Only 17 teachers have been sacked in the last 10 years.

To me, that tells its own story.

I’m even more upset with the proliferation of “loving”, “liking” etc.

“I’m loving it” (curse you McD)
    “I’m liking it”

Not built them up where I am at the moment, but did have:

The Decibels – very loud with a penchant for the outdoors

    and

The S**ts – a truly horrible family. New money don’t you know.

That’s not an ad exec, it’s a copywriter. And perhaps one that doesn’t ride bikes.

I’m having too much fun playing Skyrim.

How do you go about adding more letters to your shouts though? I’ve been with the greybeards and improved my pushing-people type one but really want my firey shout to be better.

Also, as a bunch of left-leaning Guradian readers, are we all Stormcloaks or has anyone sided with the Empire?

I’m off Thursday and Friday and way weighing up whether to buy this or COD. The video up there has persuaded me to wait til Friday and buy Skyrim.

We stayed in the Movenpick, it’s withing walking distance of Potsdamer Platz but not central.

The open top tour bus is good to get around. There are stops in all the tourist areas – I think we stared just behind the Brandenburg Gate.

I thought they were going to make more of Melody’s ‘market research’:

Asking people on the Metro whether people travel by car or Metro = massively skewed sample?

I think 3D has to come second to a compelling story well told. Retrospectively adding 3D to a rubbish film doesn’t work, but I think it came into it’s own in Avatar as it made the lush, dense environment seem more real, involving and more vast.

A Christmas Carol 3D was frankly rubbish and made my eyes hurt.

I’m looknig forward to 3D gaming though. For that reason I’ll be buying a 3D TV for my new house next month.

My girlfriend is a primary school teacher and works hard – giving a lot of her own time in the evenings, weekends and in holidays.

On balance, given the holidays, working out of hours and marking I’d say that she and I work as hard as each other – she with the difficulty of working with parents, me with the threat of redundancy.

However, the starting salary, annual pay increases, general pay increase through thresholds and pension contribution far outweigh what I get.

I wouldn’t do her job simply because I have no nurturing instinct or patience for kids, not because it’s too difficult or demanding.

I think there are easier and more difficult jobs than teaching, but the “teaching is the hardest job / teaching is a vocation / teaching is poorly paid” lobby is vocal, especially the NUT.

Much of our Funeral tradition is a leftover of the Victorian era, including the euphamisms for death. I much prefer the New Orleans jazz funeral tradition.

Hale is grade A1 celeb spotting territory. In the space of 15 mins I saw Kevin Keegan, Benni McCarthy (footballer) and Lip from Shameless. Kevin Webster from Corrie is too easy to spot as is Jenny Powell.

Wilmslow comes a close second in the Cheshire C-list celeb spotting league.

Seconded – I bought a joystick and everything but just couldn’t do the flying.

Bad Company was quite good – good to see a game that doesn’t mind people playing as snipers.

There’s some properly good analysis here:

    http://www.zonalmarking.net/

    1. Barca, although I’m a Man Utd fan. As long as Carrick is on the field I’ll be fearful.
    2. At girlfriend’s sisters house, trying to block out all the other noise.
    3. Stuff ’em
    4. I’d be surprised if it ends up 11 v 11. Barca should be better than diving but I fear they aren’t.

Seem to have created a monster here.

Leaving it alone all day would be worst case scenario – girlfriend is a teacher and can come home at lunchtimes, as well as mother in law living (a little too) close and has volunteered to check in around her part time work schedule.

Rest assured I’ll think much longer than harder than just a single STW post before committing, and will weigh up what’s best for the dog rather than what’s best for me and my lifestyle…

…or just stuff it and get a cute one at Xmas and give it back when the novelty’s worn off.

    Generally, a “chill out” then!

I’ll busy myself with man things like painting and assembling furniture, and she can put in the phone calls.

43% reduced risk of injury is still good enough for me. You only need to need it once to make it worthwhile.

    Advertising Account Manager.

It varies, from being dull and boring to more stressful than is healthy. Hours are long, gratitude is non-existent, job satisfaction fleeting, politics overbearing and pay is derisory. I don’t enjoy it but don’t know what I do want to do and have just bought a house so can’t easily re-train.

Hand in your notice with a brief meeting with your manager and explain that, whilst you’ll always be grateful for the way you were treated during your wife’s illness and have enjoyed many happy years with them, you feel there comes a time when you have to act in your own best interests. Wish them well for the future and tell them you wouldn’t be upset if you ended up working with them again in the future.

Make sure you don’t convey your being fed up in the interviews. Try to work out quickly if they want you to give the standard answers (“sometimes I work too hard) or if being yourself would actually make you stand out from the crowd.

    Plenty of opportunity to charge…

But what about driving long distance and arranging to be at a place at a certain time? You’re 30 miles short and need to recharge but it’s going to take 3 hours or something. Or driving across Europe which will mean you have to stop overnight when you’d rather just keep going?

    Sweet Mary, mother of Jesus.

I’ve just seen a DeLorean in the Used car shop! I’d give my left testicle for one. I hope the “Mr Fusion” is in the tuning shop.

Anyone know how you get a pickup truck for the pickup race?

You need to complete the IA license – bit of a pain just to complete the Amateur races.

Have given this lots of thought.

My wish would be “to be an expert an anything I turned my hand to”. Means you can learn languages, play guitar, perform brain surgery or anything.

    Pretty cool huh?

Most PS3 owners just play FIFA and Need for Speed, don’t really play online, and will just tell you “PS3 is better cos it’s got Blu-Ray”. Just read the above for proof.

Better controller, generally better exclusive games, far superior online service. As a GAMES CONSOLE, the Xbox is better.

    Utter rubbish.

I saw a couple that were rubbish and hurt my head (Animated Christmas Carol thing last year, Harry Potter) but Avatar blew me away. Rather than being used to make you duck when things fly at you, it was used to give depth and scope to the scenes.

In a nutshell, the Wii is a different sort of beast to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in that it’s something you tend to play with others and most of the games are geared towards this.

There’s not a lot to choose between the PS3 and 360 though, although people will try to persuade you otherwise. You tend to just get on with whichever one you’ve bought.

The stereotypical views are that 360 is better for online play (although I get on with my PS3 fine) and that the PS3 is better as a multi-format hub in your living room (although my guess is that few of them are used in this way). Both are fine machines and will deliver what you’ve asked for in spades.

You pays your money and makes your choice.

    How about a nice:
    chair?
    or a clock?
    A picture frame?
    Suitcase?
    Camera?
Framed section of OS map of somewhere important to you both?
    Sunglasses?

This programme wound me up for years until I realised the whole point was to shout at the screen and laugh at their ineptitude.

WTF is that angry short-haired blonde girl all about and her obsession with “closing the sale” on a pack of sausages?
