^^^^I know, carry a recharging battery unit or only switch it on when you need it. Hence why I said they should explain the errors not just blame smart phone technology.

there appeared to be a complete reliance on a navigation technology which we would consider unsuitable for the terrain these groups are traversing.

I’m really struggling to get my head round this, I understand the error of having a complete reliance on one system, but are they saying that the smartphone technology is unsuitable for this terrain. If so why? Is it all smartphone apps or just some? I think explaining the errors would go a long way to making it safer as it would make people think about the problems and if necessary come up with solutions.

    >My favourite is peanut butter, chilli sauce on one piece of buttered bread and mayonaise on the other, then either three or four fish fingers(depends on size of bread). I’ll sometimes have some cheese as well in there.<

I’d never even heard of fish finger sandwiches until I spotted this thread but that is one vile concoction!

I take it you don’t like satay sauce then.
    P.S you’re totally wrong, it’s delicious.

Sorry – I simply do not buy 4 days food and everything else for 5 kilos.

Map wrapped up in tent and no watch to time your movement – basic safety fail.

What does a circle divided into blue and white quadrants say to you?

What mAh are you getting? I figured the higher the better.
The low self discharge versions seem like a good idea.

Tidal generators have been running for many years producing electricity.
    POSTED 56 MINUTES AGO #

How many years have they been testing?
How many producers have been lost to storms?
If we scale these up, how much infrastructure can we predict will be lost to storm damage?

Thorium – its not that it is a non starter – its that is unproven and experimental and not ready to produce energy yet. Who knows if it ever will be be. They are not the answer now.
    POSTED 37 SECONDS AGO #

Much the same as tidal power then!
Who knows how the equipment they are trialling will deal with environment.
    How will the infrastructure cope?
Can they cope with slack water?
