I always found mine useful for keeping stuff chilled on journeys. obviously have limitations once you’re camped (unless you have electric hook up)

is there an inverse correlation between people who actually follow football and people who just use the national team as an excuse for jingoism?

the more "Engineers" i meet the more i hate having the 'e' word in my current job title
i trained as a gas fitter – city and guilds- and 30 years experience
and when it comes to getting a job that's well worth the paper it's written on

covehithe beach is a desolate scene of unchecked coastal erosion now worth a (careful) look though
southwold and walberswick for beach time
dunwich and aldeburgh for walks (and fish n chips)
good pub at the far end of aldeburgh high st – the name eludes me
the nelson in southwold and the bell at walberswick
    wacky amusements on the pier
and if its family riding you're after there's miles of traffic-free tracks
only downside is the whole place gets booked up months in advance by hoorays

worcester bosch junior as mentioned above is a good reasonably priced boiler – true it doesn't have adjustable control of water temperature but it should deliver a constant 55deg at the taps all year round
vailant ecotec pro also worth considering
    glowworm okish
viessman have a name but i dont know nothing about them
steer clear of just about everything else (imho)

ok mea culpa i missed your first post somehow and thought you were criticizing labour v other major parties
not new labour v the missed opportunity for radical social democratic change 😳

    i'm down with that

ernie i may be missing your point but you seem to be suggesting that government rather than corporate greed is responsible for increased fuel prices

And as far as how much the heating payment has gone up under New Labour, I think we need to see how much gas and electricity prices have gone up under New Labour first. It is substantially above the rate of inflation – about three times more than IR at the last count I

OK, since no one can provide any evidence to suggest otherwise, I'll reassert my claim that it is substantially above the rate of inflation. And I therefore think we need to see how much gas and electricity prices have gone up under New Labour

since when did the government set gas and elec prices ?
its a capitalist free market ever since the wicked witch of grantham de-nationalized them

a boiler needs an adequately sized gas supply pipe to deliver sufficient gas at the correct inlet pressure and enough volume when the appliance is on full gas rate
this is affected by boiler output ,gas pipe size, length and route of supply, heating load etc
it may be that your existing supply is adequate for your existing boiler and this can be checked
but if as you suggest your boiler is 'not man enough' it may well be necessary to fit a larger supply to a new boiler which has a higher output to suit your house or if its a combi

so you have a heating engineer who you have used before so presumably trust – who appears to be giving good advice by recommending quality equipment – has taken into account the weaknesses of your system and is able to install a boiler at short notice

for 1500 quid i would snatch his hand off

either cut your losses now and replace it with something decent or (as above) sign up to BG maintainence contract – their engineers will at least know the issues with this shile of pite inside out because when they were first launched we were fitting thousands of them, until someone noticed that breakdowns had gone off the graph thanks entirely to the isar and its equally crap cousin the icos. at which point they were dropped overnight and BG have been throwing parts at them ever since

sorry to hear you've inherited one – i sometimes wonder how many people must think "the boilers playing up I know lets sell the house"

Plumber sat next to me reckons from £30 up to about £80 depending on how big it is and if you have removed the foam and limescale. Diesel money and a plumbers birth right indeed

£120 is my personal best – nearly killed me carrying it out though

    £ 40 is average

sounds like he's giving good advice
in the situation you describe i would also recommend a combi
    worcester bosch are good
as for which model junior is basic reliable and cheap and delivers hot water at a consistent 55 degrees which is fine – comes in two outputs 24 + 28 kw for more hw flow/ bigger properties and condenses in both modes
imho the others dont offer you any significant advantages
