Junkyard – is THM still answering my posts / attempting to goad me despite me blocking him? What a strange sad inadequate little man. I must have really got under his skin.

would you please report him when he does?

I just knew some sad **** would come up with that one but we are discussing words that annoy not whether they make sense or not!

[Freud mode]Why does it annoy you that they are correctly using a word?[/Freud mode]

Aluminium as mangled the Americans to aluminum. They don’t do it to the myriad of other “ium” elements in the periodic table so why single that one out?

    Wikipedia Etymology
The various names all derive from its elemental presence in alum. The word comes into English from Old French, from alumen, a Latin word meaning “bitter salt”.[79]

Two variants of the name are in current use: aluminium (pronunciation: /?ælj??m?ni?m/) and aluminum (/??lu?m?n?m/). There is also an obsolete variant alumium. The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) adopted aluminium as the standard international name for the element in 1990 but, three years later, recognized aluminum as an acceptable variant. The IUPAC periodic table uses the aluminium spelling only.[80] IUPAC internal publications use the two spelling with nearly equal frequency.[81]

I’m not sure about it, but if it makes drivers think then that’s good.

    But they have rebooted it

V is an American science fiction television series that ran for two seasons on ABC, from November 3, 2009 to March 15, 2011.

And Diana had a role in it.

How do you quote a whole post, with the user name etc?
Thats a special site feature that only gets unlocked if you have a ‘P’. Thats why Fast Haggis has no idea how to do it.

    Ah, the ape index.

But you can have a positive or negative ape index when your span is different to your height.

Ah right TJ, I forgot he was a factor in your self imposed break.

If by self imposed you mean permenant lifetime ban, but not for obsessive arguing with THM, but his reaction to the ban for obsessive arguing. Why do you think he’s back as tjagain instead of TandemJeremy.

It’s natural selection, those that can wheelie get to breed, those that can’t don’t. After a few generations they can all wheelie.

I’m getting this as well on an iPhone 4s latest iOS, but not on the iPad.
Never had the pop-up ads issue, but today I haven’t been able to read a single thread on my phone.
I don’t click on ads and it’s now happening without clicking on threads.
Just tried Cougars suggestion and typed in the link, logged in and it still happened.

richc here’s a dictionary definition for you to think about.
Threatened: to cause someone to feel insecure or anxious
On your other point I have the same rights to use the path as the dog walker as long as I behave responsibly.
A dog chasing and then running in close quarter to me on an extremely icy path is threatening, see the definition above.
Was the dog walker behaving responsibly?

    BikePawl

It would be threatening because one wrong move from the dog could put the rider on the ground or in the canal. The key point is it was very icy, riding in a straight line was possible but any braking or turning would be dangerous. The owner was behind and had tried once to call the dog back but with no success.

richc, would you consider a dog chasing after and running along side of a cyclist on a canal tow path covered with frozen puddles threatening?

Have he and TJ ever met for realsies?

Many years ago they met for a few pints in Leith, The Malt and Hops I believe.
However after TJ was banned from here he fell out with Fred for arguing to much with his Facebook friends and banned Fred from his Facebook. Quiet ironic.

When I was in sixth year, there were only three of us doing Physics so we got to sit in the store room between the two physics classrooms.
We were bored one day so started playing with a bottle of mercury rolling a ball of it around a desk. We dropped it on the floor and started to try and get it back in the bottle. Well the head of physics walks in and was apoplectic with rage.
Not because we dropped the mercury on the floor, but because my mate was trying to pick it up with a magnet. Doh!!!

This has always been a problem in Edinburgh stairwells. I once had a bike torched because the thieving scumbags couldn’t nick it, they piled newspaper up and used that to start the fire.
Could she buy a longer chain and lock that round round multiple bits of the bannister/railing then d-lock to that.

This year we’re trying a different recipe for the sloes.
Tasted Patxaran whilst on holiday and it was wonderful.
    1 litre of anissette
    750g sloes
    2 tablespoons of sugar
    6 coffee beans
    Cinnamon stick
Leave to steep for 6-8 months
Who knew they use sloes in the Basque Country.
