If its bare plaster, seal it first!!!

I’ve seen so many skirtings come loose as the adhesive is basically stuck to the dusty surface of new plaster. Stixall or something like CT1, gripfill isnt that good in comparison to the new contruction adhesives.

As above, it’s treated as very non urgent. I had mine done privately, around £3k as I recall, had to sell a bike to fund it .  If it gets really painful lie down and “enjoy” the sensation of it flopping back into place.

As the above tradesmen have said, it’s absolutely shocking how a lot of them just don’t care. I’ve just spent several weeks on a job with some of the most atrocious standards I’ve ever witnessed. Imagine having a kitchen floor re-tiled where sds drills were used to remove old tiles and adhesive. Literally no effort was made to contain the mess and it was an open plan kitchen / sitting room/ hallway. All the surrounding furniture, all of the glasses and kitchen ware, all covered in a thick layer of dust. Two wooden floors that I’d recently sanded and oiled ruined. In total ive filled 22 holes where light fixtures and sockets were put in the wrong place. So far three tyres have been trashed from dropped screws. A velux window was removed last week as it didn’t seem obvious that the lead flashing needed to go under beforehand, they cut around it with a multi tool and let all the debris fall into the freshly finished bathroom, all over the clients towels, soaps and toothbrushes. I’m ranting now….this isn’t half of the list… thanks for listening

I’m afraid we’ve gone a bit mad here. We have the Ninja 15in 1 and the two drawer jobbie. If you like lot’s of different roasted/ fried things in your meals then the two drawers are awesome. If you like one pot stuff then the added advantage of the pressure cooker on the 15 in 1 is very handy. Out of the two I think I prefer the two drawer version, it’s very clever with the separate timers and the sync function.. and yes, go big.

Edit to add….the pot that comes in the ninja foodi 15 in 1 is a bit of a letdown, many people upgrade it to a stainless steel version that costs an extra 50 quid within months of purchase

Possibly the worst cold I’ve ever had. Horrendous sore throat followed by congestion and then  weeks of coughing .

    Negative tests throughout

Just bought Jedi survivor as it’s on offer which is good. However, the game I’ve loved the most this year was Bramble, hall of the mountain king. It starts off a bit happy and childlike but soon decends into a fairytale nightmare.  Very nice little indie game..

A pale water based varnish ( polyvine) would achieve close to what the white osmo does anyway. And be quicker. The process with the white osmo is a very thin coat followed by normal clear osmo on top.

Don’t expect the Zinsser allcoat to stick it probably won’t. Bradite one can is a superior product indoors for min prep. Alternatively an adhesive primer like Zinsser bin as you already mentioned, or Zinsser cover stain then paint with whatever. I recently used the bradite stuff on laquered windows, seriously impressed

I think my hedgehogs are back …obviously they’re my hedgehogs, sod the neighbours.  We had three regulars but then they vanished,  however I saw suspicious  droppings the other day ( what a sad life I lead) so the wife put food out in our ,in theory,  catproof  feeding station and its gone.  Camera  is going out tomorrow night ..

But…. if the paint you’ve had mixed is one of the new “durable/washable” acrylics then no its a bad idea. If its plain old vinyl matt then yeah

Johnstones Aqua guard is currently considered a top quality satin water based paint and can be mixed to any colour, I can confirm it’s excellent to use, Also Benjamin Moore scuff x , but that’s blimmin expensive. To be fair there’s a lot of choice,  and most are better than  estate eggshell.

Sandtex still good, as is Johnstones or Dulux. Just go for trade quality rather than retail, and don’t use pva, use a proper stabilising solution if theres any need to. it was always a rule of thumb to not use stabilising solution on new render, only on chalky surfaces

Holy crap, glossed walls, takes me back.
Definitely wash, don’t underestimate the importance of this bit. Sugarsoap is good , HG liquid sander is better. The shellac based primer is very good but as stated above is very smelly. Dulux supergrip or Johnstones TRADE Ultra primer are less smelly and much easier to use.
You MIGHT get away with a just a good clean, but there’s no way I would risk it.

I’ve had several holidays in the Ardeche, there’s some flipping awesome stuff there but I was lucky to be guided by two mates who were at the time in PGL as there was a centre there.
You’ll definitely need a guide tbh, don’t ask me for routes as it was years ago 😞
We even got in an off piste Mt Ventoux back when it was legal (sort of)

Some of the plaster ready-mix tubs are horrible to use. Get gyproc easyfill powder with a caulking blade and thank me later.

Biggest question here is what product are you finishing it with. If it’s Dulux old fashioned solvent based gloss or satinwood then alot less is required. Zinsser universal degreaser and cleaner is the new sugarsoap and is excellent for helping paint stick.
My usual routine for applying water based paint is clean, light sand with flexible pads, apply adhesion primer ( Dulux supergrip) then paint with whatever. If you’re using solvent based satinwood then no need for the adhesive primer. Bedec do a paint called MSP, the satin is great,I don’t like the gloss much, this stuff can sometimes stick without and adhesive primer but that’s a gamble I’m not willing to take.

Absolutely thrilled with mine, I have an XXL 290 pro, ( alloy)

It’s had a good testing with Basque MTB and in Molini and I ride it locally in the fod, sometimes on long all day rides.

For me it’s without doubt the most capable bike I’ve owned, and I’ve had a few…

    Edit…..I didn’t like the SRAM brakes….

brushes are never the same even after proper cleaning, look for Brushmate storage. they are basically suspended in chemical fumes, they work BRILLIANTLY if you dont let the chemical dry out.

Theres also a gel storage version which is also good but you have to wipe the gel off with a rag beforehand, its called Go or store and go , sorry im rubbish with links on this forum. Shame about the brushes, i like wooster stuff a lot, there are brush restorer liquids but its a bit hit and miss if they’ve gone hard.
I always go for quality brushes even for oil paint, theres nothing more irritating than watching the bristles fan out half way through a job

We’re not great at it, very lazy really. To give me a kick up the backside I’ve bought the biggest in the ninja foodi range (15in1) our cooker is rubbish so that’s my justification. So far I’m very impressed with it. Eaten more fresh stuff in the last few days than I have in weeks.

Dropping things, instantly losing things by simply turning around…but mostly dropping things. If I use an allen key for anything I may as well just throw it on the floor straight away to get it over with..
And everything that’s dropped is without fail just beyond reach leading to scrabbling of fingers and a lot of old man grunting.
And oddly, I have to keep forcing myself to drink enough water, when I was young I’d get thirsty and drown myself in squash, nowadays it’s a chore?

Stain it a colour, not some icky fake oak, I mean a colour , a cheapo way of doing it is with a thinned down emulsion, or cuprinol woodshades. Then add varnish, it’ll last for blummin ages,

Well I dunno, but salt would wipe away easily in that timeframe. Were the bricks coated with something, it looks more like some mortar additive washing out. I’m Also twitching about there being no drip edge 😕

I was in the car park of the posh home store, Baileys near Ross on Wye, and a lady, presumably couldn’t be bothered to go to the toilets inside, and presumably hadn’t seen me sitting in the van, crouched at the back of her Mini and wazzed aplenty.

    I mean, Baileys FFS!

Thanks for this, I work there 🤣

Also the guides at The Forest of Dean would do stuff close to the border. With the added advantage that you could rent something around Symonds yat, evening meals at the Saracens head or the Ferrie Inn. 😀
