Don’t get too stressed about the wrist it will heal, as long as you except it might not feel perfect but you can still do everything with it you will he fine. keep up with the physio and start moving it at soon as possible, I shattered my hand and wrist 25 years ago in my early 20’s and have had arthritis and tendon issues ever since, but it hasn’t stopped me having fun on a bike, to be honest I think riding helps keep it mobile. Speedy recovery.

Sounds like what you want is the lakes but closer to home. Think it’s time you think about moving, you just won’t find big days with fast rocky & technical descents like you do in the lakes and Scotland, but big xc days definitely.

If you want excitement rather than big long xc dales rides then you haven’t looked hard enough, there are a ton of places with some great steep fun technical trails to ride. Keep looking you will find them.

I have run a non boost 2×10 xtr crank as a 1×12 for that last few years with no issues, chainline is fine and wear is no different to my other setup with a boost crank 1×12. Personally ( and I’m no expert) as long as it fits go for it, the rest is all a load of marketing bull.

Damn, to save the planet, I was going to set up an ebike riding human eradication domesday cult – looks like that idea has been ruined, these battery things are just not green enough. A walking around in wool pants death cult looks like the only truly green option available. Better get rid of my mobile phone, watch, tv remote etc etc as well. Down with these pesky humans.

Definitely worth finding one, as above try mantel , they delivered very quickly. I Have the SM pro on one bike and an SME3 on the other, until I bought the SM the SME3 was the most comfortable saddle I had used but the SM beats it hands down for comfort, no numb knob any longer.

OP no but it’s a heart purchase more than a head one. 4 1/2 years on my sb6. 2 SI links and a new frame but all faults were on the original 2015 frame. The replacement 2017 frame has been faultless to date. No issues with Silverfish, longest I waited was around 10 days. Would I buy another one, maybe. They ride really good, The SI platform is great for climbing big bikes, and heading downhill so maybe, but, with the new breed of yeti bikes the SI unit is semi covered by the frame which will make cleaning a bit of a chew on in our UK muck, unless you just say sod it and blast it with a jet wash, which I’m not a massive fan of, and the price has gone up a load, I paid 2.6 grand for my frame in early 2015 which felt like a lot back then so £3700 for a frame now seems like a bit of a push. That said I would love to ride the sb165 I bet it is a bit of an animal and all their new bikes are lifetime warranty.

I feel slightly uncomfortable when 2 people accidentally turn up for a group ride in matching helmets, so the notion of all turning up wearing the same clothes on purpose to show we are all bezzy mates or a bit pro couldn’t be any more cringe making.

I can’t see what the issues with e-MTBs are, I don’t have one but they seem great fun and for banging trails must be a great tool for the job. Not so sure about some of the smug **** looks you get when you are blowing out your arse on a climb and some bloke who clearly has been enjoying the jelly babies too much, comes past you on one as if you are the unfit sod.

Road racing ebikes, now they seem completely pointless, I thought the whole point of road cycling was to see how much pain and suffering you can exert on your own body, surely a motor can only exponentially reduce that sadomasochist enjoyment.

    @oikeith
I’m not sure why you dislike people on Yeti’s , is it cos they are having more fun and money than you? jealous of them spending 10k on a bike ?

@whitestone I’m not I saying this guide was without fault and as said in hindsight I’m sure even he might reflect that he could had gone a tad slower, but we are human and as so not always perfect, it’s a very low level incident and he did stop without any contact. I think as mountain bikers with the exception of some gravity events / specific DH trails the perceived speed and real speed are often miles apart, I bet he was doing no more than 12-15 mph.

As for reinforcing negative perception of mountain bikers in all the years I had ridden on bridleways, footpaths, shared trails, I have never come into conflict with any other trail user and I don’t think this guide did, apologises were said and everything moved on, hey I’m not saying conflict doesn’t occur but I believe it is far more infrequent than is often perceived and just like this minor infringement blown out of all proportion in internet echo chambers like this. People need a sense of perspective that’s all.

7 pages on an incident that never happened. The guide most likely had ridden that trail several times before and never came across a soul. unfortunately on this occasion he did on one of the only blind bends, could he have ridden round it slower, with hindsight most definitely, but he did still stop in time and I’m sure if he rides this trail in future he will ride it with more caution, lessons learned and all that. No one was hurt the walkers didn’t seem that offended, the only people that seem offended are the self righteous, overly opinionated bunch on here that are clearly out damage probably what is a very good guides reputation and business because of there overly anal standpoint. I always thought mountain bikers were a pretty relaxed bunch but clearly they have been infiltrated by the hybrid love children of the ramblers association and local curtain twitching neighbourhood watch brigade. – well on here at least.

What jekkyl said but part way down sticks pass turn off and go down seldom seen.

For a 3/4 double up keppel cove to the summit, down birkside then road along to grassmere then take the path / bridle way back to grisedale tarn, then descend back to glenridding. 2 cracking descents and only about 4500ft of climbing / hike a bike.

3 or 4 rides into my 210 v2 and it’s doing what it’s supposed to. No issues with tight collars or any noticeable play. Might let a bit of air out as it’s super fast and the position of the lever on the bars is different to the reverb which was more tucked underneath. All in all a pretty solid bit of kit and great to have such a big drop.

Second DT Swiss Ex511 rims on any good hub that takes your fancy, I have had them on i9 straight pull hubs for 2 years and they have been faultless, 103kg and not averse to riding rock and root and casing crap jumps.

@iainc Thanks for the pointer I looked at it the other week and was a bit put off, those numbers are a bit more promising. Might be back on the possible list.

Current geo on their website looks a bit weird 470 chainstays and 440 reach in their largest size which is a large, and only just over 400 in a small. maybe the long chainstays are an ebike thing.

Just fitted my 210 . Very solid feel to it but not too heavy, not weighed it but feels similar to the 170mm reverb it replaces. Very easy to install, most time was spent faffing on with getting the cable through the ridiculously tight internal routing on the bike, rest took about 15 minutes. If you are 6ft 5 plus or exceptionally long legged then this post is great, first time I can get my post slammed, well almost.

Be prepared to get ranted at by very angry Austrians if you start riding footpaths. It’s a real shame as you walk trails that make you itch to ride them on a bike. The big 5 as above are the closest to a good days trail riding, the rest is very park.

Italy are much more relaxed about where you can ride, but I’ve not ridden this area.

Just to add another conspiracy theory, but has anyone else noticed that ever since everything has gone quiet on Sicks IG account, strangely everything has also gone quiet on here and PB, maybe it was always them fuelling the conversation on both these forums all along, in some weird reverse psychology bike selling technique that tragically backfired, or maybe everyone just got bored and went an rode their bikes.

Just seems a bit ironic that people are having a pop at bird cycles then saying it’s “outsiders” not behaving responsibly when a local EWS rider post up exactly the same thing months before and no one says a word. Is inners becoming inners vasey, local trails for local people. We want no trouble here, eh tups.

150 frames they say, would that be the 35 frames unpaid for in Peru. At least we now know their bullshit factor is 4.3

Had mine a couple of weeks now, on an xl. Was slightly dubious how the long low slack geo would feel, but honestly wow, what a great frame. Currently running 130mm pikes from my old HT frame, but I’ll extend it to 140mm. The bike descends really well, and the combination of head angle and big wheels just roll over everything, very stable in corners. Climbing is very good seated but I have found it harder for long climbs out the saddle, short sprints are fine. I’ll also probably reduce the crank lengths to 170mm or ever 165mm, with the low bb and long wheelbase I do find I run out of clearance on technically climbs and pedal strike has gone up but only in this aspect of use . Finally I also find the rear end a lot less harsh than my old bike, not flexy just more absorbing of bumps, which is a bonus.

I think the simple answer is no, over on the other forum there seem to be several customers waiting, one guy did get a response from sick as recently as yesterday, so sick are still on planet Earth and not living with Hitler on Mars but it was the same old excuse and delay tactics. So no change. The soap opera continues.

@joecantello are you still in touch with the owner of Sick, there still seem to be plenty of customers that haven’t had frames yet, would be good to hear a genuine response about what they have to say about when or if people will get their goods delivered, instead of the generic email sob story, lost in the post, in transit, stuck in a warehouse, issues with some magical frame builder, dog ate them excuse from them.

I sort of know where you are coming from, my old 800 drives me nuts, Garmin connect on the pc is clunky. Garmin express sometimes updates Strava, sometimes decides not to, and the 800 often changes some of the display information to sometimes completely random like average temperature if not used regularly. That said I have a Fenix 5x that connects to my phone and it is faultless, and the Garmin app on the phone does exactly what it says on the tin.

Other than track were you know you have a set time I can’t think of anything else in cycling that would compare, I can’t see a tour rider or xc rider sustain hr max for 14 minutes as they know they can’t blow up when they get to the top unless it’s a final climb before a finish. Rowing seems pretty unique for creating a world of hurt.

@blackflag maybe he is one of the emtber’s that I saw at a race in the tweed valley last year, we were grinding up a climb and they came past everyone smoking tabs and drinking cans of tenants, that was ******* awesome!

I’m a farmer and mountain bikers that rides cheeky trails so I see both sides of the argument. Most farmers probably don’t give a monkeys about a mountain biker riding along a footpath as long as it doesn’t affect their livelihood or where they live. It’s a civil offence so most couldn’t be bothered/don’t have the time/ don’t have the money to pursue it. So if the footpath goes through the middle of the farmstead and you ride through then they might get a little annoyed just because it’s their private space, but if the path is over the back of that field, or across that moor, what’s the problem and most probably don’t care. Where farmers get really hacked is when it starts damaging his livelihood. Leaving gates open or riding that cheeky trail where people divert off the path because of a wet spot and ride all over a crop, which technically aren’t trespass but criminal damage. The other thing a farmer worries about is opening up further access, often MX bikes see tracks and follow them, or smart arse “I have rights, you know” types trying to establish permanent rights of way. The current law is stupid and access needs to be increased especially to bicycles as they do very little long term damage and do not chew up trails like horses. As others have mentioned it’s about having consideration, if we are considerate to the farmer or owner, his livelihood and property, don’t leave gates open, chase livestock down, or trash fences, most won’t mind, infact I bet deep down they are probably a little jealous that you are enjoying yourself, as they work on. There are of course cocks that will say get off my land for no reason, there are also cocks that thing it’s fine to leave a livestock gate open, works both ways.

Mickmcd it depends on their disclaimer, if it says only intended for the recipient and not to be shared etc or words to that effect then no not really, however if someone has good reason to act as a whistle blower as they believe the other is acting illegitimately then I don’t think they they would have any issue in a court. The fact that the Suck bicycle co customer service person said “ignoring the legality of a refund “ means they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. I also very much doubt they could find the 20-30k to put a libel case together.

Not suprised by the lack of interest in EWS on STW forum, if it’s not 130mm travel or below or has drop bars, most aren’t interested. Once again Martin Maes seems to be the man. Other than the 29/27 combo the rest of his bike looks pretty stock, which it great for us mere mortals to relate to . The guy is some talent.

I think they are mint, only ever ridden an ohlins coil so can’t compare with any other coil shocks. Loads of traction, smooth, and can be set up how you want it. I occasionally drop the air shock back on but after a ride it’s straight back to the coil, air always feels rubbish in comparison.

This has to be one of the greatest threads ever. The plot gets thicker quicker than an episode of midsomer murder. How will it end ?

Will Sick bikes come good and frames get hand delivered to long waiting customers to the sound track of Carly Simon let the rivers flow, whilst pulling rad hand jesters and sticking their tongues out.

Or to the music of the Alan Parsons Project, you’re gonna get your fingers burnt. will we wake up one morning to find sick bikes, their website and social media gone, with the founders blaming unrelenting and negative social media pressure, whilst 2 weeks later we see them on IG living it up in some exotic mountain biking. location.

    Only time will tell.

I’m no expert, but I’ve found that rebound can get slowed down to much, slow rebound doesn’t let the fork get back in contact with the ground and so you lose traction. Try dropping your air pressure back to the right sag rate and adding a few more clicks of rebound.
