Walk into any old buildings you can find, there’s some amazing spots that aren’t necessarily brilliantly advertised but you can stumble on some real jems

big chief – urg! how far did you have to walk?

About three miles I think. It’s not easy with no trousers on and a jumper strapped round my leg with some para cord trying to stop the bleeding…

Cutting a 1.5 inch deep, 3 inch long groove into my leg with an axe. Bit silly when I was in the middle of the dales at 9:30 in the pitch black then spending an hour walking to the nearest road after packing uo my tent etc. and spending the rest of the night in A and E. Such fun….

Personally, I reckon he shouldve taken his bonus. He’s heading a huge bank at the moment, in a bank, a million pounds is petty cash so for the position he’s in and the pressure he’s under, the bonus was fitting. Just a load of people thinking the country will sort itself out who have no idea how its gonna happen really shouldn’t complain. He’s being productive and getting somewhere, if you really want, let’sjust tell him not to bother because obviously, its not worth nine hundred and odd thousand to start rebuilding what’s been messed up.

I’m starting on a…. Keeway TX 50 SM. Never herd of them before but they’re cheap, to buy and insure and will do me for 2 years and then when I’m done with it sell it for maybe £500? if I look after it.

Do consider the fact that I have, (as of yet) no riding experience except round a field on an old 3/4 Honda. Will I notice how underpowered it is?

The depth that Tolkien goes into in the books and the world he creates is so vast and complex it’s almost incomprehensible. Also, the fact that the story is open to people of all ages, the fact that almost everywhere you go in the countryside you can see the inspiration that drove his mind. It’s truly unbeatable

In a way I wish I was in your position, Iv’e got to get through my A Levels and 5-7 years in university before I can even begin in the Army so I envy the opportunity but I understand how your wife would feel. Main thing is come back in one piece and enjoy it 🙂

How about Kona Coilairs? They seem to fit the bill and have some good reviews. Seen them in the Mega Avalanche as well. Never been sure about Kona though

i’ve got a desire s that does the same thing, it’s a real pain in the arse. I have a signal in my bedroom where I leave my phone to charge but about once a week on different nights it just looses signal. No idea why. One way I can suggest to help ‘pull the signal through’ as I see it is to keep ringing a number over and over until it starts to ring. Make sure you end the call before it starts actually ringing though because you can have some awkward conversations.

managed to do it. There are a couple of plastic washers I haven’t used but can’t see where they’d go but I reckon the pedals should be fine.

Elf was one of the worst with his form of belittling, condescending and derogatory rebuttal of anyone who disagreed with him.

Yeh, i is hypocritical but, he did make me laugh in the ‘silence for a tenner’ thread. 😆

the idea came from the banning of elf on ‘silence for a tenner’ thread and all the post deleting that was going on. Got me thinking…

Any form of deleting really, like deleting the name so Joe Bloggs in Wales can use it instead of me or stopping the name ever being used again or splitting it away from its email so another can be created etc.

back to the original point… I reckon it is a problem that needs to stop. I never see it as full on attacks at one person, usually a few negative comments that then get taken a bit further by others until it turns into pure insults. The ones that irritate me are the grammar ones, Iv’e grown up with 90% dyslexics and I know how much difficulty they have with spelling/punctuation and I’m pretty useless too and there’s nothing wrong with the odd correctment but when people start ridiculing grammar and spelling it really starts to take the …. All forms need to stop because as has been said, you can’t just deck the offending person(s).

Shimano XT. Have had no problems with except when I fiddle with them and undo bolts that release the oil 😆 They have served me well and have shown no signs of wear in their functionality.

My mates are perfectly skilled and are teaching me, I just seem to have bad luck :-/ really, a skills coarse would probably do me little good, I know what I should do just don’t do it, steady practice will get me there. Hence the looking for armour instead of a course.

Really I ride Xx on a summer season but have recently been going out with mates who ride downhill and freeride. I don’t have the money for two bikes so was thinking get a frame set and make a single speed jump bike type that’s cheap so I can keep up without having to worry about my more delicate on-one. (I know the summer season can cope with the rigour of freeride type but its a 20″ frame so a bit big for chucking about).

I don’t have much skill bit I’m wanting to learn so the frame needs to be TOUGH to allow for many falls and shitty landings etc.

As usual the green laners are not depicted in the best light, you could show people from any activity who would make people see that group as a total set of w***ers. Most green laners are respectful and care for the tracks they use and the countryside, just as most mountain bikers and hikers, but there are exceptions in all groups. It really does show green laners in a unfair light…. Not impressed 🙁

I’ll bear it in mind honourablegeorge, (we share the best name in the world ;-)) but at the moment I don’t have the money, probably in 2 months ill have, just after Christmas. I’ll drop you an email near that time and if you’ve still got it then then I’ll give it some serious consideration.

I love Scandanavia and with danish you can get along in Norway and Sweden too. The reason for Danish is I’m thinking about possibly going to Copenhagen university so it seems logical and even if I dont go I want to be able to speak one language fluently

Eating out in Stockholm is hellish expensive. Save up plenty of money if you want that. Everywhere else the cuisine is not that varied, (lots of fish, fish and more fish). They know how to use prawns well though. its really nice to the south of Stockholm if you like the lakes and huge forests etc. Theres a place called Emmaboda that has a very small and very cheap campsite half way between Stockholm and the south cost that if you are around that area you should definitely stay at without a doubt.

North of Stockholm towards Norway it gets a bit more hilly but nothing really worth dragging the mountain bikes for. If you want to take a bike a folding one or a cheap city type bike is best with a cheap lock to save on tram and bus charges etc. (check out the ammount of Brooks saddles they have 80 )

Overall its definitely worth going to and theres loads in Stockholm to do, you can even see Sweden’s most successful ship the Vassa 😉 There’s palaces and cafes and waterfronts etc. It is quite pricey but its worth it

Basically I need to make sure It can withstand waterfalls, Lakes, Boggy Moorland, Snow etc. All types of wet and wonderful things and the extremes of British weather without ANY problems. A few days of saturation etc.
