As I get older, I'm really beginning to struggle with the question of how someone can be worth that much? They haven't found a cure for cancer or stopped wars.
I can understand how someone may be worth a large salary say £250,000 and a matching bonus. Seriously how can these people really be worth £1,000,000 bonuses, what do they do with it? (buy carbon bikes I guess )

If your looking to diversify, look at similar business and decide if that's an area you want to get into, then buy into that space.

You can only grow business in 2 ways, either organic growth (new customers/new contracts) or acquisition.

If you'd like I'd be happy to take you through a day's business consultancy for a small fee 😀

Another vote for a KTM 200 here, light, quick, manageable on and off road. Easy enough to service and repair at home.

I suspect that a 450 4 stroke might be a step too far if you haven't raced before, easy enough to ride on the road but it'd get you into alot of trouble very quickly off road.

Try and get a copy of TBM if you can, worth a read.

Take the MTB, plenty of riding out at the coast, Pretty Corner, Sheringham Country Park, Bacton Woods, Kelling Heath more than you'd realise.. of course plenty of good road riding as well, ride one of next years Tour of Britain stages!

Strange but I'm a similar situation, loads of experience in a number of decent positions but there seems to be nothing out there for me?
Spent the last 12 years in insurance but the jobs at my level seem very difficult to come by now.

Oh well, I'll just keep on riding my bike 😀

State of the house won't have anything to do with it.

If he has paid his permium he is entitled to be put back into the same position he was before the claim. (less his agreed excess) Asuming that it's a valid claim.
I suspect that he isn't insured.

I was made redundant about a fortnight ago but I'm hopefull about getting another job.
I've been out riding as well as applying for jobs over the last few weeks, on my MTB and road bike.
I went out on a road ride this morning with a good mate of mine who has been diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, he was a bloody good cyclist, LEJOG, the Fred and The Dragon last year as well as MTB races but for the last 6 months this guy could barely walk across the room without getting out of breath. He has about 18 months on the drugs that he's taking before he needs a lung transplant. But this morning he rode with us to the usual Sunday coffee stop, it took us longer than usual, he had to stop 3 times to get his breath back. All that effort paid off, it was great to be sitting there eating cake, drinking coffee and talking shit like we used to.

What a great day, I admire his determination and wouldn't have missed this ride for anything, though on the way back when it was pissing down and he was getting a lift back with another friend, they did shout and wave as they passed.

    Life isn't all bad.

I'd go for an Isla Beinn, 26" wheels, light and dependable, if you wanted you could even fit some suspension forks.

Worked long hours with usually 2 or 3 nights away from home. So didn't get out much in the week.
That was until I was made redundant earlier this month, so now I have time to go out and ride whilst worrying how I'm going to support my family. At least I'm getting the miles in!

Look at the whole package, slaary, pension, etc… Work out your current situation, is it more.

Then just ask them if they can move upward? Do you need to justify why you've asked? If so similar jobs paying more etc..

I don't think it's a lack of industry support, it's more that he doesn't want it. From what I've read he likes to work on his own with no interference from outsiders.

The bloke is a complete hero in my mind, an inspiration to me and thousands of others. Sad to read the latest news.

Try Winstanleys BMX, they have some proper BMX bikes for that kind of money.

A word of warning, I was picking my 7 year old up from school and one of the mums was complaining about the brake on her son's new BMX, I had a look, the brake was badly adjusted. I sorted it but was shocked that this bike had plastic levers, pressed steel V brake arms, loose headset and rear hub. It was less tha 2 weeks old and she'd paid £130 for it, she asked if she should take it back and get a refund as it already had been back to the shop. For that kind of money she could have a branded bike such as a Redline from Winstanleys or one of the other online suppliers.

The thing was just a piece of junk.

I was in my LBS, 2 minute silence observed by all staff and the customers who were in the shop. I too always think of it as a chance to reflect on all the fallen from all sides across the world. My Granny lost 3 brothers in WW1, though I didn't know them the thought of them still makes me terribly sad.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

My lad's 7 and races a 20" which he can jump and wheelie easy enough, I wouldn't just buy one online, get him to a shop, they'll give you some advice. Then it's up to you if you buy from them or get one online.

I'd go for a race bike, lighter, easier to ride properly though possibly not as robust as a 'stunt' bike.

After I ride I usually wash my helmet in the shower!! use shampoo or shower gel to wash the straps and pads.

    Soap vigorously! Works for me.

Kevin Dangerous, total legend! I remember his breaking his brothers Tioga Disk Drive rear wheel at a Scottish Downhill event in about……199? I think he was riding the 'Rapid Rigid' category as well!

    Haha.

My 5 year old has just taken delivery of a Spesh Hotrock 20 and my 7 year old is on a Giant MTX 24. The Giant was second hand and I managed to get a deal on the Spesh by trading in his old Hotrock 16.
I found it difficult to get good quality bikes for them, big issues is balancing expense against the time they’ll own/fit the bike.

I’m a big fat lad at 6’4″ amd nearly 20 stone. I ride a road bike, a mountain bike and a bmx! Racked up 76 miles on the raod this morning whislt wearing lycra. I don’t care if offended anyone, form over function every time, if I was racing my BMX I’d have put my pads and full face helmet on, that might offend some I’m sure.

But I don’t worry about it, I’m a cyclist and I’m having fun.
