I repair ipods/pads/phones on the side and to be honest as I say to all people I work for “its a temp fix” unless theyre willing to pay top whack for apple genuine screens/parts the cheaper copys for the ipads start at about 50quid and go upto 150 for genuine oem screens.

The cheaper ones work ok after a few months they become hot and unresponsive and are very very brittle. They also sit slightly proud of the bezel not fitting flush.

Personally I dont reccomend a cheaper screen as ive sin too many crack under normal use and then apple bat em away as its bin “tampered” with and voids warranty.

Either try apple to fix it as their warranty does cover some types of cracks (gogle it) or an insurance replacement as the mother in law did with her mini.

Like I said above the firms jobs last 3-6months and some longer then you move onto the next job. They have a 5yr contract with one pub chain to carry out all refurbs for them so work isnt an issue as ive already asked the formen when was the last time you had no work? Answer… 8 years ago they want them 7 days a week theres no shortage of work for us.

Put it this way the company is after 13 site managers with foreman for future contracts the jobs are 3-6 months long and are full pub/hotel refurbs the company I work for now work alongside the company I want to go to and in the whole time ive worked with them theyve never laid lads off as theres just too much work.

Just look on ebay for replacements. Most now offer a 1 or 3 year warranty and I use the copy makita li ion batts with no faults so far and I get two for 65 quid when one official one costs 85!!!

Ive tried and seen lads on site repair the old nicad ones and some li ion packs bin replaced to a bad result!! Blown chargers or melted cells in the batts which in turn shaft the cordless item theyre being used in. Not advised tbh in my experiance.
