We found our 5 days pretty expensive. It was a brilliant time though our kids thought it was fantastic. The eldest was tall enough to go on some of the roller coasters and loved it. The youngest was still young enough to buy into the whole concept of Mickey being real.

We tried not to get too concerned about the whole expense of the thing and enjoy the experience, it was pretty special.

As already recommended, the buffet breakfast will easily provide you with a decent lunch! Don't be shy, no one else was when went last year.

McDonalds is about the cheapest place you'll find for the evening. Avoid eating in the hotels/lodges in the evenings very expensive!

I'd go for the best frame you can get, Spesh, Trek, Cannondale, Giant, all decent frames with decent warranty back up. Try a few and get the best fit you can…

Gripshift all the way for kids, far easier to use. Or 1×9 as it's already been said.

You may be best trying a broker, someone like Adrian Flux, they use a number of insurers so will be able to give you options.

If you go to Direct Line or Tesco, etc. they can only offer one solution.

It is illegal for you to insure the car with him as a driver. It is called 'fronting' and if there is an incident/accident the insurance company may well try and wriggle out of paying up as you didn't tell the truth.

It's already been mentioned but try your insurance company or shop around, be very careful of the money supermarket type sites, investigate the small print in detail, most have very high excess levels hidden in there.

Hi Dom, I'd need a 58, the Biggest size!

According to my LBS you haven't any left.

Is this because you're launching a new carbon road frame..?

    @Mackem, that's the lines I'm thinking along.

I'm trying to negotiate the day rate up at the moment.

I'm dissapointed that the advertised job was a salaried permanent role and the offer is a contract, at a much lower rate.

I'd go for the Kinesis, great products and great customer service.

I was trying to buy a KR810 carbon road frame from them but they have none left in my size! Gutted.

They've been building carbon road frames for a while now and have had carbon rear ends in their MTB frames as well. So not a new line for them.

The contract offered is on a self employed basis.

They've offered £150 as a day rate. My previous employed position was about double that (including pension & benefits)

The advertised job that I went for was about £250 if you work out the package on a daily rate.

I have a feeling they're taking the piss!

The initial reason for applying for the job, except that I'm unemployed was that it was based in my home town where previously I was away a couple of days a week.

Car insurance is going to go up in price. Zurich announced 20% increases in personal motor premiums just the other week, expect the other insurance companies to follow at some point.

Increased claims cost, the cost of uninsured drivers etc are continuing to drive premiums up.

If you cancel the policy without it running a full year then you can't earn 1 years no claims – that seems to make sense to me. However you could get Admiral to write you a letter detailing your claims history to date.
You could then approach Autonet or similar and get them to cover the last 3 months of your first year and at renewal start a new policy with your 1 years NCD.

Or approach a local broker and see what they can sort out for you.

I can't think of anyone who offers that kind of cover off the top of my head. Generally home insurance will cover your bike if you have the appropriate level of cover, world wide all risks. You could ring your home insurance company and ask them, they may offer you extended cover.

Tell the truth, as it's been said kids tend to learn more about the world when they are out there in it, lots of new experiences for them.

Two of my mates did it the year before last in 10 days, just regular road bikes with rear racks fitted. Booked most of the B&B's before they started and had a rough plan of where they wanted to get to each day.

100 or so miles a day with a mid morning stop, lunch stop, afternoon stop at a reasonably easy pace.
They did put in a couple of 100 mile training days but other than that they just knocked out the usual 2-3 hour training rides.

Take plenty of money for food! Some nights they were eating 2 fish suppers each!

My mate had it done last summer, about 10 days off the bike then gentle riding complete with compression tight on – we never took the piss out of him!!
Full recovery was about 4 weeks, he's a tri-athlete so swimming took him the longest to get back to with incisions healing etc…

psycle, fair play, I think you did the right thing, asked first, then mildly forced your way past. He pulled you from your bike and I think deserved the punch he got. He pulled you from your bike to further assualt you!
Lucky then didn't pull a knife, if it was me, I'd be riding a shitty looking bike and sticking to the road.

Silk Road is still being built.

Longest I've ridden on the Cannondale is 120 miles, in one sitting.
