This one time, I may have been drunk, I had a fumble with the hot blonde in accounts & professed my undying love for her. Worked a treat as she’s now my wife.
Another time ‘lunch time bash’ then returned to the office I vaguely recall my then boss offering me glasses of port and at some point late in the afternoon I was standing on my desk mooning one of my colleagues when a manager from another dept walked in…. The following morning I excused myself and my boss laughed at me, he thought it was hilarious, thankfully.

Try emailing gav@augustwheelworks.com he’s a wheel builder I use, he builds with both Stans & Pacenti. He’ll give you an honest opinion based on your riding style, the terrain etc..
I’m running Flows on both my bikes (single speed rigid commuter & a Spesh Enduro) I like a sturdy wheel.

So my youngest is after a Go-Pro for Christmas, this seems like a viable alternative. Are the ones available via EvoMTB OK then..?

I like the airshot idea, I had thought of using an old or out of test pony cylinder to make a similar solution.

I have 2 pairs of Links, wore them for a week in the Alps recently, I like the stiffer sole as I have big feet and soft sole tend to wrap around the pedals too much.
They fit well, they’re comfy and dry as quickly as any other shoes of a similar type.

If you can find some in your size and they’re cheap then get them.

Don’t plate, go and see this guy, http://www.physioclinic.net/ he has a fantastic reputation, his waiting room is full of cards from most of the UK’s top super bike racers. He’s known as the bone welder and has a very good reputation.

A mate of mine broke his collarbone, went to see Brian and was racing the TT 10 days later.

    Fairly simple.

Remove the wheels from the bike and the standard post.

Add a small weight to your string, a small nut will suffice.
    Turn the frame upside down
drop the nut through the ‘stealth’ entrance on the downtube
rotate the frame until the nut and bit of string run past the BB and uo & out the seat tube.
Tie or the string at the down tube end so it doesn’t pull all the way through.
Carefully unscrew & remove the lever from the hose of the Reverb.
Screw in the small red ‘blanking plate’ thing into the hose.
Tie the string through the hole in the ‘red thing’
Pull the string and the hose back through the frame
When you’re approaching the end of the hose, carefully position the Reverb into the frame
Remove the ‘red thing’ and re-fit the lever – if you’re carefull you wont need to bleed the system.
Adjust the height of the seatpost in the frame to suit.
Tighten up the downtube cable giudes.

Remember to leave a little slack so it you want to check whats happening in your seat tube you only need to undo the lever and slide some extra hose through the stealth hole, this will allow you to move the Reverb clear of the frame incase you want to or need to inspect the seat tube.

Just back from a week in Chatel, we were nearly all on enduro style bikes 2 x Spesh Enduro, Commencal Meta AM, Spesh SX and one lad on a Morewood 4X bike..

Rode most of the stuff out there, it’s all rideable on these kind of bikes. We also rode up the Col De Coux and came down the ridge into Champerey, there’s no way you’d want to do that on a DH bike. As with most riding it’s a compromise, you can’t have a bike that excels at everything but the enduro type bikes come close.

interestingly the Morewood was wrecked by the end of the week… but the lad on it was probably the one going the biggest out of all of us.. including chasing locals on their DH bikes…

I like them, nearly bought one at Tweedlove but Alpine didn’t have my size in the colour I wanted. Bought a TLD A1 for £69 instead.

    see Jedi,

    ride bike lots,

    see Jedi again,

    ride bike lots more….

    repeat as necessary..

I used to be able to jump OK years ago, through lack of riding lost or forgot the skill & muscle memory. I went to see Jedi, I can jump again. I’ve been riding a lot more this year but I’ll go back and see him again later this summer if I can.

Used a pair of Leatt XXL knees at the weekend for the first time, comfy enough for 6 hours use. As an ex rugby player I have big legs.
Not sure how long they’ll last as I did feel I was stretching them a fair bit.

Awesome weekend, the trails were tough & it was hard work but loved most of it, there were a few ‘dark’ moments on the climbs but hey.

Goals were to finish and not come last, achieved both of those so pretty happy…

@bigjim, I did think that might be the case, to be fair I’d be one of those bodies. I don’t doubt there’s going to be some ‘exciting’ sections..

I think we’ll be luck if we can cover 3 stages on the Friday, fully intend to ride the stage an stop at any tricky points to get a feel for them, can’t see too many full stage runs happening.

Anyone think there will be any sections that will only be able to be ridden by the pros..? i.e. big gaps etc..

Only doing the EWS E2 cat, very excited in a ‘help I’m way out of my depth here’ way.
Only aim is to get round the 2 days in one piece, be in the same event as the pros and try and enjoy it.

Certainly not fit enough, haven’t had enough practice and may just be a wee bit worried.

Not getting up there until Thursday night so practice Friday, well, practice the most tricky stages Friday.

Then all hell breaks loose Friday! I’ll be taking my FF and usual helmet, I’ll make a decision on the Friday which to race in, if I race in the FF I’ll carry my other helmet for transitions.

It’s been years since I’ve ridden up there so I’m sure I’ll be in for a tough time..

I doesn’t seem to be any leaks… and I bled with the speed adjuster at slow and at fast…

Haven’t checked the air, but it was all working before I fitted it.. so assume it just needs a decent bleed, hence my thinking about doing that outside the bike

My 2 9 & 11 are on ‘proper’ MTB’s now. Youngest is on a BeOne 14″ and the eldest just got rid of a Scandal 14″ in favour of an Identiti Krisis 4X. Both using Shimano XT 9 speed & Shimano disc brakes, light & reliable.

Plenty of small 14″ frames out there, also with the addition of a pair of decent Rockshox Rebas you can get the suspension working correctly for them.

We’ve had a few Isla Bikes but I wasn’t convinced by the spec on the Creig.

    In two weeks….

Ride your bike every day for the next 2 weeks and you could be ready…

Extend you’re commute, find some longish hills and spin up them, again and again and again. The one thing I found with Ventoux is that it is relentless, so if like me you’re not a born climber you only have one option, sit and spin. Like most of these long climbs it’s pretty tough mentally but if you can get over that then you’ll be OK.

transition times for the Pro’s only, punters just have a ‘you must complete the whole course by X time restriction’ Only the timed stages count to overall times.

cheers guys, it’ll be SS specific, on a Genisis Fortitude. I suppose it comes down to whether I want to swap free wheels or cogs on a cassette body if I decide to ride somewhere more hilly as it’s fairly flat here.

Kind of like the idea of being able to just swap a cog on a cassette body. Might be cheaper than having a few White Industries / Halo freewheels hanging about.

I do like the idea of a Hope trials hub, having owned Hope hubs before they pretty well built & rebuildable.
Not sure about the quality of SS specific screw on hubs like Surly etc..
