Thank you both. I have had a read of the links and done a bit of testing. I’m not sure the left power meter is working correctly. It wouldn’t show up on Zwift until I put a new battery in then it blinks green and pops up on Zwift. Then after a few seconds the blinking stops and it disconnects from Zwift. I’m not convinced this is causing the erg problems though as I have found a paragraph on the stages support page stating it may take 30 seconds for erg to stabilise during an interval. What use is that? I would never of bought the thing if I had seen that. Their support seems pretty bad too. I messaged about the handlebars rocking from side to side and have heard nothing yet. Again it seems a common problem that a reply takes literally months.

Why would you buy iPad for a kid anyway? Same functions a as a cheap android tab or less or equal to and expensive android tab

Why do you feel the need to comment like this? Just comes across as bitter. I think some people on here forget that not everyone is poor and need to save money by buying cheap stuff.

I just went and turned my neo 2 by hand and it’s perfectly smooth. No stuttering at all

None of mine do that and I have 2 and often use a 3rd. You can get a bit of slip at high power in the wrong gear but I have to try and do it rather than it happening during a workout or free ride on zwift. If it’s that your experiencing then try using a different gear. Do a YouTube search for gplama neo. I’m sure he covered it in one of his videos.

I would look at the 645 unless you need the triathlon ability of the 735
The 735xt is old now and lacks a lot of the features of the newer ones.
The 635 is on offer everywhere at the moment making it not much more than the 245.

    I have a neo 1 and a neo 2. What’s occurring?

I don’t read or watch any news. I live in my own ignorant little bubble and I’m very happy.
I can’t stand politics and generally close a thread down on here if it turns political. I read some threads on here and genuinely feel sorry for some folk who can’t reply to any subject without mentioning politics. It’s served me well so far in life.

Definitely a crawler as the only limit to the obstacles you can find is your imagination. Not the ftx outback you linked above though. It’s too fast for a crawler and has no torque. Look at the ftx ibex instead. It’s a much better crawler

We tested vertical and horizontal. Vertical was substantially worse on every board. The fire climbed the board like you would expect.

My company has been doing some testing on cladding for a product we are trying to make fire resistant. I ordered around 60 Fire rated cladding samples from various companies Around the world. We have our own small furnace and tested every sample of cladding. Every one failed way before the claimed fire resistance time. Our test is different to the official test but I think it’s a more realistic real world test. Some perform better than others and some fail spectacularly. I think I could get the product through the official test with a fire resistant acm board but I feel the test is very different to reality and i wouldn’t be happy selling a product I had no confidence in even if I did have a test certificate telling me it’s safe.
In the end we switched to a different produce that actually is fire proof.
Incidentally we also found fire resistant plywood takes slightly longer to burn than normal plywood but when it does go it’s a lot more violent and toxic.
In short it has made me question how relevant laboratory tests are compared with real world.

All my bikes have almost everything that can be purple anodised. Pretty sad And boring if you feel the need to stick to black. It’s a bike. It’s meant to be fun.
My lbs don’t stock much they just order it as required. They do multiple orders per week so it’s rarely more than a day or two before the parts come in.

I’m finding it really good. I’m getting a lot longer chain life than with squirt. My latest chain is on 6501 miles with smoove and still isn’t anywhere near 0.75 stretch. The previous one (Same chain, bike and conditions) lasted 2369 miles with squirt.
Smoove is definitely quieter than squirt too and never seems to suffer the grinding noise in the wet. It also lasts better on longer rides. I do a lot of 100+ mile rides and some times go 2 or 3 rides between re lube. Squirt I used to do every ride and never felt it lasted more than about 60 miles. Less if wet.
Squirt was probably cleaner though. Smoove gums up even when used little and often. It’s a worth while trade though.

You really must be a dumbass if you can’t work out the programming on an exposure light. So simple and once set you don’t have to touch it again. Not felt a need for the sync though.

I’m convinced that the giant tcr is the best road bike available and by far the best I have ever owned/ridden. I have 3 including the latest with di2 dura ace, carbon wheels and discs. There honestly is nothing I would improve or change which I have never been able to say about any other off the shelf bike. Some say they are not boutique enough but I would take the ride/handling/quality over boutiqueness. The ride is just perfect.
I did want a canyon aeroad purely on looks but no way I’m buying without a proper test/fitting.
I can’t understand why anyone would not go for discs these days. Rim brakes are truely awful especially with carbon wheels.

I commuted about by bike 15-20 mins each way every day for about 15 years. It was awful. I resented riding a bike. I wasn’t warm by the time I got to work and I had constantly tired legs. One of the Best things I did was stopping. It allowed me to concentrate on proper training with proper rest.

Not sure pedalling or handling vast swathes of boredom are really skills tbh.

If your bored on zwift or the turbo in general then you’re not doing it right /trying hard enough.
Don’t judge everyone on your own week mental fortitude.

It’s laughable all these people saying there is no skill in zwift racing. Have you actually tried it? It requires pretty much all the same skills as real riding (except bike handling) and also some not required like timing the use power ups for maximum benefit.

I was looking at those air movers earlier. I’m going to order one as it looks like it could be a good addition.
I wanted and tried a wahoo headwind and didn’t think much of it. No more powerful than my one standalone fan. A bit more focused but it didn’t really help.
I have tried the fans in the suck blow configuration mentioned above. It wasn’t as effective as having the fan blowing the cold air in from outside.
I’m going to borrow a portable air conditioner from a friend and give that a try. I might get a few more fans as well. Mount some above me pointing downwards.

Outside training in winter just isn’t specific enough. I have tried intervals in the dark and rain and i just don’t get the same training effect. My fitness declines and not just specific to winter i find it pretty dangerous doing proper sick inducing intervals on the road.
My current fans are 2x honeywell turbos and one big industrial jobbie from clarke or screwfix i think. I have tried different locations with the fans but the best is the big one on the floor in front. a honeywell at face level and the other honeywell in the open door behind blowing at my back.

Sounds like you need to accept that your ftp has never been as high as you thought it was. Except willy waving it’s irrelevant anyway as long as you are Testing / training on the same calibrated trainer. Consistency is what you need not the ultimate number. A quick google tells you the qubo trainers are known give flatteringly high power figures.

Sounds like you will actually use it so I would advise going direct drive. Avoid wheel on at all costs. If you can’t afford it now then save a bit longer. Don’t whatever you do buy the £200 Halfords tacx smart trainer. It’s awful and makes turboing a chore.

The neo is fully smart without power you just lose the downhill drive. I take mine to races and camping and use it with my phone or iPad.

Take it back and but a tacx neo. It doesn’t need external power.
But then you will still need power for fans.

I haven’t been able to find much either.
I have been to every one (except the first) and unfortunately for me the appeal has worn off. I cba to go this year as if you have seen it once then it then you have seen it all. The jumps have evolved but its nothing like the shock of seeing it for the first time.
I definitely recommend it if you haven’t been though.

I would go for an Isla almost solely on resale value. They cost next to nothing if you buy/sell smart. They are definitely not without their issues but they sell like hot cakes second hand. There are plenty of really nice other bikes out there but they will cost you far more eventually as they will be worthless second hand. I would also advise staying away from the early rider belter mentioned above. They look amazing and are really high quality but they are heavy, the rear wheel is draggy and the spacing on the bottom bracket and rear wheel/ chain stays is far too wide for kids little legs. I bought my lad an Isla for off-road and a belter for on-road and he didn’t like the belter. Said it was too slow. I ended up giving it my brothers kid who also prefers his Isla.
Edit: also the brakes on the belter were rubbish. I think they were the same as the Isla but they barely worked. I could only put it down to the painted braking surface.

I was also never stupid enough to sign up for ppi. But apparently it was put on a loan I had back in 2003 without me knowing. I have only ever had that one loan from hsbc and it was for £1500 to buy a car.
I complained via a form on which a few weeks ago just on the off chance and a few days ago hsbc put nearly £2500 in my account followed by a letter of explanation as compensation or whatever they call it.

In my experience of using strava since it first began is that the people who can’t get Kom’s are the only ones to moan about Kom’s. Within my circle of riding friends that race anything from road, cx, tt, triathlon, xc, enduro and dh we are constantly trying to take each other’s kom’s. We actively go out on rides that use multiple segments as intervals and congratulate/commiserate accordingly. Then wait for the email saying you have lost it because they have gone out to get it back. Most of our local leaderboards usually have the same top 10 in varying orders depending on gradient/length.
It’s not taken seriously and is great for making hard training more fun.
If someone doesn’t like it then there are plenty of other trackers without the social side.

I have them on a tcx. They work well but are very wooden feeling. I would probably avoid buying anything with them on again but don’t dislike them enough to bother changing to full hydraulic on the tcx.

Have a look on youtube for the GCN video where one of the presenters uses it to paint an old trek.
From what I could make out it looked ok from a distance but in the closeup shots it looked pretty rubbish. Very dull and orange peeley / mottled. This could be down to his abilities more than the paint though.
I would be interested to try it but it sounds too good to be true.

Just go for whatever colour you fancy. Don’t worry about what some idiots on the internet think. It’s a bike and bikes are meant to be fun. Some people on here take themselves far too seriously.

I used one but in the opposite direction. I built it into the loft so it came through the ceiling. I build a framework and cut and reinforced the surrounding ceiling joists. We have full length sliding wardrobes with nowhere to mount a big enough tv. The lift kit was fairly hefty to support a 55″ tv and i had to get a specific one that worked in both directions. On the ceiling side i made a thin angle profile for both the ceiling cutout and the panel on the bottom of the tv framework so when the tv is hidden away all you see is a really thin gap. It works by remote control and has been no problem since i fitted it.

I used to suffer really bad cramp until I discovered electrolyte tablets. I used to get it when riding to the point of having to stop riding until it stopped. I used to get it resting after a ride and I used to wake up in the night in agony. One tablet in a drink bottle is enough to stop it completely.
Last year in the alps I did a day without any tablets and I was cramping throughout the day. I had to stop on climbs until it subsided but most of the time I just carried on in pain trying to stretch as I rode. Day 2 I bought some electrolyte tablets from a bike shop and never had any cramp for the rest of the holiday.
I have suffered with it since childhood. I would feel bruised for days after it. As above though I don’t get anything anymore as long as I have an electrolyte drink.
Someone will be along shortly to say there is no evidence of them working but they work for me and regardless I’ll keep taking them
