    I’m definitely interested.
I had cyanogenmod as the operating system on my old galaxy S4 – far better than the awful ‘touchwiz’ Samsung standard setup.
A top spec phone specifically designed to run cyanogenmod sounds perfect for me.
Getting one might be more of a problem though, they don’t half make you jump through hoops…

    They’re extremely rare, aren’t they?

You might want to ask yourself why…

As I was leaving a clothes retailer the sales assistant said “missing you already!” Not surprisingly, this was in America.

That is true of most transport now though – turn off the computers in your Audi/octavia/insert stw stereotype car of choice and see how far you get…

Further to above, The Typhoon display at Goodwood yesterday was very impressive.
The pilot was a bit hampered by low cloud but still put on one hell of a show.
I’ve never seen a plane turn so tightly at such speed as he was able to. Watching the vortices pour off the wings and still be churning long after the plane has buggered off was amazing. The noise when he properly opened the taps was fantastic (and set off all the car alarms in the car park giving me loads of easy jumps starts later in the day!)
My favourite bit though, was when he “wheelied” the length of the show – low speed, nose up at about 45 degrees, balancing its weight on its engine thrust alone – just astonishing.

I saw this yesterday – it was simply astonishing.
Set off every car alarm in the car park – kept me very busy jump-starting them all later…

As said above, they are franchised. They vary enormously – some are appalling, but others are even worse.
The one in Pompey is one of the better branches, but I still wouldn’t trust them to fit a tyre valve cap, let alone a clutch.
Like most of the chain type garages they seem to prey on people who don’t know any better.

I saw your muddy fox – a classic!
Didn’t see you but hope you had a good day. I got here at six and I’m still here – it’s emptying out now so hopefully I’ll be able to get off soon…

Chain it to the scaffolding by the AA stand in car park A.
Give the short, bald, bored looking AA bloke a wave, I might even wave back!

When I was a lad our labrador ate the Christmas cake.
    In one sitting.
A 10 inch diameter fruit cake, well soaked in brandy, icing, marzipan and plastic santa – all consumed in about 10 minutes.
She was rather subdued and didn’t eat anything else for about 4 days but was otherwise fine. We never did find the plastic santa…

It might be worth trying to get her into an auto at this point.
Clutch control will start to go as she gets older, but if you leave it until they are struggling with the clutch it is too late to start learning how to drive an auto.

The very latest, facelifted model is pretty good, the previous one was a bit of a lemon – looked pretty but awful to drive. They are being heavily discounted to clear at the moment.

Don’t even think of replacing a coil spring without a proper spring compressor. Unless you are very experienced it is not a DIY job – a car spring carries massive energy and is very dangerous.

Our car gets cleaned once a year for free, when it goes for its annual service

Free? You do realise you are paying £100 an hour for someone to wash your car don’t you? It’s all built into the servicing cost.

jam bo » I once offered the keys of the LWB transit with a 15ft trailer on the back to the person who as refusing to back up.

I’ve got out and offered to reverse the car for the other driver in a similar situation, because I assumed they had a problem with that.

I’ve had this problem several time while towing cars down narrow lanes.
I have had to reverse the other car three times now as the driver is unable to reverse it themselves.
On another occasion the other driver managed to reverse into a ditch, so I had to unload the car I was towing, tow them out of the ditch and the load up my car again. Needless to say, it was my fault that they were unable to drive properly…

It’s a breakdown assistance van (the yellow ones), so it has a ton of electrical stuff going on all the time.

Have you got breakdown cover? Call them. They will have the kit to read the fault code properly (not just reset it) and will be able to give you advice on how serious it is and what to do.

However, the only reason I installed that particular program was to make this site useable on a tablet. It got so bad that I stopped visiting completely.
I think the owners need to look very carefully at the advertising on here – more people view websites on mobile devices than p.c.’s now so the site has to be mobile friendly.
It currently isn’t and despite great content you won’t gain readership if potential customers can’t view it because of intrusive advertisements.

It’s a modern turbo diesel, so equipped with DPF, DMF, EGR etc. If it has had, and will get, plenty of good motorway runs then it’ll be fine. As it has only done 2000 km I would check very carefully, modern diesels hate short runs.

This kind of stuff just makes my pish boil as the evidence to the contrary is quite overwhelming:
    – systemic approach to avoid UK tax avoidance (litigation on schemes like ice breaker), as well as pushing a europe wide coordinated effort to catch the likes of amazon and starbucks
    – the rich paying more as a % of total tax than ever before
-marginal tax rates on earnings over £100K at 47% to 62% – both significantly higher than Labour

The “nasty posh” bit just seems to be a re-hash of the disgusting class based / divisive politics Ed Milband has been pushing for years. By all accounts (including OECD) George Osborne has actually done a good job and showed himself to be competent – unless the original poster has actually met him / knows him the “nasty and posh” says more about the mind of the poster than anything else and reflects the increasingly selfist / selfish / society that harms everyone.

I should have been a bit more clear – these are not my views but how he is generally perceived.
Personally I think he has done a pretty good job in very difficult circumstances. He has however made some decisions that have left him open to the criticism that he is “looking after the boys”.
I think a more astute politician would have avoided these.

I think that the biggest problems are the personalities at the top.

David Cameron – elitist, posh and out of touch with the electorate.
Ed Miliband – incompetent, backstabbing and just plain weird.
Nick Clegg – nice enough, but can’t be trusted.

As for the chancellors, they’re even worse.

George Osborne – nasty posh school boy interested only in looking after his rich chums.
Ed Balls – a bully who ****ed up royally last time.

I genuinely think that if Boris Johnson was in charge of the Tories they would walk this election. He is the only politician on either side who has any real charisma.

How about a Mazda 6? The petrol engines are chain cam and bulletproof (don’t touch the 2.0 diesel – chocolate crankshaft).
Big, comfy useful cars with all the toys and very reliable.

Surprising that it took 20 posts before someone came along to remind the op that they shouldn’t enjoy driving in any way shape or form.

It was meant slightly tongue in cheek – I’m hardly one to criticise – I do like to ‘make progress’ myself on occasion.
However, having been to the Isle of Wight many times I have never found any roads where you could fully use the performance of a modern car – even a ‘diesel Skoda’.
I always thought that a 125cc motorbike would be about as fast as you would need – those winding coast roads on the south would be a hoot on one of those I reckon.

    bikemike1968

No offence, but you need a performance remap for driving on the Isle of Wight?!

You’ve got one stretch of dual carriageway on the whole island, it’s about 400yds long and has a 40 limit. The only 60mph roads are punctuated every mile or so by villages – where are you going to be able to use this extra performance?

If going for diesel it needs to be old enough to NOT have a DPF, provided you can meet that criteria smaller journeys will be fine.

Not necessarily. A diesel will have a dualmass flywheel, EGR valve and turbo – all very expensive to fix when they go wrong. They cost more to service as well.
At only 6,000 miles a year you would need to keep it for years for the fuel savings to recoup the initial and extra ongoing costs.
Petrol all the way would be my advice – and I’m not just a keyboard warrior – rescuing broken down cars is my job so I see the kind of thing that is breaking.
