Congratulations. My original advice was to take the money, but seing your comment about dreading going in to work makes me think you've done the right thing. Let us know how it goes.

and that was in the tunnel . . . .

Oooh, you don't want to get kicked in the tunnel. That really hurts.

I've had them on my hardtail for over a year and haven't changed them (although I haven't done much gooey riding over winter). I was thinking of leaving them on for MM to see how it goes, and picking up a pair of mud tyres when I get there if needed.

How about taking the pay rise and promising yourself you'll re-assess where you're up to in, say, 6 months?

I've got a Panasonic one that burns DVDs too. Had it for about 18 months and it's been absolutely flawless so far.

The down side is that it's got one recorder (ie you can only watch the channel that's being recorded) but swap back to the built-in freeview and voila! Watch one channel, record another.

If there was no problem and the woman knew what her customers wanted, why was Mary there in the first place?

I also wonder about how the pre-screening was done. I'm sure loads of shops wanted Mary's expertise and I can't imagine that the shop owners didn't know what they were letting themselves in for.

Try Howls Moving Castle if you liked that, both excellent

As a Man U supporter, I'm sad to see him go.

He was always good for a bizarre decision or two that would cost them a few points

Whilst it's nowhere near a supercar, I drove my sisters new (to her) Lotus Elise on Sunday and now quite fancy one myself. Unfortunately, house, engagement ring and a new sensible car will have to come first.

I don't think I'll ever buy a Ferrari as I can think of much better thing to spend the money on!

    DezB – snap!

Meh – I'll eat it but am not fussed.

Really good under the cheese on your cheese on toast though.

the tomb kennyp mentioned is really macabre, but well worth seeing, google capuchin crypt.

You can buy a ticket for both the Colosseum and the Forum from the Forum ticket office – there's rarely a queue there and you get to miss the mahoosive queue for the Colosseum.

Top tip is don't be afraid to ride the underground – really cheap (2 Euros) and takes you to the most of the places you need to go.

The point was that Insurance is usaully taken out against something you don't want to happen eg your car getting totalled. This was insurance for something the companies did want to happen as they'd profit from it. MM then pointed out that you wouldn't be able to take fire insurance out on your neighbours property, so why this.

Not saying I agree, just saying what he said.

I'm +5, so have Vision Express tinted lenses in a pair of T Wires. Lenses aren't great, frames now look a little dated, but I'm an Oakley whore.

Have you seen the film (it's in the box set) where the actors meet the soldiers they're portraying? I thought that was great, very moving but still lets you see them all as real people with a sense of humour (esp "Wild" Bill Guarnere)

Hmm…did the test and afterwards it just lists loads of jobs under the differing sections. Was hoping it would just pop out Astronaut and off i would go.

A part of me was hoping for Zoo keeper. I'd like to look after Tapirs.

"Start the assessment" at the bottom of the page.

I'm under no illusions that those annoying people who like work so much "it's not like going to work" are few and far between and that for the majority of us, it's a case of MTFU and getting on with it.

I just wish there was a job I wanted to do so much that I could work towards it, but there isn't!

I'm afraid all tattoo posts on here are variations on the theme:

Post Originator: I'm thinking of getting a tattoo, what do you think?

    Reply 1: Positive encouragement

Reply 2: Pic of good tattoo

Reply 3: Pic of bad tattoo

Reply 4: Pic of Spiderman tattoo

Reply 5: Pic of MR COOL ICE tattoo

Reply 6: Discouragement, espousal of negative tattoo stereotypes inc "You'll regret it when you're old and wrinkly"

    Reply 7 onwards: Bickering

The house buying is quite realistic. We have an agreement in principle on a 90% ftb mortgage. I'm going to have a think about what I really want to do and not rush into anything.

Meh, I'm happy being despised! As an industry it has it's upsides – working with genuinely creative and interesting people and the possibility of being well paid in the future. My girlfriend is a primary school teacher and I can't say Im not envious of her job satisfaction, stress levels, security and long term financial predidctability. Unfortunately I don't like kids and don't have much of a nurturing instinct!
