If you guys are thinking of entering then be quick as its live on XC Racer now!!

Solo & Pairs always sell out although they have increased the number of places slightly this year :P

Yep done the last 2 years & its great fun, a real riders course with a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

Loads of singletrack (I’d say about 65-70% of the lap) most of it descending but there is a surprising amount of climbing for an 8-9 mile lap.

Just got my entry in for the 12 hour solo. :P

Both solo & pairs catagories sell out really quickly so don’t delay if your intending on doing it

I think its option 2 with the added bit about expecting you to be psychic 8O

I often throw in to the mix that although i may be a very talented individual (charming, witty, handsome, a great lover, amazing bike rider & modest to boot) i am not psychic and so unless she actually comes up with what she wants to do we’ll be going no where until i feel like i want to do something.

Oh hang on! She’s just said we need to go & do something. So I’ll be going for a coffee while she figures out what she means by something.

I have a situation that is worse than the one posted by the OP (or at least i feel it is).

She says – I feel like i need to get out and or do something/go somewhere, basically she’s been stuck indoors for the past few days.

My reply is a standard “ok, what do you want to do/where do you want to go”? Given she’s the one who wants to do something i feel it should be down to her to suggest what to do. Surely she has something in mind?

No. Her reply to this is “I don’t know. What do you want to do” !!!!!!

WTF. It wasn’t my idea so why’s it down to me to come up with a suggestion?

I offer up a couple of suggestions which range from walking the dogs, popping in to town to shop/eat/drink etc. None of these are what she fancies doing. So i ask her “What do you fancy doing”? The reply is always the same. “Oh i don’t know. What do you want to do”?

And so it goes until one of us, usually me, points out that I’m fine with just relaxing & listening to music (we both have different tastes so this causes more problems) watch TV (see the problem with music), read a book etc etc.

    Its a vicious circle

I thought it was a public holiday rather than a bank holiday because its an extra “day off” rather than one that happens every year :?

I had the same issue on my Paradox but didn’t like the idea/feel/look of high rise bars & loads of spacers so have gone the route of a greater angled stem (Easton) this means i can run 30/35mm of spacers & a low rise Sunline bar which works for me.

As said above just do what works for you which will mean a bit of trial & error.

Gotta love craft beers both US & UK.

Current fav brewery is The Kernel. If you get the chance to try one of their beers then do.

Also Magic Rock Brewery are the best new brewery of 2011 for my money.

Not sure on the Brew Dog marketing but its got them in to the supermarkets helping to introduce more people to the range of UK beers rather than the standard offering. Yes there are a lot of better UK brewers out there like Thornbridge, Marble, Darkstar (my local one) Magic Rock, The Kernel, Brodies, Redemption etc etc but they are doing all right for themselves so must be doing something right. Beers are like bikes in that not everyone is going to be in to the same thing.

I think the thing i don’t like about CAMRA is their closed mindedness to new ideas. They need to realise that there is so much more to UK beer than a pint of Mild!

Thats my 2p’s worth. Now, which beer to have next :P

Luke – Speak to Mike, Ronnie or Pete about it. They will all recommend the Lake ones.

Pete & Ronnie have had theirs for over 3 years & still going strong. Think Mike is on his 3rd pair of other make ones so an extra £50 to get 3 times the wear is a bargain.

I’ll be getting some Lakes once I’ve paid my tax bill

The Whyte does look interesting and if it rides anywhere near as nice as their 19 series, should be a winner!

    Pity they don’t.

Is there a max rider weight limit for the lurcher?

I know the Scott Scale has a 16.5 stone limit on the Carbon models or the warranty becomes invalid which for a rider 6’5″ seems a bit silly as it massively limits who is going to buy one given its a trail bike not out & out XC race machine.

Brendon Fairclough stated that he expects a 29er to win a DH World Cup race in the next few years…. and when it does he’ll quit 8O

Don’t let the door smack you on the arse on your way out Brendog

I can see it working on the type of course Peaty won the world title on out in Australia which was open & not as technical as say Champery which is ultra tight & technical!

Ok IMO you should go –

    Normal BB NOT EBB.

Yes to the gravity dropper guides on the top tube.

Yes to ISCG tabs, You’ll want the option of a chain guide system.

Make the rear compatible with existing wheel width to make it more accessible as a frame only option. Good new rear wheels cost over £250 no days!!

Is there anyway to incorporate a replaceable mech hanger? Using it on the rough stuff makes it more likely that you’ll catch the rear mech & bend the hanger. Straightening a steel hanger will surely weaken it over time where as having a replaceable hanger means this is no longer an issue.

Is it worth having a gusset under the headtube/downtube to add a bit of strength?

    Just me 2p’s worth :P

Received my 120mm 44’s from HucknRoll this week & for the money they are a bargain (£340 for the Micro Ti’s delivered inc duties).

Wouldn’t bother with Fox’s or Rockshox as i think they are way over priced but each to their own :?

I’m using one & notice no difference, until i come to take the cassette off then its much easier.

I’m not a weight weenie & for me its more important to have strength than anything else given my size!

Lets hope he needed the police’s help in the near future & they fail to turn up because some other bell end is wasting their time.

Perfect example of someone who can’t take their medicine when they get caught out doing something they shouldn’t.

Policeman shouldn’t have tried to grab the camera though 8O

Well my forks have just arrived so thought I’d supply the rest of you with some feedback

Ordered them on Sunday around lunchtime so 4 days door to door from the USA!!!!!! 8O

Really really impressed with Huck n Roll customer service :P

I checked with them via the live chat service they have on the site & was assured they were the straight steerer version & low & behold when they arrived that’s exactly what they were despite the tech spec’s indicating they were taper 8)

Cost wise for the forks, express shipping (5-7 days quoted but mine arrived in 4) plus VAT & all other duties it came in at just shy of £350.

Yes you MIGHT be able to get a set of the non Ti ones in the UK eventually when the 2012 ones arrive but nowhere has any in stock at the moment with the 15mm QR that are non taper in 120mm & the due date on the like of CRC & Wiggle keeps on being put back & back so to my mind they are a bargain :D

I’d defiantly order from Huck n Roll again.

He’s a really nice guy who knows his stuff.

Teaching sessions run at Whiteways but he’s also done sessions up in the Surrey Hills IIRC.

He’s off the bike at the moment following an RTA but email him and see what he’s got to say.

Train him as early as possible before he develops “bad” habits.

Might be worth putting your name down for a puppy training class (local vets should have a list) as there is quite often a waiting list but worth doing IMO.

Will also help to socialise him with other dogs.
