    Thanks everyone.

My business is going to be a fairly niche photography business but whilst that is growing I’m going to sell my soul and advertise for some more mainstream photography work.

I have a friend who appears to have done rather well from Groupon marketing. He as managed to sell extras on the day that have boosted profit to an acceptable level as well as building quite a client base to sell to in the future.

Could I ask what your wife’s business s Markie?

I use a Dagger RPM for pretty much the same usage as you described. It’s a real good kayak for day trips but if you are thinking of camping at any point I would go for something similar but with storage compartment inc.

12 months ago I was in a similar position. It came down to a straight choice between a 13″ Macbook Pro or the Mac Air.

I don’t know too much about the internals of Macs so for me it came down to; would I prefer the lightness/portability of the Air or would it be more useful to have the DVD drive inc with the the Pro, save several hundred pounds but be slightly heavier

Having thought about it for a few days I went for the Macbook Pro and can honestly say I have never regretted it. I carry it everywhere on the bike, walking, tube, train and can’t say I have ever thought I wish I’d saved xx grams by buying the Air.

My twopenneth; for what it’s worth. I would think long and hard about trying to sort out some transport for you and whatever kayak you decide to get. Carrying your boat to the same entry point every time you want to paddle will get a bit boring unless you live next to a particularly interesting stretch of water. It will be a bit like cycling the same trail every time you go out on your bike. Variety is the spice of life!

If you can mix it up a bit it’s a great sport to get into.

I’m not going to get involved in posturing/bickering on t’internet.

My facts are, I have followed the iDave and lost a fair few Kgs. I am 5’10 and now weigh 74kg’s. I’ve enjoyed the regime and honestly see me continuing it for ever.

I no longer enjoy the treat days; it just seems wrong.

I like the extra thought that goes into preparing every meal.

It can be hard, especially around lunch time, everyone else at work goes to bakery for a high carb sarnie and I am left wishing I ad prepared something the night before. I now make a very tasty 3 bean salad on a sunday that lasts me all week.

    Thank you (again) iDave.

Thanks everyone. I’ve got a bit more of an idea of what is required now so feeling a lot more confident that i can deliver.

I’ve also negotiated that I can have entry to the building on Sun (shooting Tues) so that I can do some prep work around places to shoot and natural light.

    Thanks again,

I suppose I was looking at about 200 maybe a bit more for the right screen.

    I don’t know if I have a Thunderbolt port, it’s a 2yr old alloy body MacBook Pro.

If he likes Canon you could take a look at the Powershot G range. I have a G9 that is a few years old that has a view finder as well as a screen. They are up to the G12 now.

There is a G1-x that has just been released at around 699, so way over your budget but it should have the knock on effect of bringing s/h models down a bit as they drift a bit more “out of date”.

You would probably need a longer chain as well. Your original chain will be fine for 30*34 but if you ever try 50*34 it will almost certainly be a bit short.
