I was looking at doing LEJOG at some point this year. Based in Edinburgh and 11hr train down to Penzance is £225!! In comparison 8hr train from Wick back to here is £40. I might end up flying to Bristol or somewhere closer though obviously means hassle of boxing up bike (can’t even take a bike bag unless I get it courierd back home). Might be easier to just cycle to lands end to start it!

Had this with a stealth on a new bike bought last week. Shop replaced the dropper. Got a reverb on another bike been fine for a year. Seems to be a bit hit and miss but plenty of known problems.

Yeah it’s just the way it came unfortunately. I think for ease I’ll just need to put some electrical tape around the wires to keep the gear one on the brake one and see how it goes for now.

In strava where you link the service to Garmin connect, have you definitely entered your correct Garmin connect (and nor your strava) username and password? If it’s wrong I don’t think it notifies you so best to double check.

Under armour compression top base layer, merino wool top and then a jersey. Depending on conditions, gilet or waterproof on top of those 3 but try not to use the waterproof if I can due to boil in the bag properties! I do love the under armour top especially.

I bought a cree x-ml t6 off eBay for £30. It’s brilliant for the money. 3hrs ringtone on brightest setting. Use it on the bars with a diablo on the helmet mount, gives me all the light I need.

Corrieyairack pass is a great adventure if you do want miles and elevation. Did it last year Garva Bridge to Fort Augustus and back again. 60km and 6000ft of climbing (in total). Took 4.5hrs. It’s all fire road and only bit couldn’t ride that was too steep was the final climb before summit going south to north. Great day out though (maybe one for the future based on what you’re after at the moment)

Wiring the money is a perfectly usual wasy of doing this, especially if someone else is collecting it for the buyer. The bank transfer system works instantly now meaning it’s a lot safer for buyer and seller. It’s how I have bought and sold cars before. The fact his mate is collecting it is neither here nor there, it could be him, could be his mate. In terms of a scam it wouldn’t make any odds who it is. As with anything be careful and vigilant and don’t let the bike go till you have the cash or funds clear in your account. This is the same with anything you sell online that the person collects. I’d say if I were going to scam or nick a bike I’d probably make it worthwhile and go for one of higher value. Need to be careful of someone using the opportunity to see what else you’ve got in your garage as well. There’s too many possibilities but don’t discount every potential buyer otherwise we’d never get anything sold! (Maybe that’s the best excuse when it comes to parting with an old bike!). Need to use your best judgement, sound the guy out on the phone, check his online presence if you can get his name etc

Yup large it is as expected! Rode them both and whilst the medium would have been OK,the large had a bit more room and felt a bit better. Just have to wait another few days now while they get the large from the warehouse

Brilliant thanks for all the advice, confirmed my “fears”. I went with what the guy in shop said, didn’t get proper feel for it as was just sitting on it with jeans on. Have phoned shop and they have demo bike in medium and large so going to try them both out around the block before pulling the trigger. Will keep you posted but I’d say it sounds like I’ll be changing to a large.

It’s not paid for yet and can always change sizes if need by as they have both in stock

I did it solo last year for the first time, was relatively fit but hadn’t done a lot of training on the bike. As has been said there is a lot of climbing and a hardtail will always be faster for this. If in doubt do the same loop a couple of times with each bike on different days and see what the difference between your times are. I did it on a 100mm anthem as well last year but have since bought a stumpy carbon hardtail 29er. My strava times for the climbs at GT have come tumbling down on the hardtail. I’d imagine pairs would be different to solo but no easier, as you are going flat out for the lap you are doing where solo you have to pace it slightly more.

In terms of training I’d put a gym session in there once a week as well. Compound moves such as squats, deadlifts, kettlebell swings along with lunges, leg extensions and calf raises etc will help with climbing and overall fitness massively along with the rest of your training.
