I’m in the repack bearings camp, as Andybrad says use a sharp stanley blade or a fine pin then repack with excess grease. Any slight damage possibly done will be filled by the excess grease and the rubbery nature of the seal.

Front wheel lift/rear wheel lift competition/practice using puddles, leaves as targets. Moving around the bike who can get furthest back/forward, off the side of the bike etc.

Many moons ago when out on my mountain bike I saw a coke can, I thought I’ll see how accurate my front wheel lift could be. Landed the front wheel dead on the can, brilliant. Then the dawning realisation that the can had grabbed the front wheel and seconds later I went otb doh!!!!!!

In this case you may be right, but the camera had the same problems on Julie’s walking weekend.

If it was a manual focus then I would agree with you, however it’s an automatic focus.

Sell it on eBay and put the money towards a new camera that focuses.

The one at work is school dinner size, roughly the size of the 34l pot in chewies post. I can give you exact dimensions on Tuesday. I posted pictures of the two at home on my Flickr page.

I’ve two fairly big pots at home 12″ and 14″ diameter 7″ high and I have access to bigger one at work. Don’t know how many to cook for 50 people.

The Gas Saver and Gas saver plus, brilliant bit of Kit. Temperature differential helps. 30 cans turned into less than ten. Just run the can your emptying under a hot tap for 5 minutes.

Bikepawl – you mean you missed the whole point of the question I was answering and the answer I gave.

No I didn’t miss anything, as I said I was just pointing out the discrepancy in your answer.

“And if you take the bare minimum on rides, how do you find it? Have you ever had to walk after a mechanical incident
    – never had to walk out tho did I? thats the point and the answer to the question asked. I forgot the second mech break.

I was just pointing out a discrepancy in your post

Never had a non fixable mechanical although my deraillier bike I did once break a mech and have to SS it

You’ve broken two mechs when you’ve been out with me, one out by Balerno and one at Comrie croft and then there was the time you hadn’t fitted your brake pads properly and lost one of them at Ravelston woods

I have however made decisions in my life that mean this works for me. turning down jobs that were too far from my house to cycle to

That’s not strictly true though, there was the time when you worked at a nursing home in Tranent and commuted by motorbike. Then you bought a scooter for commuting.

I think this is the guide to caliper sizes
1 – Hopes own standard, designed for the original line of Hope brake adaptors
2 – Rear calliper for frames without disc mounts. Used to use a shortened axle
    3 – International Standard, 51mm spacing. Front 185mm rotor, rear 165mm
4 – Might of been 48mm Marzocchi Standard
    5 – International Standard, 51mm spacing. Front 165mm rotor, rear 145mm
    6 – Boxxer Mount 205mm Rotor
    8 – International Standard, 51mm spacing. 205mm rotor front
9 – Manitou/Post Mount. Early models were 71mm I think, then Manitou changed it around 2000 to the current 74mm standard.

There are only 3 reasons for voting out
    1) xenophobia ( or its nastier cousin racism)
    2) believing the lies of the right wing press about europe
    3) wanting to go back to some mythical 50s that never really existed.

All arguments for leaving the EU can be traced to those 3 things.

barrowing all the hardcore in was such a big job we had to employ child labour.

Ah!!!!! the Adventure Edinburgh trail building sessions, they so were so excited about building a gap jump over the stream on mushroom pie.

It’s gutting that some riders can’t stick to the obvious trail
