Yep I'm in and hoping for a repeat of the enjoyment i had here last year, although i'm doing 12 hour solo rather than pairs.

Theres 13 of us coming down from Worthing, West Sussex and most will be wearing Sussex-MTB tops, I'll be the only one of them on a 29er so say hi as you go past. 😛

Actually I PAY my bank so as I dont have to speak to an Indian Call Centre…except for arranging mortgages…grrrr.

So why not let someone else do that part of it, find a good advisor and let them deal with the call centres for you 😉

Just be polite and ride on if they start to give you grief, i refuse to have my ride ruined by someone elses bad mood. My time on a bike is too precious to waste 😉

My in-laws live in Halesworth and i normally try to get to Tunstall Forest which has a good loop that i seem to pick up bits of and are quite good with little jumps etc.

They have a website and are quite helpful on their forum, think they also do an evening ride once a week.

    Enjoy the Adnams 😛

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Niner RIP. 😉

I'm 290lb on a bad day and couldn't find any noticable flex in the back end which for a 120mm rear travel 29er i was plesantly surprised about. It was so much like sitting on my BlurLT, only with more stability, it was uncanny. 😛

Definatly on my list if i decide on a full suss 29er despite the price 🙄

Landmine under the front door mat ?

Although TBH i would be more worried about them waiting for me outside/round the corner next time i went out on it. Most of these type of kids haven't got the brains or the balls to actually break in to your house and are more likely to try doing you over with their mates to get the bike next time they see you out if they really want it.

Most of the time its just them winding you up as they feel they have a reputation (which for some immature reason they are proud of) to live up to. Perhaps they have seen you cycle past your house instead of going inside before and were just winding you up as they had caught you out.

Sorry I'm not helping much am i. Hope all stays safe.

well its not a flattering pic you have chosen but to most red bloodded men its the latter and for most gay men and women its the former.

    *coughs*VIPER*coughs*

Seriously this is a great frame for the £125 price tag, so much so that my Blur has only been out once in the 2 months i have had the Viper. See CRC for details.

Like the look of the Scandal but at almost double the price it was a bit of a no brainer for me in case i didn't get on with the whole 29er thing (yes there are tall people out there who don't get on with it believe it or not, ask clubber 😉 ).

I had a spin on the Niner RIP @ Mayhem and almost got the plastic out there and then, nice bike with no noticable rear flex even with my ample arse on it. It's a bit above your budget though 🙁

Take the bike you feel most comfortable on for long rides, either will be fine. Used my BlurLT last year, this year it's the 29er Alloy HT.

What ever you do just don't live in Bellfields or Park Barn (nearest residential area to BOC/Research Park). You'll lose your bike to a local scroat within a week if you do 😯

*disclaimer* These areas may have cleaned up their act as i am going back a couple of years, but i doubt it */disclaimer*

6’5″ 29er convert here *waves to all the other freaky wheeled bike owners* 😀

It’s not for everyone i will admit but I’m currently in the process of selling my only remaining 26″ wheeled bike so i can buy a 2nd 29er. I feel i can do anything on a 29er, and a bit more given the extra confidence it gives me, that i could do on a 26″ wheeled bike including small jumps and drops (I’m never going to go off the big stuff tbh no matter what bike i ride)

If you don’t try it then you will never know if its for you or not but i have to say that i feel its the way to go for alot of taller (and some not so tall) riders.

I don’t feel that my 29er is any slower on my normal trails which are anything from open downland to tight technical woodland singletrack than any of my previous bikes which where both 26er’s (hardtail and full susser) and those that i ride with say, and i feel, that i ride faster on the 29er.

I guess it just suits me better but then i ride with someone who is the same height as me who prefers his 26er hardtail.

Its horses for courses and unless you try it you will never know if its right for you or not 😐

sorry for the hijack but Ton did you take the Chumba ?

If so how was it compared to the Stifiee on the climbs and when pointing downhill and what travel forks are you running on it?

Sorry again for the hijack but i can’t get this frame out of my head, an itch i may need to scratch 😕

I’ve just made the decision not to go back to a 26er having spent 2 months riding my budget 29er. It’s been a tough decision to sell my SC BlurLT in favour of a £125 hardtail frame but the 29er just feels right, more stable on technical stuff, better rolling on the open trails and so much more fun in the singletrack plus much more traction when climbing plus it just rolls over stuff. The decision was cemented last week when i rode the Blur again on some singletrack and couldn’t string 2 corners together and just couldn’t settle on it.

My advise, get a cheap hardtail 29er and try it against your current 26er and see what you think, i found it a revelation. 😛

FWIW i got a Viper 29er from CRC for approx £125 and for the price i don’t think you can really go wrong with it, picked up a set of minutes for £250 from CRC as i couldn’t face going back to rigid forks and a 2nd hand set of wheels although i believe that the on-one retards are good value for money, i love the build and can’t wait to get to 24/12 later this month to thrash it round Newnham Park 😉
