£40 is high, I suppose it depends on what you get for it and what they spend it on. £10-20 is more normal.

Club affliation to BC is about £88 p.a.

the insurance for led rides could be spent in getting someone qualified to “lead” the ride.

all their books are works of fiction, any relationship to actual events is minmal at best

    both only write fiction

both can’t go back for reunions

wouldn’t pick a fight with either of them

I would take a tube, tyre levers and minipump, potential 4 mile walk in cycle shoes otherwise. just tape to the bike

    btw its supposed to hurt!

you need to warm up really well including race pace efforts

    don’t start too quick,

if using a HRM remember that there is a lag and that you should build up relatively slowly otherwise you will go nto the red

after the first minutes you should be smooth and at full stretch

concentrate on maintianing good pedal revs, round pedalling, and effort

don’t worry about taking a drink you don’t need it for the 25 mins you are on course

it isn’t his fault it is Thatcher’s (and for the next 50 years)

    plenty of choice out there.

if you buying new check the frame warranty, anyone who does lifetime is a good place to start

the boardmans should be in the mix, he would not put his name on crap.

Is that her fault as well?

I’m still waiting for someone to identify the “golden age” pre Thatcher

blaming all the massive social changes on her is a cop out. The situation is far more complex than “Thatcher ruined the country”.

12 years of a Labour government what social change have they affected? (other than massage employment/incapacity stats)

is social engagement higher or lower, is the underclass more or less embedded? why did we have to import labour from eastern europe?

It is likely that future generations may be talking about the “Brown legacy” in the same way as Thatcher is now. I would argue that we are now more “me first” than ever before.

I wonder when we are goig to get to the Thatcher event horizon? ie when you can’t blame her anymore and have to face up to everybody else having some responsibility

I also don’t believe that the underclass were not as separated from what TJ calls “society” as they are now. They have always existed and probably always will, its more that no-one reported on them in the daily newspapers/ TV news.

Or was there a “golden age” pre Thatcher when all was well with the country?

there is always a spectrum of behavior in society, the story highlights one end of it

there are no winners in stories like this, its just used by which ever end of the political spectrum for their own ends. From its Thatchers fault (how long ago did she go?) to look at the underclass and stop their benefits.

freedom and a democratic society means that you have to respect peoples right to behave how they want within the constraint of law. If they want to self justify their behavior (McD’s are healthy) then we need to accept they can do that. The underclass have always existed and had their own subcultures where what “normal” people aspire to is seen as strange or stupid.

I went up and tried one route which for 3/4 of the way was pants

the group of 6 doing “hike-a-bike” on an alternative route seemed equally impressed

there is a footpath that goes down from RMR to the southern corner of the quarry

only worth it in the dry, should be obvious due to MXer damage/ use

the descent of MTL or RMR is better/ more fun and then cut around the back of stacksteads folowing signs for the cemetary

700c is the UCI “standard” it bears no relation to which is quicker

hour records have to be on a Merckx standard bike (except for the polish bloke who has since been busted for doping)

if hills are the problem it could also be a power-weight issue

drop the alcohol, eat more fruit etc

the coaches on the timetrial forums seem to get very good results with 6-8 hours training a week, it just very focused and not very nice when doing it

go on the timetrialing forum, lots of information and help

essentially a program that has a high cadence session and a couple of 2x20min at 75%-85% depending on condition % based on a flat out 20min session (after a good warm up)a week gets good gains

remember to take a easy week every 4 or so weeks

its a penny pinching decision, Ghurka pensions are less than the rest of the armies, if they are allowed residency the case would be strong for pension equivilence.

Its a poor decision made for the wrong reasons

the criterea for Joe Bloggs non-EU immigrant is far less onerous

The alternative is a Van Nicholas Yukon if anyone has any experience of them.

the travel is reduced to about 105mm for 29ers

the issue seems to be the loss of “effective” tube length due to the internal headset

its a shame they went that way as the colour matches the old 69er DUC’s
