6ft 3 ish here with 36 inside leg. I have a xl niner wfo, fits like a glove, they are short in the top tube though. I’m Herefordshire based if you want to sit on it :-) Also have a Turner sultan xl which also fits well. At no point did I feel I should have bought xxl. The sultan frames for sale.

Pipe cutter, the ones with the wheel blades. Even if you don’t use them to complete the cut they leave a n awesome groove to guide the hacksaw after. If you use hacksaw at any point, wash off the filings.

My blummin mates that’s what (I was very lucky to have circumvented the auto correct there or that would have been entirely different)

And the now huge amount of people I know thanks solely to bikes that I stop and have a chat with in the Forest of Dean.

    And beer after…

Barrafundle and Broadhaven beaches, Bosherston ponds, thats all in the same area so you can do all three in one walk.
Go to solva when the tides out and walk along the sand out to to sea, bloody stunning (careful of tides)

I went frame only as I had parts to use.

I have 140mm 29er pikes(not boost), scraper rims built on hope pro2 hubs, chronicle rear tyre and Speccy purgatory front. 1×10 zee chainset and zee brakes

I am, absolutely love it. Really agile as I have the chainstays set to minimum. I have decided to never bother with 29+

Thats my opinion RicB, the sidewalls are always wet and sticky (ooer missus) due to stans leaking out

I will never get purgatory again ( mind you im talking pus size 3″ here) never stop leaking through sidewalls
If you like lowish pressures they constantly need re-sealing, costs too much in fluid

I can no longer see the point of 29+

I took a short break from plus size to favour my Niner wfo as the weather improved.
I have a Trek stache with the adjustable chainstays set to minimum, just for a change i took it out for a short blast on saturday and there’s no blummin way would I ever consider sacrificing the agility of 650b+ for the rollability of 29+.

This is of course a very limited view with very limited experience to back it up.

In short, if you’re buying new, go for 27.5+ and uber short stays

Very hard. The wife and I are going through the mill with our respective parents. Utterly knackered by the whole thing.

How old is the house? Also the layer that’s left on after the rest peels off, does it leave a powdery chalky residue on your fingers if you drag your hand over it?

If it’s staying indoors, consider wax. Linseed oil will take ages to dry if it’s raw. Boiled linseed oil would however be okay

I really like mine, a few minor niggles but nothing out of the ordinary. Does me for work and leisure, been to the French Alps a few times with four blokes, bikes and kit. I’d have another.

During all that I’ve been through with my father, I came to realise how bloody lucky we are in the UK to have the NHS. I’m sure others have different opinions but where i am they have been brilliant. It’s been theraputic for the wife and myself to read your stories, thanks and stay strong :D
Eddiebaby I hope you’re feeling more positive today

I’m not saying they still do this but, when we stayed at le Boomerang they even booked our places for the event. That was a couple of years ago, owners/manager may feel differently now.

I’d recommend to stay in Le Boomerang, Les Gets. You don’t need any company to sort it. Just get it booked as soon as possible to ensure you depart from your chosen town. Oh, take warm gear just in case, when it’s cold it’s properly cold, especially on lifts.

    I would use osmo

Probably the woodwax finish. I would avoid varnish, at least when the wax/oil dries out it’s easy to refresh it.

It’s not easy taking a photo to give an idea of clearance is it, I reckon theres 4-5mm. I have ridden it a hell of a lot, through the worst conditions possible. At no point did they rub or deposit large amounts of mud onto the forks. I’ve been very pleased with them quite honestly. I have a rrp thingy and a crudcatcher which seem to be keeping me fairly clean.

    There’s some info here already.

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/650b-and-other-plus-sizes-if-you-like-rim-tyre-frame-fork-combinations

I’m running wtb scraper rims(45mm wide) on hope hubs currently. My Pikes are normal 29er and run 3.0 tyres just fine, you would have to take accurate measurements of the frame to know what you can get away with on the rear, most of the time it seems to be 2.8s that work, on scraper rims you’re looking at 72mm ish.
Another thing to take into account is chain clearance, you’ll probably be forced to go 1X10/11 or the chain will rub on tyre.

Oh and fwiw it’s fun on a hardtail, im about to venture into full suss + :-)
