If you want to be a good tester, get up at 4am every day ride 3hrs alone on a fixed gear, try to pay as little as possible for any gear you own and then make sure you remove all of your friends from your life both on facebook and real life… that will sort you.

Or of course do a dowsett, get smashed once a month enjoy a nando’s and train like a dog

Fit on the XC90 is in my opinion far better that that in the Bonts which when I tested I had to use Orthotics to get the fit right… I use the M315’s and they have been fantastic too!

    I’m a DI2 convert… riding cables just seems,pretty crap in comparison.
I guess I’ll just have to save.

Having followed two people and overtaken two chaps on NW rings and Clutch with no guide but dropping a chain.. I’d still vote for one…

Yes I do, Once a week in the season.Twice if I’m short on time or the course that weekend will involve a lot of running… I always remeber nick craig telling me that it was more beneficial to do a 30 min run than a 40min ride.. in the off season I only run occasionally and start or season rarely…

I run a 34t and in the peak district…Its about the right gear for me,But I am reasonably fit and its on an Xc hardtail,I figure any slower than that I’d be faster to run…with 11-36,Planning to go with my 11-40 cassette than Marcin over at Absolute black is going to be doing… that should cover me for every course and ride.
    Hope that helps

    follow from top…

    Grab beer,pour into glass..take sip.

Remove shifter ,cable and front mech (take another gulp)

Remove chainset, rings from said chainset.. add an absolute black 104bcd in 34t Flavour in a colour of your choice, remove approx three chain links.
reattach chain with quicklink and then check length..remove a length at a time to ensure under decent shifting and tension across the block (finish the beer) look at the clean set up on the bike and realise you’ve lost a load of weight.

    Jobs a good’un

The SLX 7 looks great.. If I wasn’t supported by another great manufacturer I’d be tempted.. and on that note, Try a new Kinesis Aithein with Ultegra 11spd and wheels?

If only an aero Xc bike could make me an elite… unfortunately though frontal mass might be usefull at 55Kph we still stick a sodding wide number board on the bars.As for standing up round corners in mud,the converse is generally true..

I’ll be honest I’ve had some decent MTB races in my time, though never making elite as of yet I’ve certainly been at the front end of expert on some of the more testy tracks (Dalby, kirroughtree etc) and I have to say I would’nt say it was my technical ability slowing me down…even with my seat right up!

Having spoken to riders in Top euro teams earlier this year I believe there was some angst over moving to 11spd.. Its down to budget of teams and what the big group set manufacturers want to provide,If I could replicate my set up with disk at no extra cost or weight I would, but I’ve got 3 race bikes and 12 pairs of wheels..a collection I’ve built up over years.I wouldn’t hesitate in jumping on DI2 hydraulic if mr CEO of Madison is listening but currently I’m happy with my set up as is.
Id go hope or DI2 if I was going disks…

I cross cornering and cornering on a Mtb is so different.. and Some people are very good at finding the point which is just before decking it whilst going quickly.
I’ve done a fair bit of cross now so here’s a few tips:
1.Relax, try to stay chilled and not twitchy.
2.steer with your hips (point them where you want to go)
    3.look forward around the corner.
    4.Tyres /tubs make a huge difference.
5.Learn to pedal against the brake,so there isn’t a break in traction or application of power.
6.If in doubt foot out,we have spd’s for the reason we can clip out and in quickly so get that inside foot down and a tri-pod.

Hope that helps, If you need any more cross based tips let me know.

Hope run integrated bashguards and catchers, with normal short cage mechs (force) DC runs that anyway.

Im working with a proto type Absolute Black xx1 style ring for road crans as a proto soon, with standard Ultegra mech just to see how I get on.

Will update you as it goes.

why buy a 6 grand bike and not race it… It must be the most expensive shopping bike ever…

    bikerbruce

I’m looking for a cheap bike that I can thrash and crash without worrying.

Mate if you want to win races or finish rides… then I would reconsider getting a frame from these people, try hongfu or focus carbons or go alloy. If you crash as a result of a poorly made frame, wheels, bars… aka bits that usually break first… then Im going to bet that you’ll wish youd gone for an alternate
