Well he’s been to several camps last year and supplied his own tent, which was adequate, but something a little more robust than a pop up tent is required.
Not sure what the issue is with him supplying his own tent. The troop is relatively small and has limited resources, so why not use his own tent?

It probably more an indication of how much the originals had degraded over time, rather than any significant difference in damping. I don’t know if car shocks need to bed in like bike suspension does though.

The biggest issue with android phones that I’ve come across is that it will demand you initially log in using the previous user’s details and then you can set up your own account on it. I guess its to prevent phone theft. Whether this applies to your purchase or not, I don’t know.

Some of those Vango ones look reasonable.
Anyone got experience of the Alpha 200 / 300 or the Gamma 200 / 300?

Ok the driver in question has built himself up to be a driving god, but other than that, what have they actually said that is that bad?
Was the child injured? I’m assuming that because someone actually came into contact with a moving car that the incident was reported to the police?
I’m assuming the OP works at the school that the child is attending?

Stick it in a bucket of water (or similar) and see where the leak is actually coming from first?

I had a new pair of socks on this morning, so today is a good day to be alive.

Surely procreation is our main basic purpose as a species, to further our DNA? At the most basic level we’re doing the same as all the other species on the planet, only they don’t put some higher meaning behind it like we try to.

Based on the comments it would appear that people from Hereford are actually reasonable human beings. I am impressed.

My other half got one for christmas, it showed she was 100% english, DESPITE having traced her ancestors back to Ireland. She was somewhat disappointed.
I was skeptical before, even more so now.

Im sure 7075 has been used in bonded frames in the past, Raleigh Dyna-Tech springs to mind.

I’d suggest online booking may not really be geared up for this. Call them and speak to a talking meatsack instead?

If it was me I wouldn’t be accepting ANYTHING other than cash for a FB sale. Im assuming its a local group, so message the guy, explaining that you’ll refund his payment and you’d like to meet up with him somewhere public like a Costa and he can pay cash instead.
If he doesn’t want to do that, walk.
As others have said, take photos of any serial numbers and distinctive marks / scrathes etc on it for reference.

Its probably crudded up. Just de-gunk it and it’ll probably be fine. Might be worth checking the hoses too, as they’ll likely be bunged right up.
My car has 2 EGRs. One disconnected to plug the hole (blanking plates not available) and another connected in the engine bay to stop the engine warning light coming one, so the engine THINKS its working fine.

Syncros Cro-Mo cranks must have been bombproof.
Personally I’ve never had issues with any HT11 cranks.

Another top tip. Warm the area with a hairdryer or similar to expand the area the bearing is pressed into before extracting the bearing.
Conversely, pop the new bearings in the freezer for an hour before fitting and warm the frame up again. It should make it a bit easier fitting them.

+1 for Soundmagic. I recently got some of their E11 in ear headphones and I’ve heard things in songs that I’ve never noticed before in 20 years of listening.

I’d avoid using the hammers to removed bearings, theres a greater chance of the bearing coming apart and thus leaving an outer race stuck in the frame needing to be dremmeled out.
I use a combination of threaded bar, washers and sockets.
Remember to always apply the force to the race thats being pressed in.

If its normal riding then just get 175s, if its DH’y type stuff then 170s or 165s for a little bit of extra clearance?

Out of interest, what is the difference between ISO and JIS, is it the angle of the tapers, or just the length of the taper? Or Both?

Sorry for the loss of your mother. Try and keep an eye on your dad and take as much off of him as possible to try and reduce the burden and remove the chance of bad decision making from him. If he’s mentally ok, he’ll bounce back i’m sure, especially if he’s got an infection. PErhaps have him stay with you for a bit if thats possible? Just so he isn’t at home rattling about on his own.

    6’7” and bars are vertical

It must be super hard to ride like that.
I generally keep mine roughly horizontal. I’m only 6’2″ though.

not really, I also run my brake levers nearly parallel to the ground as most my time on the bike is spent hanging off the back on steep trails.

I think that may have gone over your head there…..

Wera hex keys with a special end that helps remove a rounded head, they work great as day to day hex keys as well.

Aren’t they just ball end allen keys? They’re not for removing rounded bolt heads, they just allow you to work at an angle on the bolt.

Pad retaining bolts dont need to be tight at all. And always put a dab of coppaslip on the threads.

TBH if theres a trail I’ll ride it. Rarely have issues riding throughout the year. I think the ethos “don’t be a dick” will see you right.
What time of year are you thinking of doing it? Late spring, late summer are possibly better, but May to September should see the route pretty fast and dry. There isn’t too much mud, although East of Yarmouth (Bouldnor) or the offroad bit from Porchfield to Thorness can be a bit crappy.
The bit from East Cowes to Wootton (Kite hill) is on the road, there are no ROW in that segment really.
If you have more questions, let me know.

Every time I go into our nearest branch I encounter a man wearing shorts sporting very red and sore looking legs and stinking of piss (he, not I). He doesn’t appear to like being overtaken by other trollies either, as there was a coming together as I attempted to speed past him so I wasn’t in his pissy wake. Urgh.

I live on the IOW. I followed the coastal footpath pretty much the whole route. The only bit I missed out was Seaview to St Helens because its mostly unrideable and really slows you down.
I did it one September and left about 9am, got home about 8pm having run out of light near Wootton.
I did it clockwise, but it depends where you start. I live in Ryde, so got the hilly bits done towards the first third of the ride.
The bit between Chale and Compton is particularly boring, but its over soon enough as long as you arent heading into the wind.
You’ll need to head inland a bit from Shalfleet to the East side of Porchfield as there aren’t any ROWs around there, so probably best to road that bit.
There aren’t many shops nearby in the Ventnor to Freshwater section, so make sure you have plenty of water when you leave Ventnor, Yarmouth to Gurnard is similar.
I think the total mileage for the day was around 73.
