Done it a few times and the 5000ft of climbing is about right, you will either be going up steeply or coming down steeply.

You should really read your documents. Crits, Road Races, Downhill and Enduro are not covered by Pedalcover

that’s why I said “about” everything ,You should read peoples posts correctly.

Pedalcover, covers just about everything at home away and includes events.
Also great people to deal with.

will substantially cheaper if it’s just you and a bike. Foot passenger tickets are pennies.

For a trip to santander from portsmouth expect to pay about £200 return with a bike.
But be aware that its close to a 24 hr crossing and that price will just get you a reclining seat.

    50 hours at 10% mode.?

also worth noting that if the light becomes too hot it will drop to 70% power

I use Merrell Capra Goretex walking shoes as I need a 14 and they’ve done me a couple of winters/summer no problem.
    Good solid soles and waterproof
my soles are starting to show signs of giving up now due to the pins on the flats but pretty good going for the £45 I paid for them I think.

Bought a Boardman Cx team a few months back and value wise (Halfords 20% off + 10% British cycling) at £700 its a steal and I love it. Bought it as a winter training bike but so far I’ve done, off road trails, an 80 mile road sportive and showed a few members of a local road riding club up on a 50 mile blast.

7th in supervets and 10 mins quicker than last year, with no bike change/upgrades .
Time this year would have put me on the podium in my class last year.

    great event as usual.
organisation beats some much larger events I’ve been on.
Had a good ride and think I improved on last year but will reserve judgement until I see the official results tomorrow.

First time for me, and it will probably be my last.
Not much of a MTB challenge given that I covered the 50K in 2hrs 33mins with an average speed of over 13 m/hr.
Its a well organised event but as far as difficulty I guess I’m spoilt with my usual riding in Wales and the Peaks.
Ride was mainly canal towpaths bridleways ,lanes,an old airfield and a couple of ploughed fields, so would be good for inexperienced riders or as a training run but for me it wasn’t really worth the 1hr and half drive each way.

There is some great natural riding in that area (Clwyds etc) if you’re there for a week I’d explore some of the natural stuff.

Been to Cyprus on numerous occasions and always used the below company for both bike hire and guiding advice.
I cannot recommend them enough and as they organise the ‘Sunshine cup’ XC race they know all the best routes.
I have loads of GPS files but they will advise you of which routes are riding well at that time of year and they can organise /advise on accommodation.

If your staying in Cheadle there is some good riding around Dimmingsdale woods and Alton. Best to have a look on your GPS site of choice for routes.

Just to add my experience, just had inguinal hernia repair via laparoscopic technique (keyhole).
Was off work for 5 days but was on the missus exercise bike for 15 mins (no resistance) on day 3 and went out for a steady flat ride on the MTB on day 10 (which turned into a 38 mile flat lane ride) and no real pain or aches just taking it easy, been building up the intensity and time and all has been fine, just trusting my own body to let me know when enough is enough.
I think a lot has to do with the surgeon and his skill.

Friend went today. We only live 20 mind drive away. Loads of the black was closed due to forestry work he reckoned.
Interesting. Not confirmed though? Do you (or anyone else) know if much of the red is closed?

Was there last night and only about 50yards of the red was closed for repairs everything else was open and running well in these mild conditions.
