Except it’s not stupid at all. Do you have a dipstick on your fuel tank?

Whilst I kind of get where you’re coming from, running out of fuel is not really comparable to running out of oil…….

I really enjoyed it, although I kept forgetting to breathe at times, because it was awesome!

BMW SUVs seem to be regularly piloted by the blatantly self unaware. I was turning right at a set of lights on the bike and the driver of an X3 or somesuch decides they wish to overtake me as I’m halfway through the turn and then failed when they realised there was a traffic island where they were aiming for. Being told “learn to give way you stupid *****” didn’t seem to sit too well with them for some reason.

Its mildly entertaining, but its also bindun before. Theres too much glossing over stuff and overly contrived stuff going on. I want “believe” the presenters fully (although Chris Harris is pretty convincing).
I do wonder if this series is just running the meter to the final “phut” and then the lights go out?

If the OP is talking about an electric moped type thing, not a micro scooter, then no I don’t think the OP was wrong. If it was a petrol powered one, there would be no issue, its not permitted. End of. Legally the moped is still a moped and the method propulsion is irrelevant in this respect.
Just because someone is taking their kid on it, means nothing. If they drove their car through there because they were going to school, would that be alright?
I do understand the OPs feeling conflicted though.

I took me a long time to realise that credit catches up with you eventually.
Other than a 93k mortgage, and a small credit a agreement for an £800 camera, I owe nothing to anyone else. I’d like to keep it that way.
Buying a new car is a mugs game, leasing a brand new car is also a mugs game.
If you must, get a loan and get a 5yo used car for 5k. Much more affordable and wont depreciate like a rock (its already done that).

Given the OP has stated that his dogs weren’t even at home when the barking was happening, I don’t understand why people are getting on their case?
If the OP has any doubts, why not speak to your other neighbours first and just ask them straight if they’ve heard their dogs barking. If the answer is a no, then go round and have a polite chat with the complaining neighbours and explain that its unlikely to be your dogs if they’ve been out with you all day and the noise must be from someone else’s dogs.

For the person saying we’re a cynical lot, could he afford to lose £3.5k if the money was fake? I’d say it wasn’t cynical, just protecting yourself from potential fraud.

Update to say Mr account reinstatement received the original lens and the 2nd one I sold him. Its gone bloody daft, no interest for a week then suddenly 4 out of 6 items on sale went within 2 days!

E-bay have confirmed that his account has been reinstated, so I think I can relax now.
I’ve bought plenty on e-bay, but only sold 1 item previously. Given the number of scare stories and potential scams mentioned on here, I’m probably a little over-sensitive to dubiousness.
I wasn’t 100% sure if they could somehow claw back the funds from my PP account, with their bid being cancelled etc.

    Reply from the buyer

The problem was associated around syncing my google account to e bay. I phoned e bay and they have re assured me the fault lies in thier system. Hence why they set up my account again. Must admit was taken aback when i got the yellow card. Hopefully this does not happen again. Just to confirm that everthing is ok..and you are good to go with the bid..i will pay asap. Thanks.

That sounds feasible to me. Anyone have a view on this?
The language cerntainly doesn’t sound scammy or pigeon english.

    This get weirder.
The same account has put an offer in for another lens that I’m selling. Same username, same join date. Obviously I’m a little wary, so I’ve messaged him explaining my concerns and I’ll see what he says.
I wonder if he deactivated his account by mistake and then re-activated again? I’m now wondering because of his age, whether he’s not very e-bay / computer literate?

Hmm, e-bay have sent me this message just before 17:00
“We had to cancel bids for the buyer, because they aren’t registered on eBay:”
I’ve been paid via PayPal (although e-bay / paypal are holding my money until next monday because I have only sold 1 item previously).
I’ve looked and the guy is no longer registered on e-bay. Now what? I’ve already posted the lens.
Can I now expect the £48.00 to disappear from my PayPal account shortly? I’ve asked e-bay what happens now?

Actually I’ve found the guy’s linkedin profile and it says where he works, which is also the the delivery address for the item. He’s in his late 50s, so I think (hope!) he’s legit.

Possibly its too early to worry about whether I’m going to be scammed or not….

Not had anything other than potential scammers show any interest. Humph!
May need to review my pricing down a bit possibly. I’ll let them all run for a week and then see.

Personally I’d just keep using it until you have skipping issues. It might not play nicely with a new chain though!

sarawak, I doubt anyone would be daft enough to make me a mod, I don’t even know what TP is!

My god, Gumtree seems to be a total cesspit of scammers!
I’ve had another one this morning text me to say could I e-mail them to discuss further, which i did. Turns out they want the camera for their son and that they are deal and disabled, so can’t collect, but will send a courier and they want to pay by PayPal. Bye bye!

Being on the Island can be a pain sometimes (this being one of them), but it has its compensations!

The whatsapp guy is now asking to pay by paypal. I’ve asked him how he will be getting the camera once he’s paid me…..
There is no way I’d be paying for a second hand camera upfront without seeing it first.

I wish i could do a normally local pick up and face to face deal but presently that is why i am offering to Pay you via PayPal. I have been using PayPal to buy and sell for years now and i have never for once had any problems whatsoever.
I’ve replied again saying payment by cash only and I don’t need the hassle of posting something.

I’ve now got someone else whatsapping me asking if I’ve still got the camera, I reply yes and then I get a message asking for the price and the location. This one reeks too!

Excellent, I was right to be wary. I’ll just tell him I don’t want to post it and I only want cash payment. If he really wants it, he can come and get it.

Hmm, my first use of Gumtree and within 2 hours of placing the ad I’ve had 3 replies asking if it is still available. This can only bode well for the sale of my camera. Or not.

By way of a little update, Palmers lodge wasn’t too bad. Although there did seem to be a late night rustling convention most evenings. On the second night there was quite loud dance music playing the reception bar area until around 11pm, which was a tad annoying.
The bed was clean and comfortable, but the only moan really was the locker. It takes the form of an underbed roll out drawer with a hasp for a padlock, there was only just enough room for the stuff I wanted to leave there during the day, but I managed.
For £12.50 a night, I’m not gonna complain too much.

I had a boss like that once, we’d both applied for the role of team leader, she got the position. I never undermined her even though I was still in the same team, we worked well together. Until I went over her head to the MD after she pulled the plug on previously agreed holiday arrangements for the birth of my son (rather than paternity leave, as they only paid the statutory amount) at less than a weeks notice. After that she was highly critical of me, tried to give me a disciplinary (which she had to take back because it was one to one, HA!) and generally critical of my attitude (possibly because I no longer cared).
    The solution? Leave.

Was there ever any grease in that pedal? I’ve never had an SPD pedal with rust on any on the internal parts because they’re usually covered in grease inside.
When did you last put some fresh grease in there? Never?

Either I’m too tired or something isn’t making sense.

Was there any welding work done as part of the repair? If the battery hasn’t been disconnected before welding then stuff could have been fried?

Oddly I asked the same question to my other half last week. I half expected to hear that he was burned out mentally, sadly I wasn’t wrong.
Reminds me of a very good friend who struggled for years on the dole in Edinburgh, despite having a degree. Finally got a good job in London working for Reuters. Lived it large for a couple of years and then basically had a breakdown and retreated back to his home in Edinburgh and that was it. That was over 20 years ago. We still meet up a couple of times a year in London for some beers.
I think I’m one of the few people that kept in contact with him, because he was hard work after the breakdown. He has issues with paranoia at times and can be a bit nasty personally, but I’m not going to be the one that cuts him loose.
We had a period where we were out of contact for about 5 years, but we sorted that out and we’re in regular contact. Meeting him in a couple of weeks in fact.
