Hmm, I've never really found Bill Hicks to be funny.

    People only hate bad advertising.

Did you think advertising was reputable up until now?

    Well, that ruined the thread.

Anyone else? I wouldn't be too bothered if Madonna popped her clogs

You're missing out on one of life's great pleasures. Sometimes the only recourse you have to really show disapproval is a little death wish. Go on, do one now, you'll feel much better.

I un-crossed one hand to type. I hope that doesn't dilute the wish?

Incidentally, I was wishing for Jade Goody to die for years, and it finally paid off. I'd be careful what you say to me 😉

We stayed at Westholme lodges in Aysgarth – with our own private hottub. It was blummin brilliant! There are a couple of great pubs down the road and Hawes is a 10 minute drive.

I used Nokon cables for the barkes on my (now departed) Kona Jake – they totally tansformed it but were an absolute arse to set up.

Can't comment on the gear ones though

Hmm, I seem to have stopped being so lazy and have looked at a ruler. I make the difference about 2-3mm. Should be OK then.

Arsenal have no backbone – for years they've missed a physical centre half or two and a midfield general (anyone else bored of hearing how they miss Viera?).

With a bit of luck Adebayor will miss the derby next week so United can hammer them.

You can kill ten of our men for every one we kill of yours. But even at those odds, you will lose and we will win.

If you want a horror that is so bad it is good try Monster Man.

    So bad it's good:

I was on a 6th Form school trip to Wales at the time. I remember watching the news channel when we got back to the hostel and being dumbstruck – especially seeing the footage of people jumping to their deaths (thankfully this is shown less and less).

Some Asain idiots in our group were high fiving, and telling us all how the USA had brought it on themselves.

Anyone else find The Exorcist really disappointing and not scary?

I love The House on Haunted Hill (I'm a bit of a Vincent Price fan)

The Orphanage is great, as is Devil's Backbone.

Not really horror, but the Silence of The Lambs films are fantastic.

Berlin's great – just get a good guide book and you can't go wrong. Brandenburg Gate area is lovely and Potsdamer Platz/Sony Centre is worth a look around. It's a great city if you're into architecture.

I'm sure I read scandium frames have a limited fatigue life of a couple of years and so are only suited to racing.

It was all going so well.

I was enjoying the gentle goading and mickey-taking, but to let this thread denegrate into mindless pedantry is just not on!

I love the noise it makes when I don't press the handbrake button in. Sounds like going up the first climb on a rollercoaster!

I drive (and have always driven) as though the people around me are idiots – that they may do the most stupid thing and the worst possible time. Occasionally, I'm correct and as I was expecting it, I could do something about it.

As I expect everyone else to be stupid, I find driving to be a calm experience, full of patronising 'tutting' as I notice the fools around me making the mistakes I knew they would make as I glide on in a bubble of condescending smugness.

If I expected everyone else to drive to the letter of the law I imagine it must be a frustrating experience.

What I find more annoying than people hogging the middle lane is…

… people complaining about people hogging the middle lane.

It's rubbish, people do it and they shouldn't. They're very naughty.

But you'll see it every time you drive on a motorway, so it's predictable and not something that should wind you up so much.

It's discourtious and shows that you're probably not a particularly competant or confident driver, but I get much more annoyed with people on phones no matter which lane they're in, and with tailgaters.

Scumbag #1 steals bike stuff, sells it for next to nothing to scumbag #2.

Scumbag #2 has access to ebay and manufacturers website, so sells the stolen stuff @ 'normal' used ebay prices.

So anyone, even a well-meaning STW regular could end up buying it.
