Result (and outed some pathetic idiots along the way)

    Amazing.

I rode the Grundig there in 1990 — even with my Flexstem I could do nothing to stop Sara Ballantyne leaving me for dead on one downhill section.

Jones — perhaps not in your budget but I’ve had mine since 2007 so the value for money is racking up nicely. All the rest are Jones Geometry catch-ups very valid options. Just enjoy riding whatever you have/get/can.

The whole thing looks to me like it’s the complete opposite of what you’d I’d want.

Edited. Different wants. Where’s Jennifer Aniston when I need her?

I wouldn’t buy a Jones truss fork or a Lynskey helix frame because they just look to me like they are just different for the sake of it.

I don’t know about Lynskey, but Jones, not ‘different for the sake of it’ at all.

    Singletrack, Issue 69, October 2011. Open mind…

A test ride with an open mind is the only way to find out if a bike suits you and your riding. It’s how a bike rides that matters. Anyone wanting a test ride is welcome to email me and I’ll see where a bike might be.

Fugly bling but has worked for me – since 2006 . . .

    Thread still open.

Yes – rack and mudguards can be fitted…

Same bike, on and off-road :O)

Jeff wrote a blog post about it “Jones as a City and Touring Bike”.

And here’s a close up (talc residue from tyre fitting fun!)

Just popping back to show the Duallys here with some Conti tyres now fitted. Certainly some heft (compared to XC lite rims) but a fab profile/volume and looking forward to seeing just how low I can go with the tyre pressures.

Any of those can be bought with a Ti Truss fork instead of the Unicrown.

Oddly enough the next test bike has it Duallys – waiting on saddle and tyres

Hoses to allow for longer stem to be fitted (test riders come in all shapes and sizes).
And yes, that pink wall needs to get its (summer) coat.

I think 7 framesets is current stock of red diamond/unicrown.

Just been for a ride off-road on a Jones – turns out it’s bloody wonderful.
Who’d have thunked it. Riding one (with an open mind) recommended :O)

Nice – I’m told those Jones bikes are very capable and a joy to ride.

Yes – whole bike for a test ride here. Got those bars on it.

First, I’ll declare a total bias and then point you at this (and follow the links from the blog to the tester’s blog) as all that isn’t my bias. It’s vindication

I might be breaking some rules but this video has some lovely slow-mo in it for people pondering 29er trail manners… http://youtu.be/BoPO1EqmIyg

Wayne has some riding sorted at Glentress saturday for anyone in the area, Jones and Surly and some fat wheel variations https://www.facebook.com/EDSbikes – bit far for you Pimpmaster :O)

And Richard @ STW – yes – just need to sort my destination url :O)

PJ – I’ve emailed you. Jones test rides are possible. Anyone do email me, biff@yesweareontheweb.com, and STW – I’ve emailed you about an advert :OP

Jeff Jones – of course I would say that – but Worland and Kesteven (and Chipps) and Davis all have good things to say about them. Wanna test ride? Works better than pics and specs and forum exchanges. Rigid (but not) so it’s frame and forks – old school frameset notions :O)

    Del – sweet.

Swank – Out of fashion was a joke (coming after my **** all to do with fashion comment) seeing as nine years doesn’t fit with the ‘2012 range’ or ‘2013 range’ the industry is prone to – not my kind of cycles. And religion? Again, struggling to see how “I respect other peoples’ choices” is any crusade. I abhor religion. Frame and forks starting at £815 (not very expensive).

    Better tool for the job?
Helping hand please – the job? My job? Your job? Big jobby? It’s riding a bike isn’t it?

The bigotry of snobby niche purists who look down on people for riding mainstream brands?

Sorry, how does “I respect other peoples’ choices” read to you?

So it’s not about how it rides, it’s more of a lifestyle/fashion thing?

Not at all, but getting to the bottom of the hill as quickly and easily as possible isn’t of paramount importance to me and my idea of fun might not tally with yours. I find a Jones very comfortable, a great ride. My cycling isn’t about speed and **** all to do with fashion or lifestyle (whatever that is). I’ve had a Jones for nine years – so I must be out of fashion now surely?

    Easier? Faster? More comfortable?
Misses the point – in my opinion.

    I respect other peoples’ choices.
Not at all surprised by the bigotry.
Just a shame it stretches to push bikes.

    OFF TOPIC

about as respectful as people who take money for fanzines they never actually produce i guess?

Ouch. Del, can’t find any info in your profile to contact you directly or any recent emails from you in my biff@yesweareontheweb.com account relating to your Outcast sub so have to say hello here. I am doing issue #25. The subscription is ‘£10 for four issues in as long as it takes us to do them’ but if that’s a problem for you do please email me and i’ll refund you for any outstanding issues. I’ve got all The Outcast subscriber details on my old G4 so nothing lost, nothing stolen. It’s been said there never have been any outstanding issues.

Let’s talk. Happy to do all my laundry in public.

If I could have only one intelligent exchange of views on a cycling forum I’d like it to be this one.

A Jones is worth a test ride with an open mind. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Me? A 29×2.55 Weirwolf WTB fits I think, or have I got Maxxis tubeless something or other on there? Ignitor? I’ll have to check, I’ve been on the pistachio green steel of late (and my Kona road bike :O)

There’s a reason, which I know of but don’t have it to hand, that Jeff only advises Jones 135-F hub or Paul’s Comp WHUB. But obviously some others fit with modification – see above. Just not recommended.

    Sheldon’s fat purple one is a good’un.
Although not sure I’d want to ride it!

Ti pricing as soon as I have it.
