Condoms – but my son is a sweet innocent young lad that does not do ‘that sort of thing’… Should I get some for him. That would so cool though – to loose it at Download. My pal lost his at a Mission concert – but that’s Fifers for you.

Do Slipknot still have that bucket of dead birds that they sniff on stage to make themselves puke?
I am going to show this thread to my son, and he can take from it, what he will. Some great advice on here folks, thanks for that. If theses more, prey tell…

xiphon That shows my inexperience of ‘fun items’ I used to make tea out of blocks of Black – as I cannot smoke the stuff, and that was me. I have told him, if anything is work bring back, do so, if not (caked in mud etc. then use the skips provided.

xiphon I have had that conversation with him and he is a sensible lad, I do trust him. No ‘pills’ though I have told him. Should I give him some condoms – just in case, or is that wishfull thinking on my part – cos I would be going for it if I was him, but he is not me, not by a long shot.

At the moment, my son has – in his bag – 1 x cheap tent (not expected to make the return journey) 1 x cheap sleeping bag (not expected to make the return journey) and 2 x large packs of Baby wipes. Oh and a disposable BBQ. Do you think he needs more in his bag?

I had some Superstar Sintered pads that did last for ages, tried some Clarks organic, didn’t last very long, just bought some Race-Matrix Compound pads from Uberbike to see what they are like and they were dispatched 30 seconds after I got the order confirmation email, not bad that. Shame they don’t come with Haribos… These had better be good Tracey

My Patriot LT is 1999 with a pair of 1998 Boxxers on, with Hope Bulbs laced with D321s from the same time. I have not changed the bearings since then, maybe I should. The boxxers have only been serviced once many years ago, but everything is still working fine. The hope M4s must be about 10 years old now, still running the same pads in them that came with the brakes, and they have never been bled. What colour will the fluid be, do you think in them.

I am up this weekend with my son and 3 other pals, Saturday and Sunday. Cannot wait, missed last year, but have been every year for the past 10 years I think.
Take your hats, it’s going to be 20 degrees both days it says.

I’ve started setting off from Flotterstone end about 7.30-45, on Wednesdays, so might see you folks on the way round somewhere.

Well I rode it at the weekend and they have thinned it out. Not very much, but they have thinned it out. Please no more thinning of that section anyway.

I was sat next to Timmy Mallet at a Prince concert in 1988. I was so tempted… but I held back.

Yes they are thinning the trees, making it look like Centre Parks now, even on the Pie Run thinning is going on. Keep it dark and interesting for the rider.

Bad news mate. I live in Mussie and will keep an eye out too. Last year I had a bugger wrench open my shed and take my old Marin, he got about 50 years before he fell off it and just left it there on the path.
Hope you get your bike back, such an awful feeling when its gone.

    Folks,
Did the ride on Tuesday night, a lovely night for riding. Superb, my Garmin 500 was spot on, I deviated slightly sometimes, but soon got back on course. Did the route as above, hard going at first but well worth the hard slog up to the top. I was just starting to head back down, when a voice says ‘Hi’. I shat myself. Did not expect to see a chap running just then. Funny though. Had to stop for a heard of Highland Coos. It took a bit longer than I thought it would, but a great ride. Just need to do that a couple of times a week and that will be bob on.
Cheers for all the info folks.
Might try and post the pics I took up there if I can.

    Hi Chaps,
Cheers for all the info, I think I have done a route and saved it as a .tcx file, hopefully I can load it onto my Garmin but not sure. Will have a play about with it before the ride. And load the map up too……fnar fnar
I suppose you just have to get up there and ride round and see what happens really.
Cheers for the directs they were a great help when I was plotting my route.

That map thing is great, I don’t suppose you could plot a route for me on it, not sure how it all works or where I am going on the map. A route that does Castlelaw Hill and Capelaw Hill and brings me out so I can do Maidens too.
Many thanks if you can sort something out for me.

I was woken up one time by the sound of bells – goat bells. I was on the beach in Greece coudled up to a very nice lady, after a night of drinking and skinny dipping. It was a heard of goats passing us whilst the sun came up, very nice indeed.
Ooooh nice warm feeling inside now.

Please please please, if anybody is staying in the Peebles area for a few days, please try Glentress, it is a great centre, BUT PLEASE try Innerleithen Red Route, you will get so much more out of the ride – technically and physically than at Glentress. They are both great routes. Please try them both. Once you have done Innerleithen, you will know why.

That’s Paypal for you. Left a very bitter taste in the mouth I can tell you. They did not want to know.

I had a similar experience with ebay, bought a shock, thought it did not look right, had my LBS have a look, they sent it to Mojo, they returned it saying the shock is unrideable, put a complaint in to Paypal, because I had someone look at it, I did not have a leg to stand on, so I sucked it up. Did not sell the shock on, because real biking folk don’t do things like that (and what is happening to you) to other biking folk. But they should be able to get away with this sort of thing. Sorry, not much help.

I would be up for a regular Wednesday nigh slot up the Pentlands, I was planning on going on my own, but it is always more fun with other folks. Now is this XC or CX, cos I don’t do CX.

My pal is getting a Spearfish built up at his LBS, I saw it at the weekend, what a lovely looking frame, black with a hint of white and blue. Not sure about anything else (clearance etc.), but it did look very nice indeed.

Cheers guys, but I have no idea of any of the names you have mentioned. Have none of you got a marked up detailed map of the natural routes.
I should maybe speak to Steve at i-cycles, I know he knows about some routes round there.

hels That reminds me, years ago I had a CT scan, wonder if I can get a copy of that… My brother had brain surgery and they took pictures at the time, he has copies of them. I have seen one, but it upset me too much, to see my brother like that, not good.

Just the sheer mention of Horsforth fills me with cheer. I am a Horsefordian, now living over the Border. Great to hear a bike shop opening up there, the only bike/sports shop I can remember in Horsforth was down Town Street opposite the junior school many many years ago. Hope it will be a good one for you guys.

I spoke to the Radiology Dept. but the lady that deals with this stuff is off today, so I left some details with another nice lady, she said there will be a small fee (no exact details), hopefully get sorted next week.
Those pics are great, I think they are amazing – seeing into your own body like that.
I will let you know how I get on and hopefully post a pic of my dodgy back.

I had the scan done at the mobile unit at the new Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, but I saw the surgeon at The Western General. Should I call the Radiology Dept. at the Royal?

    bigbadbob
    Free Member

allthegear Yes, just like that, how did you manage that then? The view that I saw with the surgeon was a split screen, one just like yours and also a top view, they look great, I just want my one that that.

The scan is on CD, I saw it when I had the scan done, but they said they would send it to the Docs, then it must have gone to the surgeon where I saw the scan for myself.
The Surgeon did mention about getting it from the Records Dept. but just wanted to check if anybody on here had managed to get sorted with a copy of theirs.

I would wait until you get your new paperwork through first before handing in your notice. About Gardening leave, if your old employer does not mention anything about it or it was in your contract. Just go and tell your new employee everything he wants to here. It is up to your old employer to protect himself, so if there is nothing in your current contract, then it is his fault for not protecting himself.
But you might want to check with a legal person first…

agentdagnamit You are so right, I am going with 2 of my bestest friends that I do not see that often, we will have a great time whatever tyres I am on. I need to ‘Keep It Real’.

in answer to: agentdagnamit I have a pair of Hookworms, Minions and Kujos(10 years old if a day and still going strong. The original DHers tyre) and that is all my tyre list.

in answer to: patriotpro My local trail is Innerleithen XC (2 laps on Sunday I did) so I am after something more calming this weekend…

in answer to: nealglover My mate gave me the Barons as he has gone all 29er now.

Thanks for the advice folks. Happy riding.
