Really dislike watching anything that keeps going from very quite talking to very loud action

thats just how things should be though, makes the viewing experience much better, if the talking is to quiet turn the volume up, will make the loud action parts even better. which is why i generally watch films early evening so i don’t disturb the neighbours to much.

most decent sound systems will have a setting that will enhance the talking for when you don’t want it to loud like the night mode you mention.

not sure i would spend as little as £100 on a soundbar and sub, can’t imagine the sound quality would be any good at that price

Ford have a transit eV on their website with roughly 190 mile range… Looks ok

and whats that range going to be with a heavy load in the back.
admitidly my long journeys are done with not much weight but i would need at least double that range before even considering one.

as above it’s unlikly you’ll do it cheaper but it will be better for the same money.

i’ll be doing one soon with my brothers help who has done a few, he reckoned it would cost a little more but be much better.

last time i wanted some OSB it was actually slightly cheaper to get ply although that was the back end of last year so may have changed again now.

Anyone see the bird strike video?

happened to me at croft once, much lower speeds so it stayed in one piece

i read somewhere that one broke his visor and he ended up with bits of bird inside the helmet

i would go 38 as long as its not the basic 38. bike shop has lent me a bike while waiting for a warrenty claim and the basic 38’s on it are no where near as good as my factory 36’s(2018 so not the better grip2).

gave up golf when i started mountain biking and had less spare cash since.

clubs are getting on a bit now, not sure how old but the irons are ping G10, driver 3 wood and hybrid are callaway big bertha diablo and an odysey putter which where bought when fairly new out.
keep meaning to get a new charger for the powercaddy battery and going to see if i can still hit a ball ok.

i imagine the clubs will still perform for me just as well as a new set

I still don’t know why people tile in areas that don’t get wet

because for me (and obviously plenty of other people) a fully tiled bathroom looks better.

unleaded has caught up to diesel in ambleside, both at 184.9, a couple of miles down the road diesel is a penny less but unleaded is 10p less.

I’ve got a Stanley knife in my toolkit, but that doesn’t make it ok to take it to the pub

my stanley knife normally goes in the door pocket of my van but there’s been plenty of times i’ve accidently left it in my pocket and gone for a few pints after work.

Existing plasterboard is skimmed, I’ll double check the weight limits. I don’t think we’re going for stone so I’m assuming it’ll be ok.

most porcilain is also to heavy for a skimmed wall, may not have this exactly right but limit for a skimmed wall is about 22kg a sqm, thats inculding tile, adhesive and grout.

marmox is fully waterproof, lighter and much easier to cut and fix with the washers. also has insulation properties.
labour time saved in the install makes up for the added cost of marmox and washers.
also hardibacker isn’t fully waterproof, only water resistant.
the boards i use are called delta boards, fit them then tape and seal the joints/over fixings and its fully waterproof.

Looks better, too, imo, but I get that is subjective.

like you say subjective, i much prefer the look of a decent tiled bathroom.( being a tiler i would say that but it’s true)

i will admit that the shower panels can look better than a badly tiled bathroom or one done with really cheap crap tiles.

waterproofing only really needed in wet areas.
also is the existing plasterboard skimmed? if it is if you are using porcilain or natural stone tiles it probably wont take the weight so would possibly need to come of and be reboarded.
tanking paste onto plasaterboard is ok but i would prefer to just use tilebacker boards like marmox etc., much better than hardiebacker.
no need to use green MR plasterboard in a bathroom, obviously no good for wet areas and no benifit in dry areas

i liked the ME7’s that much i bought another pair after half a dozen rides on them as my 2fo’s are on there last legs.

previous shimano shoes i’ve had have always lasted well.

Orbea OC would be good if you could buy aftermarket – they sell the whole thing as spare parts and service looks super easy.

while waiting for warrenty on my rallon frame the shop has lent me a rallon with one of those on, while it works fine it just feels terrible to use compared to my bikeyoke revive.

It’s easy enough with a slate rip and then either lead or copper to make a strap to reattach the slate is the standard method. I think you can buy premade slips now.

a couple of big cable ties work well, just needs a hole drilling near the bottom of the slate to pass the end of the first tie through.

above was an issue with early eagle mechs but then sram modified the jockey wheel to fix it, it’s a while since i’ve heard it mentioned. i’ve always used GX and they seem strong enough to me going by the amount of damage/marks mine seem to get but still work fine.

showing as in stock and a lot cheaper than i paid for my last one 18 months ago

seen some video footage and that showed some tape blocking of that left turn, fairly certain that it wasn’t there when we came down. we had a late start time just before the ebikes so a lot of them passed us through the day and we ended up as vertually last finishers.

had a fun weekend. never ridden RSC before and couldn’t belive how slick it was on saturday and then a tree knocked me of the bike in 5 and caused me to headbut another tree, luckily with no damage to head or helmet.
sunday lone wolf was a good run, on repeat my finger tightened up and i really struggled to release the rear brake near the end, was glad it didn’t go further down. RSC took it a bit to easy after saturday but it was mujch better. 4 was my best stage of the day and had an issue on 5 when i started to turn left instead of going straight and came to a stop just of the stage, got confused by a bit of old tape blowing around and think i was that drained my brain didn’t notice it was white not yellow. i wasn’t the only one, lad in front of me had gone even further down the wrong way and spoke to someone else who almost did the same.

5ah batteries are about £70, problem with that kit above is it will be the slow charger.
if your using a saw quite a bit you’ll either need the fast charger or more batteries, fast charger being the cheaper option.

would have thought rockgaurdz do one for your bike. got one on both my bikes, the Rallon is onto it’s second one, the first lasted 3 years and had a lot of big hits going by the state of it(lakes riding) but the frame was perfect behind it.

Transit oil change and filter 7am this morning using genuine Ford oil £150 + vat, the ford garage over £300
The sump probably holds a fair drop of oil

not sure about the older ones but the 2.0L custom takes at least 9L, will be about £100 at a garage just for the oil if its decent/correct spec.

someones video caught both my OTB’s. first was before the first turn, second was coming back onto the snow after taking the rocky inside of that first turn and i would put both of them down to the congestion. my mate started near the front and had a nice clean run, i think a lot of luck involed unless your close to the front.

    bigfoot

OTB twice near the start and another little tumble trying to avoid someone a little after the top of the quad lift and then it went quite well the rest of the way down. ended up 43nd overall and 6th in catagory.

starting about 60th was bad enough in the snow, it must have been really hard work starting much further back.

Thanks daffy, just reading some more and it looks I should be able to see from the negative connections whether there is an intelligent battery system.

thats what i read when i needed to change the battery on my wifes 2011 mini a few months ago, that had nothing there so just put the new one on.

DOT will damage paint but it’s not like it’s instant, as long as you clean it off resonably quickly no harm done.

been using a giro switchblade for racing the last 6 years, never once taken of the chinbar, only bought it as its all i could get at very short notice. ridden with it on for big race loops, like 30 miles and 25 temps and while a bit warm was ok but i cope with higher temps than a lot of my mates do.
just bought a proframe as i’m hoping the more open front helps with my breathing on more pedaly stages, its also noticbly lighter

I don’t know if you could ever call no roof, no windscreen, no bodywork and no heater civilised!

But yeah I guess the difference is that the Atom is built from the ground up to handle the power plant that’s installed whereas I understand Caterhams have just had increasing amounts of power shoehorned into a design that wasn’t intended for it. I’ve only driven lower power variants though so I have no experience to speak from.

caterhams etc. do handle the power very well, they are so simple that its easy to alter things to deal with the power upgrades very well.

the civilised comment i was more meaning my car was set upto get the absolute best out of it on the track, those geomertry and suspension settings didn’t make it an easy car to drive on roads unless they where very good sufaces. i guess a track setup atom would be the same.

are the A052 a replacement for the A048? which i used to use for road tyres on my caterham style kit car(slicks/wets on track) as last i heard the A048’s where loosing there road legal status(a few years ago now)
i once made the mistake of going out when it was only just above freezing and soon went home again, no chamce of getting any heat in them and the slightest touch of the throttle spun the rears up. it was worse than monsoon condition sighting laps on cold slicks at oulton park.

i’m not up with current caterham models but the R400 was about the sweet spot for performance/fun( my car was about roughly on an equal pace with one). my mate with an R400 wasn’t happy he couldn’t leave me around a lap so upped his to R500 spec and while it was very quick he said it lost a lot of the fun out of it and he soon sold it.

it took me about 4 years of using mine road and track to loose the fun of driving on the road and going track only but i’m guessing an atom is probably a bit more civilized on the road than my car was.

if its a plastered wall check the weight of tiles and adhesive your putting on it, most procilain tiles are to heavy for a plastered wall.
i don’t use the cement boards behind tiles, marmox or similar is much better. easier to cut, fix and is waterproof, anything else needs tanking in wet areas.

I run GX Eagle chains and they’re the only component in the drivetrain that needs regularly replacing.

try an X01 eagle chain, i’ve found they last way over twice as long for twice the price.

not that i can see it when riding but i just don’t like the look of the sram steel rings. just replaced my alloy one at a year old after bending it on a rock somehow and comparing it to the new one wear was very good so it would have lasted quite a lot longer, if a £63 chainring lasts 2 years i’m happy enough to stick with that.

Allows them to make better use of 98 RON fuel as well by advancing the timing

don’t know about really modern stuff but that didn’t used to be the case, a knock sensor could retard the timing but not advance it past what it was originally mapped at by the manufacture so it was only certain performance cars mapped for 98 fuel that got that benefit.
the integra i had used 98 but the knock sensor allowed 95 in an emergancy, only did it once and the differance was very noticable.

directferries, was first to show on google, steampacket says vans can’t be booked online.

guessing they class a van as a comercial vehicle and with no windows wouldn’t get away with booking it on as a campervan.

I can 100% recommend the 2 day enduro on the Isle of Man. All techy, natural stages in plantations.

Entry is only £35 for two days, which offsets the cost of the ferry from Heysham or Liverpool (foot passengers can leave a bike on the car deck for free).

return ferry tickets for those dates are showing as over £1400 to go over in my van, its nearly £300 for a car but theres no way i could get everything in the wifes mini anyway(doubt i’d even get the bike in).

custom has 2 motors, fairly certain my old mk7 only had one.
my custom had the connection problem mentioned above at just over 3 years old, luckily ford still did it under warrenty. that caused the wipers to do all sort of strange things randomly.

i reuse the sram ones, broke a chain mid ride a couple of weeks ago, it was the quick link that failed, luckily had a spare.
i don’t remove the chain very often but am guessing i had reused that one to many times.
