    I dig Jags. Always have.
I picked up a copy of a jaguar magazine in a chippie while waiting for my order, Jag drivers DONT LIKE CYCLISTS!
    Gutted.
    I still dig Jags though.

You can make yourself a better rider whatever you choose.
Think about what you are doing, body position. Take speed off before you get to the corner. Look up. Weight back. Heels down. Drop your wrists. Pump. Jump. Squash. Manual. Etc.
    Full sus or hard tail.
Try different tyre pressures and see how different your bike feels and handles.
I’ve been riding hard tail for years now, but really want a mid travel bouncer, possibly even 29er.

Nothing so advanced, I have a paper OS map and just join the dots with a colour pencil. Luddite (see heading).
I know where I’m going, just want to record where I have been, you know, with distances etc.
Dont want to buy a sat nav gps thingy because it will end up in the same drawer as the heart rate monitor, night lights, ipod, mobile phones etc. thinks its called a man drawer.
It’s a miracle I figured out how to get this far on a forum.
Give me a saw, hammer, spade, wrench, pipe bender, bike, tool box and I am happy.

I peddled like a mad man down Pebble Hill near Dorking on my road bike after only going up it once in a car.
The left turn at the bottom isn’t doable in a car at 40 and you need to slow down some what, it was only after I found myself in the oncoming lane in pair of Lycra shorts and shirt with fingerless gloves and flimsey lid that I thought it wasn’t the best idea I have had! I don’t know who got more of a fright, me or the oncoming GTI, me I think. Yes definitely me.
I just managed to get out of his lane back into mine with a shave so close it would have made the cheesiest Gillette advert!
I stopped a little way down the road and speedo showed Max Speed 58mph.
My Lycra shorts said I was way faster.

Joseph at Fulham branch of Evans cycles.
    Jimmy at Brixton cycles Stockwell.
Both Joe and Jim ran a bike service, repair and bike hire place in Morzine a few years back.
What they don’t know about building wheels isn’t worth knowing!
I weigh 17 stone and ride a hardtail, haven’t been able to bend or brake any of their wheels,
    but I am smoooooooth….

Ask you local tool shop for a long weight.
When you are fed up off waiting around you should be naffed off enough to go home and ‘Use The Force Luke’!

My crank bros mallets came in a nice box with a cool sticker.
No problems after 3 years abuse in all British weather (including droughts).
    Happily get same again.

My 1 year old boy’s initials are RPG, he goes off like one too!
I grew up in South Africa where the internet is still so slow I would have used the biggest gun could lay my hands on and shot the ‘bleedy’ computer for crashing again!

Drove along fulham road this morning with all barriers up pretending I was leading Cav through London to the finish line. Ok, I was only doing 25mph but it’s going to be brilliant. I live a few miles from box hill and want to go see what I can. Felt a bit miffed last weekend we couldn’t have our picnic on Box Hill but actually the whole world is going to see where I live tomorrow and Sunday!
    It’s going to be brilliant.

Only one thing causes a war , greed!
Check out the British, invented concentration camps during the Anglo-Boer war. Not Germans or Japanese.
Diamonds and gold discovered in Transvaal and Orange Free State.
Lord Kitchens decides I’ll have some of that, ‘In the name of queen Victoria’ of course.
    So you go to war!
I think if you want to name and shame a few of the bad guys you should look a little closer to home.

Also remember who who abolished the slave trade, that was a nasty narrow minded religious man who ‘Found
    God’!

    Darwin died alone.

Gloves are compulsory in BMX racing.
But more important, I have a beautifully made pair of Sombrios. Which I love like my wife loves her shoes.
Two pairs of brilliant Azonics that fit so well it’s like riding with no gloves but I have grip.
Some windproof Specialized deflects for cool to cold weather riding.
An insulated waterproof massive pair of full on winter gloves.
Some seal skins which I have had for years but only used once.
I loved Fox full finger gloves but they my fingers always popped through the ends before long.
I even get out on my road bike with full finger gloves.
Don’t like fingerless gloves. Owned a pair once when I started mountain biking and went a motorbike shop and bought some MX gloves.
If you don’t want to ride with gloves that’s cool. I work with my hands a like to give them a little bit of protection while riding.

No. You are not the only 26 inch wheel rider left…
Although I would love a Kona 29 to add to my collection of 2 mtbs, 1 road bike, 2 bmx cruisers, surfboard , 1 longboard ,1 bodyboard, snowboard, 3 skateboards, frisbees, footballs, rugby ball, Nerf, airobee, boomerang, radio control car, rower, guitar, bass guitar, weber bbq… hand tools, power tools, cordless drill, gardening tools. COFFEE MACHINE (my favourite thing apart from wife and two kids who all have own bikes).
Now if only could use all those things at the same time.

    LIFE’S TOO SHORT! JUST RIDE!

Marzocchi Drop off. 7 years old, 1 dealer service.
Shimano XT 4 pot disc brakes. Even older and still stopping the old Kona, another great value frame.
Specialized Big Hit. Raced it downhill regularly and three trips to Les Gets/Morzine, battered regularly on anything downhill within a short drive, I wasn’t going to pedal it there with massive gears and dmr chieftains etc…
Topeak Alien. 10 years of fixing things next to trails.
    Specialized track pump. .
    Fox downhill/motto cross shorts.
    Azonic gloves.
Working in a bike shop, the wage was pathetic but the knowledge I gained of all things Bike and I am still mates with some amazing personalities I met in my time there.

15 years ago I started riding there, smashed my front teeth out on my first ride! Threw them away to continue the ride.
Logging work had just been done around pitch and winterfold.
Next summer you won’t even know it happened.
Especially when you all decide this mountain biking lark is for the birds when Cav wins gold and you all go out and buy road bikes and Sky riding tops with matching booties and leave us hippies in peace!

I had a pile of land rover magazines.
    I love them.
The only thing to put me off a defender is the ease at which they are broken into.

Does your ipod work normally on other docking stations?
Have you tried another device in the bose?.
Mine is doing the same thing.

Sorry to hear its tense at home.
I was in a similar situation, daily rows in front of our son etc. till I almost got killed in an accident a few years back.
My wife looked after me while recovering from surgery.
Stood by me through my depression after.
Stuck with me when I nearly went bankrupt as a result of all the above.
Financially we are still miles behind but we’re in it together.
Work on it. It won’t be easy and may get harder but nothing worth doing is ever easy.
    Councilling, do whatever it takes.
    All the best.

Mr Salmon, you reminded of some great stories from independent stores, there were no forums back then.
Please don’t get me wrong and think I won’t go back to Evans, I served my time working for them, and back then it was the customers who didn’t have a clue! Seriously!!
I made some brilliant friends and we had a good time.
When Evans are good they are brilliant. Shops open long hours and always have basics in stock.
    When they stuff up…

    HTC Desire.
    Not happy with mine.
On second handset and seems to have a mind of its own.
Newest problem is keeps going to speaker mode when answering or dialling out.
Apps and other stuff work well. Not sure if I’d get another.
Wouldn’t spend that on used handset.

    Alternatives?
Unfortunately Transition trans am frames are also sold out, their large is bigger than the bfe which would be perfect for you.
But also 200 quid more! Sadly no green trans am.
Dialled Prince Albert worth a look.
I had a Kona Hoss a few years ago which kick started my love for Kona. Great for bigger riders.
Now I ride a Cowan 17.5 inch which is set up for North downs. It’s almost too small but works well.
I’m 6’4, 17.5 stone. 38in waist etc. Can’t climb but get in my way on a descent and you’ll know you’ve been tangoed.
I’m definitely going to check out the new large bfe, tapered steered tube….
    Suits you, sir!

My 4 year old just started rugby tots and he loves it.
If there isn’t one near you consider starting one up, our local one is real popular.
    He is in Reigate, surrey.

    eBay,
Take some time putting ad together with nice photos and full explanation and you will get market value.
See what other guitars go for and put a minimum start price you can live with.
Offer postage to the whole of uk or you limit your potential buyers.
I’d like that Tele but I’m also saving for a new bike.
    Good luck.

You can’t call yourself a real cyclist if you don’t have a bmx!
Sort of makes me think of Clarckson saying you are not a petrol head if you haven’t owned an Alfa Romeo.
Thankfully a bmx is a lot cheaper and takes up less space. But not less painful.
I have some awesome scars from falling of my 20inch race bike at 35 years young.
I had a cruiser and loved it. Found it more suitable to my ogre frame.
Currently have a cruiser frame in the garage somewhere.
I got into bmx when I was working 24/7 and didn’t get to see my mountain bikes, carried a specialized Vegas In the back of the van, bought for 15 quid off eBay and rode all the skate parks on my lunch breaks.
The kids always seemed greatful I was around because co-ordless bullies would clear off.
But even the really good older kids would give an appreciative nod in my direction as if to say well done for trying old man.
Easily the greatest full body work out!
I must get another 20″ bike!
