”Anyone got any experience of amps that can be used for both electric and bass guitar?”

Line 6 PodGo – with more than you’ll ever use and some great Bass amps on there

Id be using it at least once or twice a month for surfing trips to the south west – currently using my car and getting shafted for (summer rate) air bnbs…

My comment about them sitting on peoples drives is just what I see on my commute to work – there are three that literally don’t move, and one of those I know still has a polythene cover on the bed…but that may be more about the area im riding through!  I know full well on here something like this is going to be used, I guess its the same as the £2,000 mtb that bought in lockdown that hasn’t seen the light of day in the last 12 months…

I might head over to gobony and see whats to rent for a long weekend, I know a couple of t6s semi local that are on there, see how it really is getting across country and the practicality of surfboards and wetsuits and then revisit…

There are a few reasonably priced ones on Ebay but I just dont have the knowledge or trust to part with large amounts of cash on there these days – will have a nose at the facebook page…

Ive a feeling it was a rental at some point, as they also hire vans out round Devon, hence the hideous stickers…..

Trouble is as soon as Im looking at decent T6s the price seems to go north of £30k even with 100k on the clock which seems nuts, alright the engine might be sound but othe bits, suspension etc… start to need replacing around that time…

How on earth are people paying, and affording, anything of £40k for something that probably sits on their driveway for 51 weeks ofthe year?!

I know its had a facelift, and I think its a ‘private’ plate (as its the guys initial) so bodywork and reg number don’t help me…

Ive been talking directly to the owner but found the vehicle advertised on autotrader….

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/motorhome-details/202405159724860

Personally although I can get it cheaper Im going to hold out for a T6 there seem to be a few further north that are cheaper than down here…

Why is everything so much more expensive just because you live in the south?!

thanks for the replies, its a 2015 1.9 102bhp ifthat makes a difference

It’ll be two of us mainly, plus dog… will be taking the kids occasionally but they can have the tent!

Regular use will be surfing trips, theres room for securing boards inside, essex to Braunton and then following the conditions to use that as a base and poodle off into cornwall if necessary, if Devon is flat.

Bodywork looks ok, couple of discoloured spots around the door handles but eventually would be looking to respray as I do surf through winter.

now that Ive seen the chicane its ridiculous…

Its a 45degree right followed quickly by a u turn and another 45degree right – it will cause more crashes than hitting the cobbles quickly…

Riders are complaining a lot – most thinks its a joke….

slower speeds on that section would be a nightmare, they way to tackle any section is to maintain speed and fluidity, one year I had to avoid a bike about halfway down the arenberg, never got back into a rhythmwas like bumping up and down a kerb for 1/4 of a mile…

    bigdawg
    Free Member

its not a chicane to avoid the arenberg its to slow down the entrance to the cobbles – the approach is a not slow (up to a mile) descent and its easy to be hitting 40mph – even for me –  when you hitthe biggest most spaced cobbles of the race, hitting those at 40mph could be like hitting a kerbstone after misjudging the bunny hop, they’re just trying to avoid crashes at the entrance.

But Im with MVDP on this its a bit crap…

for me it was totally down to ‘that’ deal… Sent my (racing) membership card back as soon as it was confirmed Shell would be sponsoring them and racing…

Total greenwash and this comment doesn’t inspire hope for change …

I did it a few time about 5-6 years ago – did the first ride on christmas eve of 150 miles and then poodled for the rest of it – enjoyed it tbh, one day it was mild and damp next day it was minus 5 and shaking ice off my gloves…

think about it every year but tbh Ive done it got the (original) badges – would be too easy to sit on a turbo for 12 hours in one day and someone send me an email with a picture of a badge, not really much of an achievement – feel virtual riding ha lost the spirit of the original ride.

I don’t suppose torture would entail having to enter SAS are you tough enough and then have to do the beasting against each of the staff bareknuckle for half an each each in succession….??

Then I won’t be watching that absolute oxygen thief … why anyone would want to give that excuse any air time is totally beyond me..

do some research, or rather do some research on the speakers – I bought a cab years ago with 4 green backs celestions in, turns out they were 1960s originals – sold three of them, sold the cab separately and at the time bought a mesa boogie amp and cab, and guitar.

That looks amazing – notice a lot of actors from Last Samurai, but as much as I love the 70s series, this will hopefully be epic…

Hope the UK showing isn’t too far after February – Ive been waiting for this since just after lockdown…!  Can we just skip Christmas and just do February please, that is unless they finally release a Folio edition of Shogun (why they haven’t is beyond me) and then I’ll be reading that until February…

IM still riding almost daily my 2002 (Once) Giant TCR – still much lighter than any bike I’ve owned, completed Paris Roubaix on it, gearing 52 with a 21/11 cassette – I still class it as a climbing bike and I think its still got a place on Leith Hill (long) on Strava in the top 10 from about 6 years ago… amazing bike…

I think we managed because that was the norm?!

Last year’s cliff house, that went so far over budget – I wonder if it ever sold. Wife divorced him.

If you’re talking about the lighthouse at saunton its currently on Rightmove recently reduced to £6.5million – still with no internal fittings (ie lights or a kitchen) and in a position that on a sunny day you’ll spend over two hours in a traffic jam trying to get home…

and at £6.5million that barely covers the money he borrowed which means he destroyed his life, and a perfectly good house, for nothing…

Im clearly doing something wrong as I cant even afford a normal mortgage (despite having an above average salary) and am doomed to rent for the rest of my life, how the hell are these people just coming up with a couple of hundred thousand from nowhere every week???

After recently ‘discovering’ Saunton and Croyde, I much much prefer it to Cornwall…

Cornwall esp Newquay just seems to be getting more crowded and judgemental, how good you are, what youre riding etc…

Saunton two weeks ago I spent 6 hours just cruising around on an 8ft hire shop foamy (surf forecast was crap – booked it in advance as thought it would be the only thing able to catch waves that day)…and loved it, uncrowded, everyone just having fun and the serios guys doing serious stuff in there own area – saunton is huge…

Downside the carp ark is tiny for such a huge beach – on good days it will be jam packed full by 11 and the queue can stretch back to braunton as they operate a one out one in process, I head to woolacombe and park in the nat trust carpark on these days.

Theres a couple of hire shops literally onthe beach, i used the one that you have to book in advance online and just collect – you can do this while standing n the shop too…good selction of boards really

Food theres one main cafe at saunton not cheap, not mega expensive but run out of chicken and chorizo pasties really early..!

Didnt really explore Croyde but IM heading back mid October will have a nose then…

I wear a 4/3 infiniti Ltd – quite poss the warmest suit on the planet a 5/3 will be plenty warm enough, poss too warm but it is chilling down, would also dig out some boots maybe…

No Insurer would have touched an unregulated and unregistered, untested vessel fullstop let alone at 4000m

Iread this a couple of days ago…

The acrylic window and the rigidity sensors, what did he seriously think he could do between the warning signs and getting back to the surface four miles above him…

All his warning systems could do was tell him he was about to die..  Guy was seriously deluded…

it didn’t seem right even from a spending our total income on fuel point of view – but an odd comment from the guy that runs the company?!

    bigdawg

and does anyone know what the one button does??

    bigdawg
    Free Member

for people with so much money you’d maybe expect a modicum of some kind of common sense?!:

OceanGate says it is an experimental vessel, and when CBS travelled onboard the correspondent had to sign a waiver accepting that it “has not been approved or certified by any regulatory body, and could result in physical injury, disability, emotional trauma or death”.

that’s from the BBC new article…

Massively done on the cheap, one of only four vessels that can reach these depths apparently, but no communications, no way of alerting anyone if anything goes wrong, no rescue beacon, no back up systems (maybe spare batteries for the controller), no contingency plan for anything and most importantly and no way out even if they did surface…

Also I’ve just noticed ”In one journey the company can go through $1m worth of fuel, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush told CBS News last year.” – so four passengers US$250,000 each – that barely covers the fuel costs, how did they plan to carry on doing this??

And my back of fag packet calculations I think I worked out approx pressure would be 1 ton per square inch at that depth… So life expectancy of approx a second

When you have someone like Therese Coffey ‘in charge’ of the environment its no surprise that there is rubbish everywhere, raw sewage in the seas and rivers and polution levels way above ‘dangerous’ in residential areas and the country just generally looking like its a total sh*t tip.

Why give the job to someone who in the past has shown little but contempt for environmental issues?

I know nothing about Netflix and Now tv but are you using the on demand function ie streaming as opposed to watching live?”

no just streaming even the ‘live’ channel is just streaming

    bigdawg

I havent watched the bbc in years, live or recorded, or listened to their radio stations, find them incredibly boring, but according to the licencing website :

”If you watch or record TV on any channel via any TV service (e.g. Sky, Virgin, Freeview, Freesat), you need to be covered by a TV Licence. If you watch live on streaming services (e.g. ITVX, All 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now, Sky Go), or use BBC iPlayer*, you need to be covered by a TV Licence.”

So according to that because I pay to have now tv & netflix i need to pay the bbc…, hows that work..??

”How much time do you actually spend more than 2m below the surface?”

When I go surfing, esp in winter, more time than Id ideally like to… :-))

As I understood it 5mta and over just means that ideally I can spend more time in the water with it, not necessarily 25 plus meters below it…

I did look atthe venue series but couldnt see there was any storage to download music or podcasts..

And now I have the advertising sidebar —–> telling me I need a polar Grit pro…?!?!
