GF and myself had a good few dives in Egypt a couple of years ago, she was by far the least experienced in our group of 8 but imo just about the best diver. The rest of the “experienced” divers skills were atrocious, bumping into each other, hitting the coral, swimming away from each other not taking a blind bit of notice where their buddy was, poor bouyancy control, poor air consumption. The guide was tearing his hair out trying to keep control of these lot. So just cos people have loads of dives under their belts doesn’t mean they’re any good under water.
GF and me were getting at least 1hr underwater every dive when the rest had sucked their tanks dry and were sitting on the boat 😀

It can be a pain if you learn to dive then only do it on holiday as the dive places often need you to do a refresher before they let you loose in the sea. Unless you’re doing a few dives on your hols imo it’s not worth it. I don’t dive in the uk apart from work so it keeps my log book up so I can dive on holiday but my gf needs a refresher every time 🙁

I cycled up from braithwaite last week when it was closed, asked the guys if I could come through the works bits but I would think that was a one off as they looked like they were prepping machinery to start work.
The bridleway from Thronthwaite will get you up there ok and it`s a great fast ride back down there too 😀

Well on the plus side he did actually boot it to try and get up to speed rather than just gently gathering speed like a lot of the bumders do 🙂

Seeing as you’re new practice countersteering, the best way of getting a bike to turn. Watch the fast guys going from one extreme lean to the other very quickly, you’ll be able to do that with a little practice 😀

    XR1’s on it 🙂

My box of superstar bling has just landed anyway 😀 A new pair of Nanos and some chunkier grips for my big mitts 🙂

I did the Keswick monster a couple of years ago on my then hardtail that lost all the air out of the fork, that`ll teach me to check the bike over the day before and add a bit of air! 50/50 off/on road so was easily passing the CX boys on the rough but they clawed back on the road as to be expected 😆

Deffo a rear at 2″ and the front is 2.2″
It`s a 2017 bike with the basic shimano brakes, the bike was £1500 but it does have a great set of forks 😀

I like a wide bar with being a big lad, it`s a 23″ frame so thats a bit of personal choice.

I was going to get a whyte 901 but even the xl was too small 🙁
The Keswick monster miles is on the 16th October so I imagine this bike will be perfect for that sort of thing 😀

I need to bond with it I think and let it show me what it can do 😉

The current brakes will be taken off and sold on without having been applied never mind in anger, I`d just be looking at the no name stuff with a tinge of dispair every time I looked at the bike. 🙄 🙂

Ah, fellow cap wearers, I’m glad I’m not alone 😀 I only got a Castelli one as it’s big enough for my melon head and is thin enough to fit under my Mavic helmet

I got a Mavic syncro from crc http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mavic-syncro-road-helmet-2015/rp-prod113857?gs=1&gclid=CjwKEAjw5cG8BRDQj_CNh9nwxTUSJAAHdX3f0Mr45woeSgCfpavjGsLVDaTI7VItxzP1y7bbY9wSeBoCcG_w_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Had a test ride with it today, nice and light and fits really well, I normally get Giro helmets, but am very impressed with this. Comes with a removable peak so not totally roady looking 😉 I got a large size for my melon head 😀

Don’t bang it too hard BB 😀
Best way of seating a bead is to blast it with air then pop the other side off, I woouldn’t attempt trying to get only 1 side on!
I find using a 3litre diving bailout bottle charged to 232 bar as the perfect air source for seating tubeless 😀

I would think a £1200 carbon would have quiet a low spec groupset on it. Why not upgrade some bits on your current bike? Wheels and tyres are a favourite for around £250, some new bar tape, cables and a bit of a service will leave you £100’s still in the bank 😀

Ah, “need” nope, don’t need them although my freehub does some clanging like the pawls are clicking into position when I start pedalling which is a bit irritating tbh. They’re not buckled and I’ve replaced the bearings in the rear wheel.

Yep, I do and have been for the past few years at Whinlatter. I was, like most people, starting to say ‘somebody should sort this bit of trail out’ etc then saw a sign for volunteers. Now I’m a somebody lol!!
Just go with the flow and have a go at things such as pitching and digging. It isn’t all building massive berms and jumps 😉 although you do get a bit of a say in some trail features 🙂

Yep, just ride it until bits wear out. A mate of mine has just got a full Ultegra groupset minus wheels for about £450 if you want the full upgrade and another £250 for Ultegra wheels and tyres

Don’t forget you can legally ride up Skiddaw, the descent is rather good 😉

    6’6″ and ride a XL Defy 1 😉
I’d go for the Defy at that price and upgrade the wheels and tyres with some Ultegra wheels and whatever tyres you fancy. I got Michelin Pro4 service course for my front and Pro4 Endurance for the back. CRC are doing these tyres with free inner tubes as well

If it was a group who were all together sometimes it’s just a pain trying to keep up as Barry bloody Sheene at the front has to overtake everything and so other riders sometimes do dodgy overtakes to keep up. It`s just a bit harder getting a group to make progress tidily than a single or pair of riders 😀

I had a 04 GS and the final drive worry caused me to get rid about 6 years ago. Ive now got a Triumph Explorer ’12 plate. Had a go last year on a demo WC GS and really did wonder what I saw in my original one compared to the Triumph 😀
I`d suggest test riding an Explorer, imo a FAR better engine 😀

Good luck and enjoy the searching 😀

A bloke I worked with complained about is funny tasting tea and coffee for a couple of weeks, when he was quizzed in depth it transpired he used the flex from his old kettle for the new one as it fitted perfectly.
He quite rightly assumed the flex for the new kettle was in the box and didn`t check.
It wasn’t, the manufacturer had popped it inside a plastic bag in the kettle. So for 2 weeks he`d been stewing his flex in boiling water then drinking it with a slight coffee taste 😀 😀
