Snowing steadily here in the coast (Gosport / Ryde), VERY unusual this low down on the coast. Only about 2″ (but it IS cold!)
Slick tyres pumped up on fresh snow are great for practicing your driftage!!
Yes i admit it just started out with the odd tyre or two, now im on a set of brakes a month and a rear shock every 3 months.
Seriously i have been on a bit of a bender in the last year, but im pretty much there now, almost….
Bleeding the newer type of shimano discs (yes XT M775 im talking to you), seems to take several attempts, then a ride and a re-bleed before they are settled.
Oh and front mechs are a PITA, although i managed to set up my last one in 2 minutes *smug*
I suppose a bearing pressed in at an angle could over stress the alu causing it to fatigue crack in time. The rust is prob from the ratchet ring in the hub, perhaps excessive corrosion has caused the ring to expand (by rusting) against the hub shell and splitting it?
Its a ranger FFS! Whats the problem? Clearly he put the rifle away as soon as he saw you.
I have no issue with people who clearly know how to behave, i’d have been concerned if it was a member of the great unwashed.
Some riders clearly have no idea what using cantis was like.
FWIW Vs in the dry are pretty close to a disc setup, but in the wet expect a few heartstopping moments waiting for them to bite.
Try having the the adjusters set to nearest the lever pivot, it wont pull as much cable (so you need to move the lever more to get the same amount of brake movement), but you should have a bit more braking power as a result of the increased leverage.
If you liked the K850, consider the SE C905 got Wifi and a rather handy 8Mp camera. Oh and GPS etc etc and its not made by Apple! Although the Iphone is rather good.
Had mine for a couple of months now. S’all good.
You’ll need an adaptor and erm you’ll need to get ones which are +25mm F+R, hope might do them…..
I managed to file the bolt holes on my “180mm” adpator enough to fit a 185mm disc, there was plenty of metal on the adaptor tho (it was an A2Z one if it helps)
Erm, my ’08 Floats are post mount (same lowers as Vanillas)
What calipers do you have on there?
If the caliper has the bolt screwing in to it, its an IS caliper, if the bolts screw in to the post on the fork leg is PM (post mount).
For GT to say they wouldnt replace your original frame again is rubbish. Each one of your frames has failed due to a manuf defect, not misuse, therefore they should replace it AGAIN. With that many probs i really wouldn’t have considered another GT given your bad experiences. BUT they are still liable for any frame issues under warranty.
You dont say if mountain bikes have the landowners permission to be on the land in the first place? If not im afraid you’re screwed as you shouldnt be there yourselves!
Most horseriders IME are fine as long as you dont career round a bend into them, however you will ALWAYS get a minority in ANY sport (ours included) who think they are right and you are wrong.
If i can be bothered i’ll have a bit of verbal sparring with them and then a good old laugh at them. Usually winds them up further. Whatever i do or say its not going to change their opinion so i might as well have some fun! Although i might try comepletely agreing with them, that REALLY confuses them.
Might have to kick the horse if i feel threatened next time.
