor. They're mega porous so don't expect them to hold pressure until after a good ride.

    tried resin pads?

I've got that one. Cheap as chips for what it's actually worth! It's a big gap, but you can get used to it. You just have to treat the rear gears a bit different when you change the front. Mechs are a bit if a pain though. Bending an old xt mech cage stopped it rubbing so much at the extremes, but I'm going to try a newer mech with bottom swing to see if it improves.
The other thing is that the BCD is unique. You'll only get replacement rings from FSA.. I've been pondering whether to get a 42 from them to sort out the mech problem.

Not sure, prob not, but is it a 73mm bb shell? e-type bb will also be 2.5mm longer on the drive side shell cup. If your local lbs does not have an e-type bb in stock, you can bodge with a 73 and leave the non drive side cup sticking out a bit. Ugly but functional

I put a bit of innertube over the cleat plate, and under the waterproofing sticker. More about evening up the gap than insulation really.. I know rubber isn't the best insulator, but it seems to help some.

ive gone through 3 bonty mud x's

The crucial part of that statement is "bonty". I've holed sh*tloads of their tyres. They have feeble sidewalls. Nice and light and cheap and grippy when they work though!
Toying with maxxis LUST now.. Will see what comes of it.

    Wipperman 908 + squirt lube.
I normally whip the chain off after the ride, rinse it in the sink, and then dry it under the grill! Squirt has made this easier as I now don't have to scrub it. If you do this then don't loose half a split link down the u-bend….
Obviously I don't have a wife to tell me off for using the grill like this.

sometimes over tightening the limit screws causes it to not go to the opposite extreme. Due to the shape of the cam they touch. Try loosening both off 3 or 4 turns but remember where you had them.

Some bmx levers come in different flavours for calliper (and mini v) or v.
Some others have an adjustable mechanical advantage. On these you would want to set the cable end clip closest to the lever pivot.

Should be safe if you join it together with powerlinks.. My record for one chain was 5.

Light failure in the dark. P*****g down and no back up. 2 Hour walk down a hill. Never ever again!

I feel for you. My new p7 light decided to start cutting out in the snow today. Luck was closer to home though..

Mine was my front latex innertube exploding of its own accord at the very very end of a ride across Anglesey. I went from near 30mph downhill with a tailwind, to sliding on my left side to a stop on sharp new north Wales tarmac. I skinned my left side from shoulder to ankle, and ended up missing a good couple of cubic inches from my elbow. I wasn't wearing a t shirt coz it was a damn hot summers day and was told that under the missing skin, my shoulder had been given the equivalent of 2nd degree burns. Long time ow.

If it's got a couple of m6 bolt holes near the dropout then the bracket is a standard trek one.
It's a little baffling why they built frames with a couple of holes so you could mount a bracket to give it a couple of holes to mount a brake?!?!

Hayes are nice and powerful, but always always end up going wrong. They don't like mud and they really don't like road salt. Magnesium is silly stuff to make callipers out of.
I'm on the bandwagon here. Shimano all the way! The slightly squishier feeling of the newer ones is great. More control through the stroke.

bikewhisperer – how heavy are you? i'm thinking of doing the pro3 stans355 hoop combo, would you recommend

Bout 10 and a half stone on a good day! I've only put a minor ding in the rear wheel, despite having felt it floor a number of times. I'm a bit of a low pressure junkie too.. I've torn some Bonty tyres on the 819s without damaging them.
I'm very impressed with my new pro3sp + 355 front wheel though. It's soooopidly light. The spoke tension is very high and it feels just as stiff.

Got one bike with 5 year old 819s.. They're indestructible! However I got a stans 355 rim on a hope 3sp hub on the front of my new build and I like it. It's wider and shallower and a shed and a half load lighter.
