Definitely think van if you’re only using it one day a week, on my 3rd van with several cars in between including a couple of VRS. The van is infinitely more practical and you can hop in the back to get changed if it’s pissing down. If you decide on the VRS, go petrol DSG, so much nicer than the manual oil burner.

I previously owned a mk4 VRS (manual) and my other half has a Cupra 290 (DSG) hatchback and they are completely different beasts. The VRS is a great load lugger but the chassis is utterly outclassed by the Cupra, which is also noticeably quicker.

The Cupra also has much better standard spec and it feels better put together than the Skoda.

3:04 with FTP of 370 and 82kg in Aug 2020. Now 80kg with FTP of 380 so reckon that time is still ‘doable’ :)

@400w I was doing mid 20 10s, good position @ 370 that reduced to mid 18. Don’t be obsessed on absolute watts, position is paramount.

I sacrifice about 5-7% on the TT bike Vs road bike due to aggressive position that ultimately restricts breathing. I do train a lot in the TT position but can never squeeze the difference closer. It’s a balancing act between aero and power for many people and I can go way faster when in a position that limits my output.
